In this video will be removing, cleaning and reinstalling fuel injectors in a 97 Jaguar XJ6. The car has been sitting for a while. I had to replace the the fuel pump and fuel filter because the tank had rust in it. So im sure the injector may be clogged with trash. Thanks for the video. I got a 96 xjs that’s been acting up (famous last words). Changed the spark plugs and ignition coils. Now just need to clean the injectors, hopefully don’t need new ones. Question: How do you know you need new baskets? And if you do where do you recommend sourcing them? Thanks again. Edgar

If they are the original injectors and you're gonna pull them to clean them, i would just change the baskets. They are not outrageously priced. You should be able to pick them up at your local part store or eBay and Amazon , rockauto may have them as well

Hello, My Jaguar wont start... cranks and acts like it will start then stop. I am suspecting the injector. Unfortunately, there are not many Jag mechanics here. Before the problem starting it starting jerking.. serious jerking where sometimes it totally goes off and wont come back on until after a while. I do not see oil on the ground to justify an oil leak. I feel I have an injector problem.

Have you check fuel pressure, tested fuel pump relay?

Thank you for the video, I have a question my 1990 Jag XJ6 crank but start this happens after I took my Jag for a transmission oil change I don’t know if they move some wires that now is preventing the Jag to start, any suggestions I will appreciate any help, thank you

What have you check yourself? Do you have spark, fuel iron fuel pressure?

Thanks for the video, I am doing the same job on mine next week to fix an o-ring leak. Did you see any difference in the engine running after you did yours?

I noticed quite a bit. But had a few issues with car.

@@tinkeringjoeVA I am hoping to see some difference in performance (but not much) and really hoping it will fix a hissing noise which seems to be coming from the engine side o-rings on the injectors. They are original, so haven't done a bad job. I've been tinkering with XJ6's for 5 years, let me know if I can help.

Hi joe, after doing all the cleaning the fuel system of the car its been running fine all wk, as i was coming back home tonight went to accelerate from a junction it almost died on me, got it home and trying the engine and its stuggling to go over 2,000rpm and if i push down on the throttle it popping and banging as if it aint firing right , any clues ???, can these get a wet plug ? ive no idea how long the plugs have been on ?

I would start by checking the plugs. If your unsure how long they have been in the car

Thank you so much!! And I have a question I recently changed my fuel pump and my jag was turning on first crank and everything for 4 hours then I stopped like if gas was going into the car. some rubber (was on the fuel pump) got dissolve by the gas and I was just thinking of getting a new fuel pump do you think cleaning out the injector could possibly help fix my problem? I have 96 vanden plas (I’m only 16 and this is my first car lol not really experienced with working on cars)

You say you just replaced the fuel pump. I'm guess the rubber your speaking of was the rubber that went around the fuel pump to hold it on the hanger. Are you getting fuel to the fuel rail? Did you change the fuel filter?

@@tinkeringjoeVA correct that’s the rubber im speaking of… and I change both since the fuel pump came with the filter. I don’t know if I’m getting fuel into the fuel rail I’ll have to check tomorrow morning and what kind of bottle do I use for the injectors (I know you used brake cleaner)

@@tinkeringjoeVA alright thank!! I have trouble with unscrewing the fuel rail it seem it a little fragile any tips without damaging it im trying to but it a little to tight and I don’t to brake it (it’s the one near the pressure regulator)

@@tinkeringjoeVA i did all what you show on this vid today all was going fine didnt even drop anything, turned the lights on on the dash to get the fuel pressure and petrol squirted about 6 feet in the air, its got the crack in the base of the lump that sticks up off the fuel rail for the coupling, drained the fuel rail, cleaned it up an put some jb weld on the crack and leave it over night ? lol
