When you said "But, I've prolly got a couple hours of scraping, and burning, and all that" I thought... a couple hours?! Man this guy's fast! Looks like 6-8 hours of cleanup to me. Then, you returned to say "Alright, I'm a little embarrassed to say how long..." Then I thought AHA! He IS human. lol What looks to be the "little stuff" seems to add more time to the ticket than the big stuff you think will be an issue. Your projects looking good! I look forward to seeing it in paint.

Chuck, with a large smile I appreciate the honesty of “ this is what it really looks like”, tools all over the work area just a regular mortal.👍👍. A question for you. Once you had the aluminum fender fitted to its final position, why would you not put a flange in the original steel so that the aluminum pieces would blend onto that rather than overlap on the surface? Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see this evolve. Rick

Thanks for the compliments Rick, they are much appreciated! I actually did consider stepping that fender down in regards to the original skin with a flange just like you are asking. And if I was doing this over again from scratch I would definitely do it that way. However, since this was already set up with those holes, time was of the essence, and I would’ve had to do the step on the car and to be honest I didn’t have a tool handy that was going to do that the way I wanted to, I just decided to keep it simple and keep this as it was based on time etc. but you’re correct ultimately that would be the way to go. 😉

Chuck, thank you for the response. On another topic, have you ever had an open house or tour of your shop? It would be fascinating to see. I would certainly understand not doing those as you have a business, deadlines, obligations etc. Though my summer home is in Northern lower Michigan and winter ( permanent residence) in Florida, I think I would plan a road trip around that!😁😁😉🍷
