Jaguar XKR project this week: I have finally got around to clearing a space in the barn and getting the XKR parked up in there. Now we can work day and night on it 👍
Hi John, that's very true buddy. At least we will be in the dry now and have lights, so I can do some work in the evenings too. I'm thinking I am going to paint the walls white as well, make it a bit brighter in there where the jag is 👍
Hope you have some anti rodent protection, Mice and Rats love Jags especially with the cold weather we have been having. I usually put some bait down and chilly oil on the engine wiring loom. Don't know if you have any livestock nearby as that will draw the little critters?
Hi James, Luckily, we dont have animals on the farm anymore. But that is some great advice for trying to keep the little blighters away, and something I will definitely be doing 👍
@@projectsinthebarnCurrently recommissioning an X300 for father in law to keep him off the streets. I have been contemplating an XKR in my life, currently driving a Chrysler 300c touring as my daily and RR L322 as weekend car, I secretly have 12 cars but don't tell the Wife. I don't do the miles and tend to use Wifey's car for long trips and shuffling oldies about. I have had about a dozen Jags from XJ6 to S-type, been a bit love hate but fancy a later XJR for shits and giggles! They seem to suffer from the usual Jag V8 issues and rot?
@jamesmacdonald3090 haha, we sound very similar James 🤣 you have to have a project or two in your life, it keeps us busy, and you know idle hands will get us into trouble! I think when the whole finance debacle is finished on the XF, I may also look at the later aluminium bodied XJ's as I haven't had one of those yet, but who knows with me 😀
Simon, a bizarre thing happened with my XK8. I changed the faulty coolant sensor, and after that the car ran very much like yours, a complete dog, running rich, hunting, unable to hold idle, eventually stalling. I ran diagnostics today and a coolant sensor code came up, so I just put the old faulty unit back in, and the car runs perfectly again! I know you mentioned you had a coolant sensor issue on your other XK8. Maybe for the sake of a few quid its worth changing out the coolant sensor. Mine was new, certainly didn't look faulty, but seemed to mess up the ECU big time.
Hi Buddy, good to hear from you. That is interesting. It's amazing how these little electric sensors can mess with the car so badly. As you say, we'll worth the few pounds to change them over and see what happens 👍
@@projectsinthebarn I know, its crazy, I'm just reading up on this, and apparently they screw up the ECU when the car is cold, as ours obviously are! I've just bought a genuine Jaguar one from SNG Barratt, the one I bought was a repro off eBay, that'll teach me!
@jempitt9974 been there and done that with repro gear before! Some cars you can get away with, but especially around engine or electrical parts, I will always choose genuine jaguar where I can.
