can anyone believe he is an American and did his schooling and college in USA? We indians in US give lot of importance for Indian classical music and dance.
He is born in Chennai.. he may have completed schooling and college in USA but he is Indian by birth and music which he learnt from Berkley college of music but don't say he is American.

Jagadodharana… aadisidalu Yashoda… Saint-composer Purandara Dasa composed this song in the Aprameya temple at Malur, a village on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway, a few kilometres from Channapatna.
Yeah it's a beautiful temple with a Krishna crawling and butter in his hands.. Purandara dasaru was so mesmerized with this beautiful Krishna he composed this song on the spot.. The local people love this Krishna and offer him toys made of wood, especially newly married couple.. That's how Channapatna became famous for toys..

Please do the math before repeating illogical claims. He lived for 95 years, i.e. 8.322 lakh hours, so he must be composing 1 song every two hours for every hour of his life. Realistically, he composed a few thousand beautiful songs, most of which are available today. The raga classifications of Carnatic music was the work of Venkatamakhin.

@@hsramesh4101 I did not say how he composed them because the evidence for how he composed is lacking. Yes, by tradition and projecting our aspirations, we wish that compositions were spontaneous and, on the go, but who knows. We do know that Jagododharana was composed in Malur town near Mandya, so maybe some were composed spontaneously. Because they were written down, perhaps there was some organizational arrangements that we are not aware of.
For people wondering why so many comments regarding pronunciation.. Correct pronunciation of text is foundational to Carnatic Music. He has repeatedly mispronounced a key word in the text which is not to be expected by someone at his level. Like falling of an apparatus in gymnastics

I just do not care how he pronounces.. how he sings.. how he gestures.. the very fact that an NRI guy is performing a Carnatic Kacheri is enough for me.. that is his own style.. signature.. commitment.. to classical music.. hope a lot of Indian singers and youth feel ashamed looking at his dedication towards Classical Music...
This is how one disrespects a composer's lyrics. The bhāva is in the lyrics, else they could have simply composed "akāra* sounds and be done with it. A singer's background is no excuse! As a professional s/he *should* learn the importance of the lyrics of a composition! Far too many teachers take the attitude you take and the result is not good!
For music sound is central than pronunciation. He got that immensely. Had he born in Kannada family, he would have got pronunciation right. How many who get pronunciation right can take the singing to heights !?
