Great reaction thanks! Love to see people who can comprehend Jacobs work so fully. His moon river cover as someone else has mentioned, may be the accapella you were considering he could do, but with something like 8 modulations 1 of which keys is microtonal it may be more than you expect! Enjoy.

10:15 - "The dude could have his own acapella group if he wanted to." Check out some of his earlier arrangements of songs like "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" or "The Flintstones"...and then, as others have suggested, his "Moon River" is...I dunno...just "beyond".

Now we have Bridge over Troubled Waters to add to the list... And don't forget You and I. Just heaven-like

The reason he seems so precise singing notes is because he not only has perfect pitch, but can sing the 5 pitches between any two notes. For example instead if going from C to C# he can microtonally sing each of the even increments between the two notes where you measure it in "cents" (1/100ths). On some songs he shifts the entire key to a half-sharp. It is neither G nor G-sharp. It is G-half-sharp in between, I think he does that on Moon River which won a Grammy. If you want to hear him do full a capella, that's the one to look at. He edited the video himself, too. Anyway, for future reactions consider they very old "All Night Long" where he does show off some along with Quincy Jones and Take 6 or "Don't You Know" with Snarky Puppy for great ensemble works, Plenty of others, too many to name. Seeing him in concert with a full orchestra is amazing and the best concert I ever went to, including where he turns the audience into a 3 part harmony choir. He used those audience choirs in Little Blue in fact. I like the way you do a short rewind where so we can hear what your comment is about and don't stop and talk a long time in the middle. That seems unique. By the way, Djesse Vol 4 is coming out late February and then his American tour will start.

He has edited a lot of his videos himself, but not Moon River though. It's produced by a company called Light Sail VR but co-directed by Jacob.

Wow, you really know how to do a reaction video! It's delightful watching your expressions as you notice all the details in his music. It helps me to hear things I never noticed before. And your eloquent analysis helps me (with my poor musical education) to understand and appreciate it through a musician's ears. Please keep reacting to JC - this is wonderful!

Moon River is an amazing work of art, but what's astonishing is that, when I asked Jacob how long it took him to create it, he told me, "2 weeks." 2 WEEKS!

Fix You!! Jacob Collier covered Coldplays fix you, and I think it’s maybe the most impressive musical display I’ve seen. From a single person. Also your example of stones in a body of water causing ripples was perfect .

Your editing in this video is absolutely genius. Having the track continue to not have that jarring effect of abruptly stopping the sound when pausing. For this type of music that comepletely entrances you it is so nice to have. I noticed that the track does continue and that you would miss stuff but you even synced up the bars to repeat if there was something worth reacting to for the following bars. Absolutely amazing choice.

Thank you! The goal was to make the reactions differently than everyone else and make them easy to watch. I appreciate you appreciating the details.

@@LeonardoTorresMusic I was watching a lot of reactions to Jacob that day and yours definitely stood out! It kept me more "immersed" in the reaction as I didnt feel like I was having small emotional resets everytime the video is paused. I didnt see anyone else commeneting about it, which surprised me. I feel like details like those ones require actual effort to think about so big props to you for going the extra mile👌

I can't wait to see the next JC you cover. You offer a blend of intellect and emotion uniquely required for the journey into this new universe of experience. Its insanely rich and now increasingly peopled by other stellar musicians, often too good for mainstream. Oh, subscribed.

Should you be interested… There was a particular video Quincy Jones saw of JC which, after seeing, he told his staff, “Find him and sign him.” That video is “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing”

Good reaction to a lovely, soothing song. You should react to "Jacob Collier - All Night Long (Official Video)". Three a cappella groups (Take 6, THE AEOLIANS OF OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY, and Jacob Collier). Collier wrote the orchestral arrangement in about 6 hours. My favourite "Easter Egg" is his mum (seen very briefly) playing violin. I would have loved to have my Mum play on a Grammy winner 😂, Collier's best instrument is piano, and maybe cutlery. 🤔 Best Wishes for a Happy Healthy, Peaceful 2024. ☮

Consider reacting to "Jacob Collier - Moon River", his a cappella masterpiece. His Mum sings 2nd, then his two sisters. You'll recognise some of the others. They're all people in his phone. He asked them to individually sing "Moon". He built the harmonies by ear. He doesn't use pitch correction or autotune on his voice.

You just started to fall down in the Jacob Collier rabbit hole. In spite of his age he has produced so much music in all genres. Many have already given you tips on more of his songs to react to. Please don’t react to all the ones that everyone else does though. You said something about he could have his own a capella group. Well, that’s how he started on RU-vid, more or less. Go to his channel and scroll down to his earlier videos and you will find it. Also find some piano solos - absolutely incredible. His orchestra arrangements on Djesse vol 1 are exquisite. And more: Funk songs, Jazz songs, Folk tunes, rap songs, rock songs, pop songs. All of them just equally as greatly produced (by himself). And the newest songs dive into new areas. His latest single release is a Latino song with a twist. Well… all songs have a twist. Or two. Or three or more. And it’s just like you said, he is playing around any way he feels like with music. Exploring and joking with music. And collaborating with all the greatest musicians in the world. It’s the deepest rabbit hole in music history. And he is still not even 30 years old…

You want to know something EVEN MORE insane about this song? Play the beginning 15 seconds and then pause and play the last 10 seconds of guitar….notice anything? The song starts in D (sort of) and ends in D (a piano D). Sun of a gun went from a D (A=432hz) to D (A=440hz) without us even knowing….

Saludos!! You've got to react to more of his stuff! Loved the video, you clearly put work into these which makes it a pleasure to watch, and your reaction was so genuine, was great to see you vibing. Please react to Bridge over Troubled Waters, All Night Long and You and I, some of his most moving stuff, promise you won't regret!

I'm LOVING your Jacob Collier reactions! One of my favorite things is watching musicians react to Jacob for the first time. Other than a few piano lessons I took as an adult, I am not a musician so so much of Jacob's music is beyond me - but watching musicians' reaction to his music helps me appreciate it more. If interested, I bet you'd love a fairly recent documentary on Jacob that aired on the BBC called something like "Jacob Collier - In The Room Where It Happens". Early on in the documentary they talk about a teenaged Jacob releasing his arrangement of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" on RU-vid and the immediate response from people like Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones. Basically, Quincy Jones was completely blown away and told his people to immediately track down that kid! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ERvd5QjupSU.htmlsi=cFWfdHtUUgNl4MU-&t=710 A recent article on Jacob in the UK edition of Rolling Stone quoted Quincy as saying, "I have never in my life seen a talent like this."

So enjoyed this! Musical insight balanced with genuine emotional/mental reactions. Both are so very precious. I particularly enjoyed your pointing out that he is not attempting to impress - but rather enjoying all the toys and activities in the playground. I couldn't agree more with your insight. Thank you!!! Liked and subscribed ...
