J J Orlinski had taken the baroque music world by storm. Can he single-handedly reinvent the countertenor voice? Email: bangkokvoicecoach@gmail.com #jakubjozeforlinski #baroque #handel #vocalcoach #reactionvideo #notredame #opera
95% of comments express delight with Jakub's voice on the tubes he performs. In my opinion, he is the most masculine sounding countertenor who can fantastically connect with the audience. The audience loves him for the simplicity, purity of voice and the modesty and sincerity of his art. His good looks only add to the perfect image he presents on stage. Listening to his art is a pure pleasure and I never get tired of it. PS. If someone is jealous of his looks, there are his beautiful CD recordings on youtube too. Then, no need to look at him😅
Orlinski is the singer who has dared to challenge the fossilised approach to Baroque music which caused so much disinterest amongst young generations. He opened up the gate encouraging so many young people to familiarise with what used to be considered "the music for the narrow circle of experts". His singing style is different but very appealing. His personality is fantastic, open to the audience with his genuine modesty and approachability. His voice sounds unusual, much closer to what young generations consider digestible while remaining stylish too. He has done a lot for Baroque music to stay alive. Thank you William for taking interest in this fantastic artist on your channel.
I like a lot countertenors voices, and Orlinsky is one of my favorites. And since when is it bad to be attractive? I think some people are destructive, they go against everything. And I'm with you that we need young, talented people like Orlinsky in music.
There’s a lot of jealousy out there!! Orlinski is great. 10 millions views on YT of an obscure aria by Vivaldi!! He has opened up a whole new audience. 🎶❤️
Don't look at the bad comments, he has an incredible voice, more than good looks, and the aria is so beautiful. Jakub is just fantastic. We were very proud in France to have Philippe Jaroussky who made it worldwide, but with Jakub: a star is born
I agree with your assessment. He is an incredible star. I have traveled to see him twice. His voice is even more magnificent in person. I believe he is part a new breed of classical singers who will revolutionize the art form.
Dear Man - While considerably "older" (in years) than J.J. Orlinsky, I - too - am tackling this "Largo" in Voice Studies. A Baritone, I relish going-up-to Falsetto-range & nailing Pitch & Tone. This funny, gregarious & Generous Vocalist "gives me Permission" - ev'ry-time that I see/hear him. He is a Great Promoter. You, too !
P.S. I live in Chicago & am-in my Third Semester of Voice Studies. My Professor at Harper College is a Professional Opera-Singer from Lyric Opera of Chicago. One (funny) observation of his - that you Also made: "Open your Eyes." 👀 ["What do you see when they are closed? Dreams?] What I was "seeing" was Nothing. So - now - I open my eyes, consciously. I do-believe that it brings-me more into "the Moment" - where every good Vocalist should-be Singing. (At-least- This one.)
My husband and I have been listening to contra tenors for probably 20 years or so and have been to contra tenor performances of very well known contra tenors. I think Orlinski is truly exceptional in the way he uses his voice, his interpretation, and his body to draw the listener into the beauty of the music and of the contra tenor voice.
It’s different isn’t it? What is it exactly? Somehow it doesn’t sound falsetto. And somehow he connects this usually disconnected voice to his personality. His sincerity is captivating.
This is one of the most sublime pieces of music ever written, a truly divine piece of music that we should be proud of because it glorifies the humanistic values that any society needs to survive and is capable of lifting the spirit from darkness to heights. The music of Handel and Bach has these qualities and power. Thank you for such great comments about Jozef Orlinski's amazing performance. I also totally agree with you and support your point that we need more support and more marketing efforts to get young people interested in this music again because the last thing we want is for this divine music to disappear or simply become a manuscript in the museum.
"Ombra mai fu" aka Handel's "Largo"(In the instrumental version) was actually the very first piece of music broadcast on public radio -in the early 1900's when a Canadian called Fessenden started broadcasting publicly. The event occurred in the U.S. however, not Canada. Handel actually based his version on an earlier piece by rival composer Bononcini who actually based his even earlier version by Cavalli. So three layers of musical history.
Thank you for highlighting this performance. I was an adult before I ever heard this aria sung. For me, it was a piano piece. Your background knowledge and technical knowledge add a lot to my understanding and also stimulate me to find out more. I appreciate the time and trouble you take.
Thank you William! I do like to listen to him, and you explained very well how important it is to have some stars in the classical field. And who would mind a pretty person 😉?
As I'm sure anyone who meets someone well known knows, all too often they aren't as good or interesting in real life. But, again, as anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Jakub will agree, he is every bit as warm, friendly and charming as he appears.
Personally I have always preferred baritones, but he undoubtedly has a great voice and with his help those of us who do not understand him appreciate him better.

I very like Orliński's singing, but in some records Jaroussky sounds better. Also I like Andreas Scholl and Fagioli. They are different singers but all are very good.
