Thanks for the enthralling video, Mark. I salute your dedication to making such informative videos each and every week. A 30 minute video takes at least 6 to 12 hours in planning, shooting and then editing. So appreciated.

Have picked up some SVR Carbon fiber hood vents, looking at swapping side vents but also purchased black plastic SVR vents since the carbon fibre will be a pain to swap out or at least the $1000 dollar ones I bought as they don't have clips. Brilliant video, I’ve a 5.0S convertible and have had numerous roof issues. When the car is left outside in wet weather, you open the roof on a nice day but it never goes back up. It appears water gets into the roof base area and steams up the electrics. I’ve had to leave the car with the roof down numerous times now in a a garage until it dries out. Dealers haven’t a clue how to fix this either! I love the car but that bloody roof! Also the drivers door handle has stopped popping out on opening the car!

The door handle and the folding mirrors are a couple items or even the pop up vent that I fear will let go with age. It should not be a huge fix either way, but a bit obnoxious nonetheless.

Mark, thanks for the tip on closing the hood. You can disable the auto stop/start completely by disconnecting a single wire under the trunk panels - about a 5 minute job, and it can be reconnected any time. I found it on a jag forum. I hate that “feature” and could never remember to turn it off every time I started the car. I wish I could find a way to permanently disable it on my wife’s new car.

In Florida, we don't pay anything for a windshield, no deductible, it's the law enacted by the government. We don't pay the highest premium on car insurance for no reason. I guess it makes sense, people driving around with broken windshields are dangerous. Add that to the retired people on sixteen drugs driving around, it's definitely a good choice by the government.

As far as the steel underneath goes,I suggest taking it to get rustproofing in any steel cavities and underseal the under body of the car. This isn't too expensive and will slow rust problems dramatically, get it checked by the rustproofing company once a year and also you should get a long term warranty included. Doesn't your insurance cover glass replacement? If not, change insurance company/cover to one that does. Also the plastic at the back that isn't fitted tightly, have you thought about putting self tapping screws in from behind to pull it up tight and keep him position? I also would pay extra on every second service and demand the differential fluid/oil be changed for peace of mind ( the extra cost for it would be worth it).

Thanks.a lot Ricky I do have glass coverage and was just waiting to get it done but definitely a must have for these cars. I was thinking next time it’s on the hoist I would have a closer look at the rear plastic parts and see if there was a nice way to pull it together

@@markholubetz No doubt. Don't forget the RWD V8s are about the same weight as an AWD V6. And the 2015 R is the collectors' R to have IMO. Its not really because its RWD, its just the best power to weight ratio outside of the P7, which is quite close. Or 2014 if you want a rag top. Plus all the V8s tune to the same limit.

The problem with using warranty for cosmetic issues is that your car is in the shop while they wait for parts and the supply chain is a disaster. I would make notes of all the little cosmetic defects and before the original warranty runs out, schedule service to address all such issues at once. Wondering if you have the heating coils inside the laminated windshield. That windshield is not cheap to say the least.

That’s a great point that there seems to be a few things between services worth looking and hitting them with it all at once. I’ve owned 3 new FTypes roadsters since they were launched, the first was a 3 ltr S and the last two have been SVRs. I also run an XFR and current Range Rover, all of these have common components. I can honestly say that 95% of the issues you have identified, I’ve never seen or heard of. Never needed to replace a windscreen, and from what I could see from yours, it looked like one crack migrated into the others. Once a screen is cracked, you have lost its integrity. Can’t understand why your screen cost is so high, current price in the U.K. is c. £650 fitted, or around $1100 CD. Never had any issues with either the V6 or V8, injectors, leaking, lose rattling super chargers etc and I drive my cars hard. Can’t understand why a SIM card would cause you infotainment issues as it’s there for live traffic information, although it can be used to download Nav firmware, however, this can be downloaded by other means. Nav map updates are downloadable from JLR and uploaded via a USB stick. Any SIM card can be used as long as it has a data allowance, so you can use the one from your cell phone. There is nothing special about the sim, any dealer that tells you that is pulling the wool. The sticky windows is a common problem with many cars that have drop windows when opening. A light smear of silicone grease or Vaseline will help, or simply use warm water/ de icing spray before you attempt to open the door. I notice you model appears to be a pre Sep 18 model, has a much better sound than the later models, and the current 2021 models are even less exciting. No issues with rear callipers, perhaps because I have carbon ceramics? If I remember correctly, the stop start doesn’t work in Dynamic mode, which is where I drive mine all the time. This is my last F Type, firstly, they don’t make the SVR anymore and I’ve had three so it’s time for change… very little lives up to the F for the money and it still puts a big beaming smile whenever I press the button.

@@markholubetz hi Mark - I’m fortunate to be able to change my cars quite regularly., however, I ran up c.30k miles in the 3 ltr, only 6500 in the first SVR and around 8000 miles so far in the latest one. I’ve done just 30000 in my 2014 XFR, which of course has the same V8 as the F. I’m a member of the Land Rover advisory board which, as it suggests is LR based but clearly, there are synergies between both brands. I’ve had Jags for 20 years and have driven somewhere approaching 400k miles in them all. I must say I’ve had few issues during that time. It’s a shame legislation has softened up the F in recent times, I wish I hadn’t got rid of my 2016 SVR. Sounded just like a Spitfire.

@@markholubetz excellent drive, I drive it every day, those cars need to be driven, if you don't drive them you may have problems, I didn't drive for 2 weeks while I was overseas on business and the car was mad at me, lol. Tire pressure was down, battery light came up, but once I drove it, everything was fine

You won't remember "British Leyland" will you Mark? Well If it's of any interest to you it sounds to me that there is no difference between British Leyland and Tata Motors both owning Jaguar...they put in the Money and Jaguar are supposed to produce the product aided and abetted by the dealers but this is the same problem being passed between the overhaul owners not trying to better their customer relations. Jaguar's need nurturing in much the same way as their owners do but allowing the dealers to dabble, to do a quick fix is plain wrong, shame on them! And here's me think well at least you don't have to work with British Leyland...how wrong I am!

Hi David, great points I appreciate your comment and Leyland does not totally ring a bell for me but yes, I hear what you are saying and it’s a bit disappointing that the treatment appears to be more superficial and when push come to shove, little is really addressed. Ultimately I still love these cars so for me it’s a bit of the “ownership experience” both good and bad, but there really are no other cars out there to rival the looks, sounds, class, and performance all wrapped into one.

Sounds like this is your first super car. Know this in 20 years if you keep it, it will still be better looking and worth more that any car made of the same class same year for the same money.

We shall see, hope you are right and no, I have owned some great cars like a couple 911s, a 911 Turbo and most recently a Lamborghini Gallardo, which was sold for the next adventure.

@@markholubetz I have the 2015 F-Type R in silver. You may want to find a used one as it is the last year of a true roadster. RWD and projector headlamps just like the E-type roadster.

For sure, sounds like a nice spec. Convertible is great on those crisp mornings or evening runs in the back roads.

@@markholubetz No mine is just like yours just the 2015. I'm not a fan of convertibles.

You should sell this beautiful car and buy a high mileage 94 Celica with ice cold A/C. According to Scotty Kilmer and his Toyota/Lexus worshipping minions they are trouble-free for their first million miles. They only need a occasional oil change and windshield washer top up.

You must be great fun at a party…. zzzzzz. Best sell the car if that’s bad.
