Jim is a man who is giving back to a industry he loves dearly. He wants it to succeed and grow. He doesn’t hold back and he entertains so many with his brilliant podcasts.
A typical cornette podcast goes like this 1) moan about AEW 2) moan about Republicans 3) moan about AEW some more 4) moan about Republicans 5) reminisce about 'The Business' I'm a republican and an AEW mark and I still love his podcast :D
The thing with Jimmy is everyone thinks he hates wrestling now but he doesn’t. He wants it to succeed and he knows the formula that will produce that success. He doesn’t “hate” AEW. He wants AEW to get their shit together. A company on network/cable TV should not be averaging 800k viewers with the star power they possess. Corny gets mad because the have all these opportunities to capitalize on things but they always fail to except on Punk really. He always provides helpful critiques on wrestlers and if he sees something in you (like Darby, Wardlow, Hobbs, Starks, Guevara, Kingston at one time, and various others) he gladly explains better ways for them to be used but everyone just seems him irrelevant. They ignore him. But honestly, his ideas that he randomly spits off the top of his head are better than 90% of what Tony or Vince is booking today.
Corny is the Einstein of professional wrestling! The guys knowledge on the history of wrestling is endless. I could listen to Jim forever his podcast is awesome.
I watch cornette for his talks about everything up until the mid 2000's. I prefer to skip over his pissing matches with AEW, or the WWE or shaking his fist at the US political scene.
With what he did in Smoky Mountain, at least he didn't owe anybody money unlike Paul. E. But to me his greatest achievement was OVW. He gave WWE 4 bonefide main eventers: Lesnar, Orton, Batista and Cena.
His ability to maintain his audience who seems to at the very least disagree with most of his political takes is a credit to his take on wrestling. The day I agree with anyone on everything is the day I never want to live to see. I'm completely fine with him being a bed shitter on most political stuff
8 out of 10 times someone has a problem with Cornette it stems from Jim Saying their style of wrestling is the shits. Cornette is right about wrestling 10 out of 10 times.
He honestly seems super chill, always singing and laughing on his pod. He’s a happier guy than a lot of others of his era, that’s why I still listen to him, even when he’s roasting somebody his shits funny and upbeat. Put him in a room with some old timers and he’s grinning like a little kid. He just seems like he’s got rock solid lines you don’t cross, and if you do he despises you for life and there’s no winning him back.
If ya don't bring up Kenny the Bucks Hangman Moxley Jim Herd Santino Jericho Kevin Dunn Johnny Ace Republicans or Shitstain he's actually a pretty nice guy
Jim Cornette swears Memphis and Mid south were realistic when is just enough to look at one punch and figure out what everyone with a brain has already. He is passionate about wrestling, but he is completely out of his mind when he claims his time was better or more realistic overall. The biggest difference is that a hillbilly could be a world champion in those days.
Try not to take it personally. I just let it roll off me. His wrestling takes are generally spot on & worth putting up with his completely wrong takes on most things political
can't be a genius at everything, ret rded political views, genius at everything wrestling. There was a time not so long ago where people with different political opinions could converse without hating each other. Some people are just thin skinned and want you silenced, cancelled and euthanized for disagreeing
@@VicRattleHead28 I'm English and don't like either of your political parties. They're both right wing economically and a detriment to everyone else in the world. The only reason I'd prefer the democrats to win is that they are actually willing to listen to scientists and they're not as culty with the Christianity.
if u could get Jim & Paul to book a show it would be perect. Jim could make sure not only makes sense in the ring he could make sure the build off is there for a payoff. Paul has enough vison to see beyond what Jim can in some ways & explain to Jim in a way he could get it & wrap his brain around it. It wont happen cause A Jim dont want the travel & B he just cant trust Paul on the running of the biz or being honest w/ talent cause he dosent trust Paul. Im telling you though if there was a way to make it happen it would be the best wrestling since late 90`s
AEW should hire Cornette, no joke. Give him a 6 months contract with monetary bonuses that come if he doesn't stir shit up backstage lol. Imagine Jim Cornette entering a AEW ring and shitting on the fanbase. CM Punk comes back and when fans think he's going to beat the shit out of him, Punk says "You're right about everything you said". Then you have massive heat and a future stable comprised of disgruntled AEW wrestlers and ex-WWE guys. Something to rival the nWo in terms of impact. A guy can dream lol.
And then his stable would have to work a program with the trampoline wrestlers who never sell and have zero psychology. Thus cornette would throw a tantrum and quit .
@@darensparks No actually that would be the thing! They wouldn't comply sometimes, would no-sell and people would wonder if it's a shoot or not lol. If both sides would be 100% professionals they could do something really cool. Too bad TK isn't enough of a leader to make them work together ( last I heard they are making a whole separate show so the pro-Elite and pro-Bucks don't interact, which is dumb AF ).
@@TheFlamingPike Well I hope they cancel the Friday show if their getting a two hour Saturday show. Tony Khan's booking is inept at best and he won't accept help so at least eliminate one of those dumpster fire programs he puts out.
They need to split shows.. Grownups on one show and the clowns on the other. I wonder who would win the ratings.. Punk, MJF, FTR running 1 side with Jimmy booking. Twinkletoes, Hardlys, Mox run the other with Tony booking.
@@kenterminateddq5311 Brought Lucha Libre and Japanese Strong Style to America, innovated Cruiserweight wrestling in North America, revolutionized wrestling programming for TV, created the more reality based wrestling style of storylines, introduced the heel boss concept, heel referee concept etc but go on...
@@kenterminateddq5311 Except for the fact all those cruiserweights already worked for Bischoff before they spent a few months in the bingo halls doing shows for 50 fans.... Better luck on regurgitating revisionist bullshit next time.
Now if only you can the lost kids on that roster to listen to you and jim, we might have a party. But nope, they think doing 23 spanish fly's a match will make them a draw. Bulls**t.
All of Cornette's sycophantic, 40 year old breastfed virgin fans will let him know about it and they'll be drooling in their mother's basement at the thought of Cornette's response on his podcast
Corny said that he would have fired Shawn Michaels and Triple H for the Curtain Call (Michaels was the WWF champion). He said that Triple H would never become the World champion. He tried to push the Rock n Roll Express in the WWF in 1998. On his Kayfabe Commentaries Guest Booker he planned to have the Undertaker face Terry Funk at Wrestlemania in 2002! He's not the genius that you make him out to be.
Cornette's biggest problem is just that he wasn't born 40-50 years earlier than he was. I get what he wants, but that ship has sailed. One thing he's absolutely correct about is that MMA is better pro-wrestling than pro-wrestling, and it's been that way since at least the late 90's.
His podcasts Used to be good until he transformed them into vessels to viciously attack AEW and its wrestlers with and made those podcast so downright boring.
Can someone start a go fund me for Jake? He needs a webcam desperately! Not sure if the smoke is from 923 cigarettes going, the end of a fireworks display or land fog off the coast of Maine
Doubt he cares, old timers look at this stuff as convenient and not much else, he spent most of his life without such accessories so he's probably overly satisfied just with the fact easily obtained webcams exist.
I've worked with Jim and he never misses a detail, incredible mind. Also very funny. Like Heenan he could have been a great comedian in a different life. I had dinner with Jim twice and both times my ribs were hurting and it wasn't from the fish.
I don't agree with everything Jim Cornette says either but I will say he's good for wrestling and his ideas are mostly good. When he went to the WWF in 1994 he really helped make the product better no doubt
Corny picked a helluva bad time to start a territory . I was hopeful for Smokey Mountain Wrestling . But the entire industry was in decline at that time due to Over Exposure . Wrestling’s hot flavor of the month period was up and a great many of the newer fans moved into that days new thing as all trendy carpetbaggers do .
yeah cornett's passion is hard to match ... the guy was around whjen kayfabe was on fire but technology, buddy mansfield, the kliq, cable tv, john stossel, the end of the territories killed kayfabe
Is jake smoking weed now? He looks so stoned! For the record, I don't think it's impossible to be in recovery and also smoke weed. You have to have a really good program to do that tho, I don't think it's something that everyone in recovery should do.
