Shame on the parents and coaches for allowing this to happen. If I'm a coach, I'm going over to the other coach to work out a deal where we get the drunk idiot out of the way and have a dad call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher. This is ridiculous and could potentially be dangerous. Or worse, maybe I'm wrong and this guy is a diabetic and needs medical attention. Either way, I can't believe they would just sit there watching this like idiots.
@@SubxZero07 If not putting your son at risk of injury is being a male Karen, so be it. What would you do if you paid me to paint your house and I showed up blackout drunk and spilled paint everywhere? You're not going to pay me. Those parents were paying for the umpire.
As a kid I remember something happening to the ref and the league commissioner took over as ump. Years later I found out he was drunk and the parents didn't want to reschedule the game 😂
@@TerminalM193 "Beer League" could be an actual thing. We take failed minor and old major leaguers and XFL them with custom jersey names. Then we add corked bats, sticky tack for pitchers, steroids legal, drunk umpires who are mic'd up, sponsors on uniforms like NASCAR, pre , mid and post-game WWE interviews, Homerun derby for tie game enders, crowd-rated bat flips, live dugout feeds, team sponsored enforcers who go 1 on 1 if fights break out. Winner gets to eject any one player on the other team.
I'll tell you the ending, the ump puts his hand on the catchers shoulder and leans forward and whispers in his ear, " I'll become prez one day" it was Beijing Biden
ConkeyCrack yes I'm quite aware of that. I was an umpire for quite a few years in my younger days. I never witnessed anything as comedic as this though.
darklordojeda Between his mask problems, and his extremely low stance, it’s a wonder he didn’t fall over backwards. And I just noticed the baserunner on third is leading, which isn’t usually allowed at this level. As for the coach, he showed good tolerance with the umpire (who should ditch the hat, and just use the mask), but he should train his catcher not to turn his body sideways as the pitch arrives. That’s a natural instinct, and both young umpires and young catchers have to fight that instinct. But the umpire really needs some training. I’m guessing he’s a volunteer. I know this is labeled as a “drunk” umpire, but even a sober umpire would have these balance issues with such a low stance, especially if using a balloon.
You’re supposed to wear your hat forward with those masks you’re wearing a ball cap. Catchers have a bit of a different set up for their headgear. They wear a helmet instead of a baseball cap with that kind of mask.
Crazy Canuck Having umpired, I know how an umpire’s supposed to wear a hat. However, the plate umpire’s hat usually has a shorter bill than most other baseball caps. This umpire’s hat has too wide a bill, and he cannot easily put on his mask. At one point, the mask falls off as the pitch arrives, and he completely missed the call (the main reason the catcher turned around). During another pitch, the umpire’s holding his mask on with his right hand and arm, thus negating the only advantage of the balloon. This is why he signaled a strike with his left arm. Some umpires do use the hockey mask style that the catcher is using here. That is worn without a hat. This umpire would have been better off with that style mask. The only reason I suggested getting rid of his hat, or wearing it backwards was to get him through this game. Afterward would be the time to get the proper equipment. It seems obvious to me that he has never done this before, because he really doesn’t know what he is doing. I don’t see any patch, which indicates to me that he is likely a volunteer, with no training, and likely no equipment of his own.
I’ve had a similar experience but in my case the ump was old and fat, I was like 12 and dude leaned on me with one on my shoulder as I caught. Definitely made my legs stronger lol, but this is absurd that’s a grown man drunkenly falling on a kid with no control over himself.
This is fucked up shit lol someone needs to help that catcher out and call the cops on that drunk dude falling on a 10 year old kids back while he catches WTF.
@@rhoonah5849 Well, he had to get there somehow. Good for him. He’s obviously a dedicated professional. He risked possibly getting a DUI, going to jail, and having to pay thousands of dollars in fines, just so that he could be there for the game, and the kids could do what they love. It’s great to see that he took his important responsibility so seriously. It would’ve been lowdown of him to disappoint all the children by not being there, just because of some minor issue with his blood alcohol content. It’s very heartwarming to think about how he overcame such an obstacle to be there for the kids ⚾️ 👍🏿
@@chriswebster24 yes its very sweet that he may have chose to kill some innocent kid riding his bike to his little league game. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're posting was in jest because no one with any brain activity could believe that nonsense.
I agree 100% , Sean. Should have been escorted off the field, cited for public intoxication. Otherwise, his behavior has been condoned. Not a good example for the kids.
How has this not gone viral? I just saw a video with 1.6m views and it was an ump saying "good pitch" to a pitcher. What is wrong with this world . This video is electric gold
I umpired with a drunk base ump (I was at the plate), the guy was a 78 year old vet with a metal plate in his head and it was a blast. He made fun of some of the players during the game and kept things interesting, then he got arrested and I worked the rest of the tourney by myself. true story
So hammered. Not just a little, the kind of hammered where you’ve finished all your beer and are wobbling through the only open place at 2am buying more.
Hahahaa....That ump looks like he's 10....and he's loaded. Pretty good This is a VERY progressive league. Hahaha Later when they asked him how many glasses of beer he had, he stated "just one ...............filled it up 14 times tho !!"
After the first couple stumbles why didn't the coaches step and at least talk to the Ump to at least check on him. Granted it could be alcohol, could be low blood sugar, could be other possible medical reasons for impairment. But this is one of the worst things I've seen in youth sports outside of parents/coaches fighting. At one time the catcher even looks to the bench as if saying "What is going on with this guy?"
I saw this video a couple of years ago. I believe a parent that was involved commented at the time that the ump's drink was determined to have alcohol in it. I want to say this was in the st Louis area. I'm guessing about 9U competitive ball based on the size of the kids and types of equipment.
@HeavyDrop T ive played travel ball and baseball for around 10-11years and was playing for the top10 team in the nation for a while. I totally agree, nothing like this has ever happened nor have i ever heard of anything like it
There was this drunk coach when I was growing up. In the league, all the coaches umped other games. So this one drink coach would get kicked out of nearly every game, and even got kicked out of a game he was umping by the other umpires.
... And yes we did stop the game right after the video stops... We realized there was something wrong with him. There was alcohol in his icy drink on that night the game was rescheduled and the 18 year old umpire was fired from the league.
18? Wow, that's really sad. If he was drinking alcohol at his job he clearly has a problem. Awfully young to be an alcoholic. I hope he gets help and sets his path in a better direction.
Who was the idiot that posted this. Eighteen year old kids makes a bad decision, was probably thoroughly embarrassed that night, then some adult moron posts this to exploit his bad decision and actions (once again, at 18) for YT likes and attention. I'd love to see the idiot poster's worst day from his youth splashed on YT.
Thomas Mahoney Amen my friend. The comment section of this video is the worst I’ve ever seen with do-gooders telling everyone how good and responsible they are and how they would’ve saved the day. It’s pretty disgusting actually.
When I clicked on this video, I expected to just see an umpire that made a really bad call or something. I didn’t think he would actually be drunk, but, sure enough, to my surprise, there really is a drunk umpire in this video. He didn’t even have to make any bad calls for me to notice it, either. I’ve seen some umpires that would make you think they were drunk, but I’ve honestly never seen one like this. This guy is so wasted that he makes most drunk umpires look like they are ok to drive. This is amazing, really.
Actually, not only did he NOT have to make any bad calls for you to notice, but he actually DID make a couple of good calls. That's what's so ironic about this video for me. This is cinema gold, right here.
Two things... 1. The title of this video would be a great name for a band or an album. 2. Hopefully, the coaches had this clown removed from the league...permanently.
@@fossmoke9289 Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and it was a medical condition or some other legitimate problem that cause such strange actions, he is still in no condition to be in that position and other adults should have stepped in to investigate the issue.
The umpire is definitely impaired. No question about it. There is nothing in the video to indicate what caused the impairment, however. He may well have been drunk, but I can also think of some medical conditions that exhibit similar symptoms. Whatever the cause, the safety of the umpire, the young players, and everyone else on the field was jeopardized. This game should never have started, if the plate umpire arrived in this condition. Sober, mature, responsible adults (coaches and parents) would have refused to put their players/children on the field with an impaired official. They would also have checked to see if the umpire required medical attention, a ride home to sleep it off, or if law enforcement needed to be called (say, if he was drunk and drove to the diamond). Whatever you may think about the umpire, every other adult that was present also acted irresponsibly.
lol lol I know I was being an idiot when I made that comparison. I get a little ahead of myself sometimes and type before I think. I appreciate your opinion.
Ball 5...you're ouuuutttt! (Tony the tiger voice) Do not pass home..do not collect $200.. go directly to jail..great touchdown pass on that 3 point shot on that Par 5 572 yard goalie in the net at Daytona super speedway! 😆
brings back great memories. i was 11 or 12 and in the exact same scenario as the catcher in this vid. drunk ump but the difference was the ump in the game that i remember was surly and ejected the the first base coach that started heckling him for being drunk and unable to see balls and strikes. banished my coach to his car so my coach sat in his car with the window down yelling all the same insults. coach was just as likely to have been day drinking.
i was the same age and the ump had a low blood sugar or something so he started acting all weird and then collapsed right behind me. Everyone treated me like i had just watched someone die but the guy ended up being fine.
That’s fucking great ! I’m 52 , and when I played we had a guy Named Art Hall that was a ledge down umpire and a wicked athlete in the 30s and 40s He would call a ball when it was down the middle and a strike when it was no where near a strike. It was hilarious. We just accepted it back in the day. Somehow it always equaled out. No one ever even mentioned anything till years later. Ledge down. Dudes hammered!
There is such a shortage of umpires that a lot of places don't really have a choice who shows up. A lot of new potential umps join, but they only last 1 season, because the parents and some of the coaches are horrible.
This is unfortunate for the shortage of refs. I feel we need the refs to help regulate all of sports. Without the refs players would eventually result to cheating and fights would break out more from having no authority. At some point we may have to declare a state of emergency.
You’re argument means nothing in this case Short handed or not NEVER allow an intoxicated player coach or official on the field I umpired little league and hs for many years a game can always be made up if need be but we never allowed this I umpired in a lil town y’all may have heard of And the same home town as a new yankee I watched many good young men come thru my fields and it’s why this should never be tolerated there’s at least one star in each league give those kids a chance for good experiences at the diamond not this crap Parents and coaches should also be held accountable any of them could have stopped this game but failed
shortage of umpires..not where I live. I was shocked when I heard how much umpires and referees make calling youth league games now. But then again, I wouldn't want to do that job. Too damn emotional parents to have to deal with.
I like how the opposing teams families are sitting together. Shows sportsmanship. Anybody who's been that drunk would know how to put on a mask. No matter how drunk. I'm calling bs.
Had an issue like this at one of my sons game. I swore he was blackout drunk but the truth was he was diabetic and his sugar was high or low. He acted just like this ump and i felt bad for him because people were saying some pretty ugly comments until they found out what the problem was.
I think this is a drunk Bejing Biden like the man said up above. A diabetic would say something and gtfo. He wouldn't be swaying like hunter past 2pm on a weekday.
This guy moves intoxicated yes, but it has this patient sluggishness. Like somone running out of air. Hes not belligerent and stumbling off his feet. He cant track but tries, and he looks weak. Like his grip and coordination is focused on something else not inhibited.
