Thanks Phil! Your videos are awesome! Jadam is absolutely incredible. The taste has been surreal! I have a friend who throws away his smith brebas - I honestly don’t think they taste like mine did or he would have cut off his arm first! He uses Jacks religiously and very methodically.

@@afig3539 Aw thank you so much! This is great news as I'm using it to jumpstart the microbiome in my soil for all my in-ground trees and bring it the good microbes and push out the bad ones (like Root Knot Nematodes) as well! Looking forward to seeing more of your progress and stellar figs.

🤣 He’s an introvert, my dad. He was blown away! He is Greek. My mom Assyrian. They have a home in Greece that they go to during our summers usually. Someday, I would love to go taste all the Greece figs!!

What are your most anticipated varieties? (All of them, am I right?!)

@@afig3539 Ha - yeah well I've been eating figs my entire life growing up (Lebanese decent), but I never knew there were different kinds. I think I just remember that the softer/riper, the better. And that certainly holds true. I am excited to try them all, especially all these fancy berry varieties, so yeah it would be super hard to pick (I dont even know any of them - lol), but I'm most excited about all my different Lebanese varieties. I'm up to 7 or 8 now, and I have others from the region also (that arent as popular but are supposed to be amazing). But then I'm also most excited about all these tropical varieties madeira island and these other Portuguese/Spanish types. And of course the Greek, Italian and French. I might only have 40 varieties, but I think I went crazy. The good news (well actually bad news) is I pretty much have no more space. Thank goodness the kids and wife love them as much as I do, so they are good with giving up their old playing grounds for our new figgies - whahah I'm excited through you for your breba tonight. I am sure it is going to be amazing like the others. PLEASE do not forget me when the main crop comes through. Overnight shipping goes a long way....

Yep, you’ve got all the awesome varieties! That’s so cool that you are Lebanese - I am an Assyrian from Iraq. I can’t believe my eyes when I saw videos of all these different types of figs. That’s what made me crazy for figs. If you want to buy figs, you can look up ProFig. He is in California and will send you tree ripened figs! I did that a couple of times until mine started giving figs. I wish you much much success!! 🙏

Thank you!! The Italian Honey is in a 10-gal, the Smith was in a 5-gal but I have a Smith in a 7-gal and another in a 10-gal. It’s the 5-gal that gave me the Breba though. 😊

I didn’t leave it on the tree long enough. It would have darkened from the sugars. 👎🏻

I’m in Illinois. I’ve had my Smith trees for 3 years. However, the one I just got the brebas off of was an airlayer from last year. It was one of the branches of my original tree. So root system is only 1 year old!

Thank you! I used organic Miracle Grow. I gave up trying to create my own. I add crushed eggshells to every pot (at the base of the roots) and crushed dried banana peels. (Yep, potted!)

Hi Catherine, I saw your video and was in shock at how far ahead the greenhouse and heat helped my trees to be. I would have been in exactly the same situation- it was a really good comp. If you go with the diesel heater I got, plus electricity- I was averaging about $150 per month ($100 for the diesel at the ridiculous prices these days)…I really only needed to run it in the evenings through the morning because when the sun comes out, it heats it automatically. I hope this helps! I wish you a delicious fig eating season, C!! 🥰

@@afig3539 That’s not too bad for cost. $ If my greenhouse helps this summer to ripen my long season figs. I will do it again next season. I might heat during the fall. But not all winter. Not something I want to budget for. BUT I’m so happy for you. 😊 ✨
