I am russian . I worked on this crab boats JUNO and SEA PRODUCER , ( ALL Alaskan seafood , Seattle ) 5 contracts in russian Okhotsk sea ....in a mid 90-s years ......It was a very good years ...Thank you America ! I fulltime remember yours goodness .... Salute from Vladivostok !!!
@@altqq1755 I enjoyed family time over seafood in a nice restaurant with king crab caught off of the Cornelia Marie (or was it the Time Bandit? I don't remember but it was one ship featured on the show that caught for the restaurant). So my family enjoyed it but I can't speak for every family I guess 😂
I remember watching Jake as a greenhorn and I felt connected to him then, it’s really heartwarming to see him do so well, it gives me hope I can as well, stay safe out there Captain!!!!
@@henrygriffen40 A beast? At the beginning he was very humble, but now all he does is argue and cause confusion, he doesn't have problem solving skills. I admire his advancement from a green horn to boat owner however, I hope in the future he does much better and get a steady regular crew.
Are you crazy??!!!! The guy is completely unstable!! Shouting and jumping up and down like a toddler having a tantrum. Seriously, grow a brain. What is wrong with you thinking this guy has potential??!!! He’s psychologically unstable.
I’m happy to see this. I don’t watch this show often but it seems like Jake is always having something go wrong in every episode, through no fault of his own. Happy to see him happy.
RIP Todd. When Wild Bill says "He was a good hand," that's a real compliment. You can tell by the way he attacks this ice, and offers to burn everyone's breakfast XD
At the start of Season 14 he was a complete rookie Captain, that still relied on the senior guys like Sig and Keith for advice. Fast forward to season 17, and he's now one of the best young captains in the entire fleet. Plus Mandy is already proving better at forming alliances than Sig, and has benefited from them when they have struggled to find King crab
@@jeffglidewell102just because you fall off and overdose doesn't change the fact he had a really bad habit and did kick it for years...then whatever demons he had came back and took his life. Yet if it makes you feel good to put a dead man down that's ok. I'd probably look deep inside yourself to find the reason you chose to pick my comment apart to make him look bad. that's petty and ugly. he was a awsome guy who had a really deadly problem and still made a huge impact in alot of peoples lives.
@@larrybushey9207 I'm sure he was a great guy. Don't know though, never met him. I feel I have a right to say what I said because I had an opiate and heroin addiction for about 12 years. Once you're addicted to opiates...you never "kick the habit". It changes you and stays with you forever. When you start thinking you've "beat this demon", that's when shit goes wrong. Today I'm 3 years clean, and own a house with my fiancee and 2 month old son. I never kicked my habit, I simply put a leash on my demons but im well aware of their existence, still.
You don't want to be roaming around the Opie grounds and have a load of pots with 30 tons of ice in them. Ice sinks boats get rid of it or you will end up like Ocean Challenger, Big Valley and Destination all went down because they have ice on the deck.
You work for the MAIB? Or are you just spouting what you've seen on here? Their pots iced up making them top heavy and unable to recover from being pitched then rolled.
I've grafted all my workin life, moving engine blocks from place to place from a young age, molten liquid factory work, huge industrial machinery to now a commercial absiler. I abseil and climb sky scrapers all day every , use up to 400m's of rope we let doen and pull up 3/4 times a day , every day. I woupd love to try this graft, even now but i don't think i could do it. I love these guys , followed them for 17yrs .
I remember second contract in Okhotsk sea near ilend Ptichiy ( Birds ilend ) ....F\V JUNO , 9 guis crew ...40 days fishing -------550 tons red king krab !!!! 24 hours -- 55 tons ! tanks on JUNO was only 55 tons ...It was a very good time !!!!! august 1995 ....
I love watching these things and fishing has always interested me but ever since hearing what happened to that guy harrison I don't think I could ever board a boat 😳 plus I'm allergic to some fish lmao I'm not sure if it's all seafood tho
Ice on a boat is no joke. Makes her very unstable and even more topheavy than she already is. Boat could flip over before you even realize you're in trouble. Ice is what killed Destination and Scandies Rose. Having it on the deck is just as bad as having water in the hull, both will kill you very fast unless you stay one step ahead of it and prevent it from getting too bad.
Agreed but it is a tough job and everyone needs their coping and I remember one of the captains says most of these captains don’t reach the age of 60 because of bad habits while being a captain because it is so stressful
