There is no wild left, no place where man isn't affecting nature. Without the DNA diversity being maintained by breeding programs the few hundred left in small pockets will eventually inbreed and become extinct. If being kept in captivity is so bad why do they live on average 10 years longer in captivity? To be hunted, no medical care, and to be on the verge of starvation their whole life, being wild or uncared for their whole lives may or may not be a better life.

@@peterpeplinski9923 That is a very tired old argument. If it were true then the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) wouldn't have a rule prohibiting breeding in order to be certified.

@@genxeratl or that is the opinion of one group and they may be wrong. Other groups of people working with endangered animals have other opinions. They may or may not be right. Most people working with genetic diversity do so hoping the animals can be reintroduced to the wild. I'm glad there are people working with them in the wild and in captivity. Checking dna and transferring an animal thousands of miles so that its bred with somthing diverse is good science.

@@genxeratl i looked up the global federation of animal sanctuaries. Their website looks like it was designed and maintained by a 5 year old. They have accredited big cat sanctuary which is what the video is about and where the cat is going to be bred but you claim they don't certify sanctuaries that breed? Also if you create a large sanctuary and put several of an endangered species in there why wouldn't you want breeding, it would also be the best kind of sanctuary to endorse. Maybe they don't endorse breeding for animals that are sold for profit.

@@peterpeplinski9923 They have NOT been GFAS accredited and in fact if you HAD actually read their site (which is simple and easy to read so design opinion aside) you would have found (and I quote) "No captive breeding (with a potential exception for only those organizations having a bona fide release/ reintroduction program to return wildlife to their native habitat)". STOP pushing this BS!! You KNOW it's a lie and people like you are the reason there are more tigers in the US ALONE in captivity than in the wild. This place is a ZOO as accredited and shown on ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE!
