Very nice video. Wonderful, in fact! My dad purchased me my first car in April 1964. I was sixteen. That "car" was a 2.25 litre petrol 88" Land Rover station wagon built for the North American Dollar Area (NADA). I drove Land Rovers and Rover cars for the next 30 years. While I've not owned a Rover product since about 1995, I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for the "Series" Land Rovers. Perhaps some day, when I finish writing a book I started researching in 1983, I'll look to JLR Classics for a restored late Series IIA or an early Series III. The Land Rovers I used to drive, and I had a number of them over the years, always became members of the family. (I owned a business that sold genuine Land Rover parts in San Diego, California from August 1974 to January 1986.) Hopefully the "new" or, better said "next generation" Defender will not be too significant a departure from the body-on-frame series Land Rovers and the Defenders built from 1948 to 2016. Andy McKane, Springville, Utah and Molokai, Hawaii.

Lol! At 11:10 he says: "they just don't build cars like this anymore" whilst standing in a workshop which is actually building them like this ;-)

One of the more engaging tours. This is some operation Jaguar has. I did not know the extent of their commitment to Jaguar Classic.

I've done the tour and it's just heaven. There's a lot more in the Collection than is shown here but they don't allow the general public to take pictures. If you're a petrolhead put a visit on your bucket list.

Finally stumbled across this vid Batch, & as a Jag fan myself as you can imagine i really liked it. I'd love to visit this place but i feel i'd need many days to view it all & i have so many questions to ask about it. Now not to get too geeky but that Montego at 11:52 really stood out, see so many questions. Keep up the good work 👍

Jag needs to build th C-X75
@TheXJRMAN
@TheXJRMAN 5 лет назад
Agreed, Porsche literally copied it's design, went and won Le Mans and built the 918. The C-X75 was way ahead but Jaguar didn't see the potential like Porsche. They actually sold a handful of the 7 or 8 they made. The Bond car was built by Williams Engineering on a tube chassis, not a true Jaguar hybrid.
@Manbrown1
@Manbrown1 5 лет назад
Sean B The C-X75 that was shown on the Jey Leno channel that car had Williams Racing input in its development & had that production finish they should have developed for production... with there development with electric motors for the I-Pace would make perfect even more for development and production!
@psk1w1
@psk1w1 5 лет назад
Which version of the C-X75 do you mean? The concept car had two tiny turbine engines to generate electric current, and then power the electric drive motors, one in each wheel. The second version used a hyper-tuned 1.6 litre four cylinder engine to power the electric drive motors. The second version is the one shown in the Bond movie, 'Spectre'.
@Manbrown1
@Manbrown1 5 лет назад
Paul Standeven .. I was referring to what you mentioned.. two jet turbines that powered the electric motors
@Manbrown1
@Manbrown1 5 лет назад
Paul Standeven The second version was what they used around the test track with the motoring journalists ... considering how they have progressed with electric SUV , they have an even better platform to build from, although their electric SUV doesn’t charge so efficiently in cold weather.., but even still they should rekindle their relationship with Williams racing to help with regeneration tech for a high performance super-hypercar ! With Porsche releasing the E-mission/Taycan and plus they have purchased 10% of Rimac , so you can imagine there next HyperCar will be rather exciting! But with jaguar being involved with Formula E racing they should be able to use the technology to create a hypercar to run with the current crop being developed!

Give the lad his due, he seems to know a lot more about Jaguars than many people I meet. A few errors (theXJ220 was first shown in the 80s, yes but produced in the 90s) and no, the D-types, lightweight E-types nor the XKss's are correct to the original specification. Negative earth and electronic rev counters are just two errors, but there are plenty. They showed a few of the Dr James Hull collection they acquired, but there were a number they didn't, including his XKSS registered DS 11, and a few other notables. Never mind, I enjoyed it.

The first Jaguar I saw was in 1963 an XKE drophead, in BRG, with camel top owned by a Royal Navy Officer attending the US Naval War College. Unfortunately he entered the local car wash, about 4 minutes later his car emerged clean and dry and 30 seconds later the exhaust system arrived, although not dry. The owner was literately jumping up and down.

I was at the british motor museum jist yesterday and it seems so important to show that with good reason, a lot of those cars have not been restored to as new condition. I like the project very much but It does blur the line between the museum and the showroom, between history, consumerism and revisionism. I hope JLR are cautious of erasing the history and baggage these cars arrive with.

I had loads of 2 dr Early Range Rovers, I wish i had one now. 49 yrs on & Still As Cool As Launch day ! I regret selling my last one a 200 TDi 1993 'K' reg. I then bought a Discovery TD5. I wish i could MIX the two. Range Rover Coil Spring Handling with the TD5 performance. . OR a TD5 with coils. or A Rangey with a TD5 engine. PREFERABLY A RANGEY 3.9 V8 Manual box with a lifetime supply of Free Petrol !! The Black CSK's were Fantastic. & cost £££ if you find one.
@A1DJPaul
@A1DJPaul 5 лет назад
@Retro Collected 3 drs are worth more due to rarity Value. I could writ a page full of info . pre late 1972 = plastic seats & NO PAS !!! Horrific to drive. 72' ' L ' reg cars came WITH PAS standard & nylon cloth seats Up to Late '75 ' early 76' the changed to " LOW COMPRESSION " engines starting with an ' 8 ' People bought them . THEN SWAPPED Back to an earlier model with he " HIGH Comp ' Engine 9 : 35 :1 stamped on the Manifold. The Hi comp was Loads better for power & performance. The Low com' ran until 1982 . Trust me Low comp' is shite ! Hence the early Hi Comp' with PAS was the ONE to Have & Keep from 73' to 82 '. Or the 2 dr CSK special edition in around 1990 /91. Black with Leather & wood. chrome bumpers & Hi Comp engine. Possibly EFi Maybe 3.9 ? not sure from memory . They are worth Loads of money. Be Careful THERE ARE LOTS of FAKES & RINGERS OUT THERE. The all came with a Plaque on the dash with a number.

Fascinating, however, can someone explain why this reporter continually questions his own statements? It's rather annoying...i.e. "This is fascinating...isn't it" or "This would look so cool in Knightsbridge ....wouldn't it?" Occasional questioning is OK, but this makes him sound very unsure of himself.
