Jagdroid is a great upgrade for the screen system, which will give access to android auto and apple car play, it also greatly improves screen quality.

If you turn the steering wheel power adjustment on the column OFF at 12:04 - the driver seat will remain in place and won't fold back or lower when the ignition is key is removed.

I don’t know how many times I have heard people say it’s not real wood. It is a real wood veneer on aluminium forms. It’s not plastic!

Thank you! Was just about to comment. Annoys me how everyone just assumes no cars have real wood dash. It’s almost always veneers if it’s a decent marque..

I had a 2004 s type 2.7d same colour it had heated front screen and heated front seats was a nice car,to many cars now have stiff suspension not good for UK roads imo

That centre console can be upgraded to a modern android apple auto with modern GPS quite reasonably priced. Update the lights with led at the back a Halford will fit you new brighter front bulbs. You can chip these quite cheaply and I would go for the xs version with the body kit and better grills. Then you will have something very different in this world of same old shapes. Beware people advertising XS models which aren't as they don't have the body kit. Find a good specialist and these will last a long time. Fill with premium diesel at least every second tank. Service the gearbox etc.

Great video! Get you home lights were available on the rover 75, however I believe the timing on it had to be set from the T4 computer.

Heated screen was optional. I had it on my both 2000 and 2004 S-types.

Hi thanks for watching. Exactly the sort of optional extra that should be standard as it aids safety...! Shame when the accountants get involved in costing the extras! Spread the petrolhead word!

Hi, how do you recommend one checks for that heating/cooling problem next time an S Type is being test driven?
@journeyofapetrolhead

Hi Christina For any test drive of a car with an air conditioning system, I would take the car on a long enough drive so that the engine temperature gauge rose to its normal operating temperature. Then I would turn on the a/c to max cold setting and set the blowers to air vent so you can feel the air blowing on you (maybe aim away from yourself first to let any dust blow elsewhere!). It should feel cold and stay cold for the rest of the test drive. When you return to the garage/owner, I would then alter the temperature to its hottest setting and ensure it blows hot and then reset it to max cold and see that it reacts to the temperature change. If you are testing a car with dual zone climate control, the same as above but in this case set the two zones in reverse (ie start the passenger hot and the driver cold, and then go as suggested with the alterations). Here you are testing that both sides work and that they can differentiate between the zones. Thanks for watching! Be sure to like, share and subscribe.... -The Petrol Head

On Forums i often read that the backseats are cramped, which doesnt look like it when watching your video. May i ask how tall you are?

on the left of the steering column is a little dial that turns on/off the seat positioning when you insert the key. I found mine by accident and prefer it off.

Yes that's correct. I like the seat moving back, it's a nice touch. Thanks for watching!

How do you mean the AC sometimes blow cold and sometimes blow hot? If it suddenly or randomly change the temperature that means it has a bad evaporator temperature sensor. Actually the car has 3 sensors. 2 of them on the driver side under the dashboard and one is on the passenger side somwhere under the glove box.

Hi Johnny. Thanks for watching. They make a good second hand purchase, with the right service history. Pity about the car tax regime here though...☹️

@@seantreloar1186 Hmm ... soft spot for the S-Type, huh? I really like the look and handling of the Sport models but the S-Type R I drove some time ago was quite something. A shame it hadn't stood the test of time well or I probably would have bought it.

I found the S Type to be slightly awkward, the seats were too low and the dash was too high and short in my opinion.
