I really hope he will be able to experience the love and acceptance from the fan base that he should have been given all along.

I can see Hayden just giving Jake a hug if they met. He seems like that kind of guy.

I met Jake at Celebration V in 2010. It was my first ever fan convention, and I had been obsessed with Star Wars for years. I met several other celebs, Carrie Fisher, Jeremy Bulloch, and Peter Mayhew (RIP to all), and my last celeb was between Kenny Baker (RIP) or Jake Lloyd. It had to be Jake as TPM is my favorite SW movie. I came up to his table, dressed as Princess Leia (lol), with a picture for him to sign and very nervously told him that he was my hero growing up. As he was signing, he looked up at me and smiled and said, "Wow, thank you so much." He was so sincere. After he signed my picture, I got bold and asked for a photo together, which he graciously obliged. I thanked him once again for being so kind to take a photo with me. He was nothing but sweet to me. As I walked away from his table, I looked down at the photo he signed. Just underneath his signature he had written, "Are you an angel?" It made my heart swell, and I couldn't stop smiling. To this day, as I watch that scene in TPM where Anakin asks Padme that same question, I can't help but smile and reminisce on that sweet moment I had when meeting him. I hope Jake knows how loved by the fans he truly is. We all want to see you live your very best life and heal in the ways you need to. If Jake or someone that knows him sees this, please know that we love you, Jake. You were THE hero to so many of us. Take care ❤ UPDATE: I have been wanting to find my signed photo from Jake, and truth be told, I hadn't seen it in years because of how often I've moved these past 10+ years. It's been stored in a box, and I just found it! So I misremebered exactly how it was signed. He actually wrote out my name first on top, underneath that is "Are you an angel?", and under that is his signature. Which makes this all the more heartwarming that he didn't just hurriedly sign his name, but he actually took the time to listen to my geeky ramblings, ask for my name, and took his time in writing what he did. Again, I will say, he was an absolute sweetheart to me, and seeing this photo again is giving me all the feels! Happy Star Wars Day 2024!

Always made me sick how people bullied him. Awful people. I really hope Jake gets better and I hope he sees how much we all love him.

It's so sadly ironic that the actor would suffer just as much, if not more, than the fictional character he played as. I'm glad he's doing better now.

I met Jake in 2008 at MegaCon in Orlando. Great kid. His line wasn't too crazy so we got to chat for a few minutes. I recall he asked me questions about being a first gen SW fan and what it was like seeing the original trilogy in cinemas. Told him that he had that gift that some actors have where when they're smiling they have an angelic look about them, but when those brows furrow and those eyes glare, it's darker than the pits of hell. He made the perfect child Vader. He liked that. Funny moment at our photo op, there was an X in duct tape on the floor where you were supposed to stand next to the celebrity. I didn't see it and I was about a foot away from it. Jake looked at me, smiled and said (angelically), "Peter..." (and then the brows furrowed and he bellowed) "HIT YOUR MARK!" Everyone started laughing, and I made an obscene hand gesture at him and said, "Oh, force THIS, kid!" Jake cracked up. In our photo, we both look like we're holding back laughing, and WE ARE. That was such a fun day, and I hope he sees this and remembers that. Wishing him and his mom all the best.

Shame on whoever bullied him. He was a literal kid simply playing a FICTIONAL character.

Jake Lloyd could play a Jedi Master, he looks the part!

One of my favorite lines from the Phantom Menace that always makes me tear up when I hear it is: "Mom, you've always said the biggest problem in this Universe is that nobady helps each other.'' - Anakin Skywalker. That just shows the innocence of Anakin and that he really wants to help make the Universe a better place. Star Wars wouldn't be the same without Jake Lloyd. I'm glad to hear he's doing better.

Not gonna lie this made me emotional. As a 3 year old kid I watched Phantom Menace repeatedly and Jake Loyd was a massive part of my childhood. I hope he recovers and can live a normal life it’s sad to see what happened to him but I believe in him

Schizophrenia, a horrible mental disease, is a very difficult to treat, with misdiagnosis, trial and error of potent medications ( one size doesn't fit all) with many adverse affects, also leading to compliance issues. Sadly, the disease can be inherited. The poor guy has gone through so, so, so much. His loving mother sounds like an amazing saint. Living with someone with such a debilitating disease is so difficult, requires much patience yet interspersed with feelings of helplessness. Jake did a great job of portraying a young innocent, positive Anakin and whenever I see Vader, I still see that young boy, which is tragic. It warms my heart that he loves Star Wars. Hugs to him

I have absolutely loved Jake in everything he has appeared in, but none more than The Phantom Menace. My entire generation was the same age as him when that movie released and we grew up with him as our young Anakin. Those who have hated him and driven him to depression should be ashamed of themselves. Jake is a good guy and my heart is with him. If youre reading this Jake, I love you and you are in my prayers.

I was 5 when the ‘Phantom Menace’ released, so I loved it and the prequel trilogy has a lot of meaning to me. I didn’t know about all that was going on with Jake until later on. It’s sickening that so many people were so cruel to someone that was a literal child. As someone who suffers from severe chronic illness, including some mental health issues, my heart goes out to him and I’m so happy to hear he’s doing well.

Thank you for bringing this to light. I just met Hayden at Awesome Con in DC, he was there with Rosario. He's very introverted but he appreciates all the love everyone has for him he loves his fans. He stayed at the con with Rosario well past 10pm to do autographs. The con closed at 7! I hope Jake gets better so he can see the love we all have for him.

Jake helped make two of my favorite childhood films and I’m very thankful. I have nothing but respect for him.

I really hope Jake and his mom see this video. I'm the same age as you guys, just turned 34 yesterday. So I'm also someone that grew up on Jake's portrayal of Anakin. I always thought he did a fantastic job for being so young. Never knew he got such hate for it for so long until a number of years ago. Never understood it and it breaks my heart that he's suffered the way he has. I can relate to him in some ways with that level of depression. Really hope the best for him!

We have not forgotten Jake. My first Starwars movie was Phantom Menace and i loved it, mostly cuz of Jake's performance as a kid who wanted to goto the stars.

I was a kid when Star Wars Episode 1 came out. I loved it and rewatched it countless times then and I still watch it all the time now. I have always loved Jake Lloyd’s role in the film. I wish him the best and am thankful for his part in Star Wars.

Jake’s performance as anakin is what made darth Vader even scarier. This innocent boy who loves helping people somehow became the most feared man in the galaxy. He nailed it as did Hayden, as a 23 year old now I watch Hayden and i can see why he was such an amazing complex character with so many layers. Fuck the media they ruin everything

I met him at a Star Wars Celebration weekends in Florida in the early 2000's. And he was very gracious and open. I got a few autographs.

As someone who has a schizophrenic mom and brother I relate to his mom. It breaks your heart to seem them so different.

25 years later after i saw it at the cinema Episode 1 is still my favorite Star wars movie! Jake is a big part of that.

Thank you! I've been saying this for years now. He wasn't "bullied by fans" as is the narrative when calling the fandom "toxic" because of the sequels backlash. He was bullied at school, but not online, and anyone claiming that doesn't remember how little the internet was part of our lives in that time.

I remember reading a kids magazine back in the year 2000 and Jake Llyod answered questions about being chosen to play Anikan Skywalker and what it was like being in such a big movie, never knew the hate for his character was so bad.

When I was young kid in high school I added Jake on Facebook (this was his authentic account) & strangely enough he accepted. I messaged Jake one day basically geeking out as this naive, immature kid that was also dealing with severe anxiety, depression, OCD & autism. Jake sent a few voice notes just being super kind & generous. He’s a really laid back, cool guy that has had a rough time & I would love nothing more then for him to get well & lead a happy life. Also for us fans to fully love & embrace him like we did Hayden whether he makes appearances down the road or not.

This really breaks my heart. May his heart be full of joy during his journey

I see a lot of Jake Lloyd in myself. Bad things have happened to me in my life & I'm still struggling. It's not the same as what he has but I've had a rough go for the last 10+ years.

I didn't like the role written for him, but I never blamed the kid. Same with Ahmed. So sad.

Plz don't blame this on his brain. He was abused so badly he had to disassociate to survive. This is not his fault in anyway. It's not fair.

My heart truly goes out to Jake and his family so many things and such a terrible loss anybody would be struggling in those shoes
