Jagex Is Doing This To Us Again.... 

I've been surprised at the lack of pushback on this particular promo, it has to be one of the most aggressive so far. I hate how increasingly gameplay is balanced around treasure hunter MTX. This cosmetic armour override could so easily have been what the base armour looks like but it was saved for MTX. The same applies to soul and aurora dyes. Even Necromancy as a skill does not have enough content for a 120, it is obvious they just wanted to make the grind longer to sell more XP.

on top of that they also nerfed the amount of oddments you get right before this promotion started lol. I'm glad i at least managed to get 6 tokens for the guard and lantern without having to spend money or buy bonds. and i barely had any oddments. i could only buy keys with oddments on the first day. the rest was just daily challenges/drops and stuff like that

The other thing that's ridiculous to me that I noticed from the video is the inflation of bonds over time. I haven't played in a while but still try to keep up to date on what's going on in the game, and bonds are way more expensive than the last time I played. I think they were under 30m each. Makes it very unrealistic for the vast majority of players to ever afford one with in game gold, which was one of the primary reasons for their creation in the first place. Jagex should seriously consider creating a hard cap on the in game gold value of bonds since they are tied directly to real world money. Aside from when I got extremely lucky on a clue scroll one time, I've never made enough in a month between pvm and flipping to be able to afford a bond at the price they're at now.

these are cosmetic items that have no value in the game , they dont even let you sell it anymore so if anything this is a good thing, that means this promo is not P2W. They did it right this time in my opinion , basically you have a chance of rolling for the item aswell as they have given you a back up to earn the currency to purchase them guaranteed instead of hoping you are lucky. Again dont blame your need to get all the shiny outfits on JAGEX this is 100% a you problem and you cannot blame jagex for not making it so easy to get your fix. Yes they are praying on your FOMO , but guess what , i can guarantee you these will come back in the future again. Whats the point of making these items available to literally every player , it loses its novelty. Quick maths will tell u full set will get set u back at the most 184 keys , 150 keys are going for 18 pounds sterling right now , so you can get the full set for less than 20 if you do your dailies and buy some extra keys with oddments. Which is exactly what you said you would be happy to pay. Really overblowing this for no reason.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about this on Reddit and since I'm not a collector I have a hard time relating. I don't support Jagex illegitimate money-grabbing and predatory practices but I don't really think this is out of proportion. With my daily keys and challenges I can easily grab a couple of those cosmetics, and as you mentioned if I really wanted all those I could just spend all my in game wealth. I think it's costly to be a collector and this isn't an entirely unfair price.

Digital Fomo on this level should be illegal.

The FOMO component is annoying. This is why Riot doesn't get much flack for their skin shops. You either buy the skin outright or not. Runescape pretty much makes it a gamble even when buying keys. I'd rather them just makes skins and sell them as whole. That's part of the reason why I moved onto another MMO.

On top of this taking a ridiculous amount of keys for mains, I'm sad my iron will never be able to get these cosmetics, even if I wanted to buy it. They aren't fantastic or anything, but there's quite the limited selection as far as death guards and lanterns atm.

Sigils should be put on vorkath drop table after a month or 2 😒 Can even make them like aod chest level rarity but untradeable

They stopped caring ages ago as much they talk about making changes but they need revenue yet we lack updates compared to the old days but different era I guess....make sure you get your voices across in their winter survey (still meh they know what players think i'm sure of it)

We all know MTX aint going anywhere. Only thing i can think of going forward for games is to reduce the price of MTX a considerable amount ang give more for the money spent. If everyone knew that spending £15 on keys garanteed the outfit so many people would do it

Well, I got a deal for 75 keys and they’d give me another for free so for the first time I bought it. I got all the pieces from about 170 keys total. So it was $20something to get it but I was after the bonus exp and items.

More than half of the issue with the hero pass was that it gave boosts in game that were devaluing other aspects of the content. I actually don't understand why we're complaining that jagex is basically selling cosmetics for money...they don't have gold on this promo, and they barely have xp on it...This promo is exactly the types of promos that should be in game going forward because the only people that will actually go for it are the whales. Also its extremely common for promos to come back with the same rewards, so even the FOMO factor here isn't nearly as strong as you're implying, not to mention you did all of your calculations based off of being unlucky vs average luck, and you imply that players will go for both full outfits vs 1, or even pieces of 1 etc. I generally agree with your opinions on stuff, but I feel you're extremely off base with this one.

I couldnt care less about this stuff honestly because i still enjoy playing the game. Always something to do. BTW i got the entire soul reaver outfit completely free. $1 sirius xm trial offer for 140 keys. Cancel the trial after recieving the keys and got refunded the dollar.

Jagex made this event for the whales, it isn't even content you can access unless you purchase keys/bonds. Jagex is clear in their motive here, they're making DLC. Some games weave MTX around the game, But Jagex weaves the game around MTX. The game is MTX now and runescape is the sideshow.

It is a money grab, no different to the odderments. Just a way to make up mtx failing so bad.
