I'm just gonna look at my nearly 20 counter strike history and say this: -Prop hunt servers -Zombie escape servers -Maze/escape room servers -Map wide castle wars/battle servers -... And for all people complaining about OSRS not being oldschool anymore, 2005-2007 servers 😂
Map wide Castle Wars is prob the best idea to ever implement. Im of opinion something like this should actually be a permanent server. We need something exciting and new for oldheads like me who barely log in anymore
I still can not believe Jagex are making official private servers. I remember back in like 06 when MoparScape came out and we were all geeked on having 10M stacks of obby shields and d meds lmao
there is a randomizer community that was super stoked for project zanaris ever since we got whiff of private servers being possible when the survey went out. we all responded positively back then and are so happy its going to happen. OSRS randomizers are going to be so sick.
Out of all the ways for Jagex to generate more revenue, custom servers sure seem like a much better option than other things they have tried in the past. Its also a great way to generate attention for the game. I started playing because I saw Settled's videos, and I know I'm not the only one
This will go down as the best announcement for the game, forever! Custom servers are THE step towards a much larger playerbase. I cannot wait for the community to come up with tons of new ways to play the game & I will be playing through most of them ;)
I'm saying this partly because of a youtuber I saw recently doing this, but also because I've been doing a randomizer playthrough of Elden ring - but an ACTUAL randomizer server would be super fun. As in, rather than a plugin just pretending to unlock stuff for you, you could kill a goblin and it might drop a rune scimmy, or something like that.
Thanks so much for the shoutout for my friend Jon for his birthday, one of the coolest things ever! Was watching the episode while talking to him on discord and lost my mind, when he asked what was going on I asked if he'd seen the newest Runescape Chronicles vid. I got his live reaction, priceless. Again, thank you. Love the vids, keep up the great work -Warol
I would love to see some type of Tower Defense / Tower Wars, type of servers in Runescape, not sure if it would be possible, but something with an evolution curve and multiple types of maps and challenges to not get repetitive would be amazing. Using skills to get specific types of towers and skilling exp being a reward from those games played. Ofc you can go much more deeper and complex than that, but just as a base idea, i would DEFINELY play something like that.
I’d love to see Zanaris get to the point where we can have entirely new game modes built. It’s been my dream to see a moba like game mode in OSRS. Think about it, we already have xp and leveling. We already have team set up lobbies like castle wars. We have items. All we need is somehow being able to program npcs down three lanes, towers, a nexus, and a way to modify either the prayer or combat tab to allow for specific abilities you can choose.
they're letting the hype of the announcement take over n 2 months from now they're gonna announce the servers are 14.99/month to host (edit: not a bad thing! probably the best MTX angle they can take without backlash just funny)
Honestly, for a private server that doesn’t sound unreasonable to me, given the costs involved in providing it. However they desperately need to invest in customer service if they’re going to be charging anything for private servers!
Agreed, the money people will through at RSPS' is INSANE. So many scapers can't seem to see how this won't fracture the osrs community. It'll do quite the opposite, it will fracture the RSPS' community.
@@runescapeppl41not charging money to play them it wont. The rsps community has been doing this stuff for years. It will be interesting too say the least.
My first and main thought with private servers is that it’s just going to be the primary way to practice things like Zuk, Sol, and all combat achievements. Just teleport the player directly to the end of any difficult content and let them practice over and over again. That will severely devalue main game achievements. Not sure how I feel.
All of the ideas and proposals seem well-thought out and each will have opinions from both sides of the playerbase, but I wanted to ask about zanaris specifically. I believe that Zanaris will reduce the number of players in the main game, which in turn will deprioritize the updates and management of it, since more server power and dev time will be required to maintain those private servers. Do you guys think that project Zanaris is a good idea overall?
i would love to practice boss monsters on privat servers and then try it on osrs. i aint got that time to learn the inferno for 50h, just for me to die at zucc after 5 seconds.
I had the idea for a boss that drops various skilling tools that depending on what the tools are attuned to, give either double xp and don't give items or double drops and give no xp.
it would be fun to have a server that made it so you could only level one gathering skill , so you need to trade for other things like logs if your a miner or farming lol
On the legalizing or RWT. Do you think this is why they banned Death Matching? Eliminating any game of chance or "Gambling" would allow them to not get in trouble with any governing bodies.
I cannot use chat on my iPad, the loot tracker on iPhone is bugged counting shards in prif, and I still have to log completely out to switch accounts all associated with that jagex account they made us do. Honestly, I would just like some of this stuff be be addressed
What customer service do you even need? Login and play. If you're incorrectly banned or something - sure; and that should have high priority - but what else would even exist?
@@z33JR customer service team would spend more time deleting emails of all the shit takes and stupid complaints from player base than solving actual problems
CTC is already planning to create a Zanaris server to program a bruteforce script that puppeteers players to combine triggers and actions to finally get the 7th Varlamore token.
This will be the final nail in the coffin for RSPS, as someone who has played private severs as much as the main game I will miss it but having the security of Jagex will be good, I think already existing servers may move to the Jagex hosted if they already have established player bases. Would love to see a high revision pre EoC version of the game like Exiled or Fatality 614 so people can do easts hybridding with soupsplit ect again.
Rsps will still be popular as players are invested in their rsps accounts and things like not wanting Jagex to track their spicy jokes on their own servers and ironically get banned on their "own" (rented) server like has happened in other games with official private servers.
They may use alot of resources now for this idea. But may save on future update ideas by owning anything somone creates on there private servers. This would also combat with the rsps that charge you money to get desired items like seed boxes.
Seriously they should add a way to import different caches. Would love a strictly 2004-2005 server with all the modern Qol. Sure it would be just nostalgic trips but i would hang around from time to time. Also exact same game we have now but without grand exchange. Ge would be replaced by a crater filled with broken gambling bots and begging bots.
I really hope there's not gonna be an enormous player drain to custom servers. It might be very tempting to just make an account on a custom server with 10x xp for example and not even bother with the (extremely grindy) main game anymore. Especially for new players.
I feel project Zanaris will help creators but will ultimately hurt the OSRS community. Just my opinion and you can come back to this comment in a year and I guarantee you’ll agree.
I was originally of the same opinion, but there are already RSPS, just not official ones and I don’t feel like it’s going to effect the main game the same way RSPSs currently do-not much. But now jagex can charge memberships for people that use official ones
@danielramin6734 they could but I don't think that would be the case. The only reason to charge members is to restrict content and items in offical. By renting the server you would be paying them for your friends / community to play. At the most I could see them offering different packages ie f2p worlds And member worlds with basic customisation for xp drops ect. And premium packages with world editing ability's.
My thoughts on the Summer Summit: - Not at all interested in Project Zanaris; I feel like that's mostly an update created for content creators, and not so much regular players. - Varlamore updates look fine, but nothing about it felt surprising; most of it had been revealed already iirc. - Wrathmaw is a horrible idea across the board: a daily boss that spawns at a random time during the day. Better hope it's not while you're at work/school, or you'll have to wait till tomorrow for your next chance at fighting it. Again, an update that feels like it exclusively caters to full-time content creators. - A Leagues announcement was to be expected, so while I'm happy about it, I don't really get why they played it up like some big reveal. - The HD&API stuff is probably very important for mobile players, but could've had its own separate update outside from the summit. It's not really a 'content' update, after all. - All of the game jam updates are great! However, all of these had been shown previously, so again: I don't get why they acted like it was some big reveal. The previous update was "Hey we're working on this", and the Summit update was "Hey, we're almost done making this". Overall, I thought it was a pretty disappointing/lackluster Summit. A lot of it had already been announced in some way, and the stuff that wasn't announced is either a bad idea, or feels like it's created for a small portion of the player base. Definitely not the same impact as the DS2 announcement.
I think private servers are a bad idea, and kinda sad for me tbh. Why ate they encouraging splitting up the player base? Seems like they're making an mmorpg less massive, and less multilayer.
if it would be possible with project zanaris then i would add ,,my own content" such as pet-battles similiar to world of warcraft ones, basically updating ratpits so its duellarena for pets AND my favorite: Forestry 3: Forinthry Island. a huge island east of the wilderness, basically its the wilderness but not connected to the wildy and a living forest with ents, a community tavern thats like shades of morton(needs to be build and repaired by players) in the heart of the forinthry forest where skillers gather in a pvp enabled area and use the nature to get protected by pkers such as planting enriched oak-redwood ents that attack skulled players. idk man. its kinda a lot that comes to my mind
These private servers are one of the best things to happen for the community as a whole. Why? Because it will fracture a community, not ours OSRS though, it will fracture the RSPS community completely.
Too everyone who thinks jagex ran rsps would fracture the rsps community.... why do you think that? I have yet to see an rsps that forces you to pay a monthly fee.
Private server where the logout button is removed and the window X won’t let you logout, will actually send you to baby jail so people can laugh that you tried X logging
@@stidox are you one of the brain rot kids who are a transformer irl? you do realize you didnt even give a constructive response besides being a incel repsonding to my comment w/ a attempted troll. bro wake up you are the issue the world has now
That sad moment you realize there are already custom servers privately owned by players. There are videos, 1 of which is “faladornication”, a music video parody of Californication. So long as you know how to code, you can edit the server however the f you want. You wanna fly? Alright. You want 500 max cash stacks? Done. Want all quests to have 1 point reward to be a d…? Go for it. The catch. The servers are too pricy for the average gamer. Only a few were ever sold. Jagex will possibly deny this, but I remember it being a thing some years ago. Jagex, this is nothing new, your just trying to not die at this point tbh.
9:30 doesnt this classify as death matching? Holding a specific amount of cash and value in gear risk? Pvp is supposed to be a guess not organzied gambling. They just spoke about this yet it still happens. They are gonna remove pvp again if they dont stop
Mat K's idea of "custom items" was in part polled by Jagex with the new skill poll too, from what I remember a part of the Shamanism pitch included item enchantments. Think that would be pretty neat if done right (already exists in a small way with poisoned items).
You guys are literally just getting updates from rs3. Wildy worm boss, aggression potions, prayer renewal potions, araxxor. I'm not complaining because I love these things, just kinda funny rs3 gets so much hate despite being the future of osrs
So does this mean there will be a dicing server, a dming server, a flower server, etc? lol... I can see the bots in main game GE already come to XXX server the best official private server ever! Guaranteed big wins.
