It's becoming increasingly likely that the Detroit Pistons will be making a legitimate trade that'll require moving on from Jaden Ivey or Jalen Duren. If this is the case, which player would you move on from?

They were still in tank mode for the lottery with Killian so he had time to grow. Now we have tanked and are supposed to have a competent roster and we are not there. It is a big difference unless you want to keep going for lottery picks for years to come.

@@cordelldemattei5446 We do not have a healthy team, so tbh we are still in the same position 4yr ago as we are now. Our core consist of 4 players that have been injury prone most of their career. The only one that been healthy has been IVEY that play with over 20+ different line up. You can not build a team on players that are not healthy. Team consistency and chemistry will be effected. Also CADE has to grow more as a Leader if he our Star/Franchise Player. I rarely see him demanding things out of the other players. He not getting them involved enough in the offense, and he isn't a clutch player. People have to start looking at this and see if he is also part of the problem. But i still say keep him and see if he develop into this in next 2yrs, same as i say keep the young talent to see if they can get fully healthy and develop into good players.

@@cordelldemattei5446 I do not agree that we tanked, i feel we have been bad for 4yrs and are still bad now. No matter how you look at it this team is not winning in next 1-2yrs. You can not draft player in top 12 see them make All Rookie teams, then after a year dump those players for trade assets. IT makes no sense. I get if you are trading for a FRANCHISE superstar, but why do it now. When we do not even have a healthy set of players. Fan have to realize that the pistons right now are the only organization in NBA history that are building a full rebuild around an injury prone player. Most other organization never got rid of entire roster, then built a team around a top pick while he was injured. They waited a few years saw he was healthy then start making trades to fit around him. This organization until we see CADE is fully healthy if he our main Franchise Guy need to wait to rebuild around him. Also piston fans are loyal and have been for over 50+yrs even while the team was losing. We want lose fans if they are losing, because it been done before.

Hayes had zero trade value. Ivey brings back a quality vet. When actively trying to lose 60 games why not gift minutes to a young player with good defense and elite passing skills. That Hayes never became a scorer is a bummer but his contract didn't hurt the team.

We have no choice but to try and hit in the draft and run the squad back out and hope our young guys develop and our rookie can contribute. If it doesn’t happen this year everyone needs to be fired and we have to start from scratch again unfortunately. Cade will be an all star caliber player but he’s not a generational talent. The teams we will be trading with probably prefer picks to young players as well. It also seem weird to me to make a big trade to move from league worse team to a just missing playoffs team. It seems like it would be better to hold assets and add a few good free agency players than waste assets to still miss playoffs. Honestly I was leaning towards Ivey, but now I'm thinking Duren. For one, I have a feeling regardless of what the Pistons do (unless we somehow land a superstar), we won't make the playoffs anyway, and I'm higher on Ivey's upside and we could probably keep him after his contract ends for cheap. Two, I like the idea of trading Duren to a rebuilding team for a stretch center to optimize Cade's and Ausar's game. And finally, I believe Ivey has a coaching issue rather than a skill issue. I believe if the Pistons had a Mark Daingault, a Taylor Jenkins or a Rick Carlisle, coaches that get every bit of productivity out of their players, Ivey would have developed to be the clear 2nd option for the Pistons. What's messed up about this is that I think both players will end up all-nba players one day. I can see Jalen Duren being something like Bam Adebayo (who I would absolutely love to have on the Pistons), and I can see Jaden Ivey being a bigger, stronger Ja Morant, who you can give the ball to for a quarter and he just gets to the rim whenever he feels like it. But Cade is the absolute priority and it's time to get a roster together that will win him games.

Ku, Ivey or Duren completely depends on so many factors it can’t be determined as a stand alone question. If Monty comes back it has to be Ivey; the two of them just can not coexist. What is being returned in the trade? Also, I think that you overvalue the things Duren does well. Almost every big we played when he’s been out has done the same, including Wiseman once he realized you have to stop moving to set a screen. About any 7’ could replace Duren’s skill and he doesn’t yet have the most important one for a big man, interior defense. But, there are just too many variables to the equation to say which they should move off.

I think Ivey is way closer to be good at his primary job (scoring) than Duren is at his (interior defense), it doesn't matter how good he's on offense cause he'll give up all of that and plus on the opposite end of the floor. And I'm not even saying I think Ivey is gonna be an all-star any time soon, I just prefer to have a bad and streaky scorer than a bad defensive center on court. It hurts your team less

That’s an incredible amount of talent right there. They are gone from the playoffs. Or imagine having Lebron and AD and barely making the playoffs. It’s not a “big three” league anymore. Teams like Detroit must draft well and they must find role players that fit an identity. Monty and Troy have failed in developing our youngsters, cratered their confidence and tanked their value. Slightly overpaying for Harris and Bridges would at least give us the ability to help take pressure off of Cade, provide depth, and make it easier for our young guys to develop…. Sorry Ku but I 100% disagree with your Tobias take. We don't have draft picks or any young asset's outside of Cade that could get us multiple 1st rd picks. All signing Tobias is going to do is stunt the growth of Stewart, Ausar, Fonte, Grimes and anyone else playing the 3 or 4. If Tobias is going to make us a 30 win team then that doesn't make sense. It's better to lose more and give the young talent a chance to start playing at a level where if we trade them we can regain assets. That won't happen if Tobias is eating up 30-35mins. I get our existing core doesn't work long term. But we need Duren, Ivey, Stew, Ausar or Grimes to play to a level that when we trade them we can actually get assets. We can't rebuild this roster without draft picks to trade and make moves. That should be priority #1. IF we can get an all star caliber player who's relatively young then sure go for it. But realistically we aren't going to be able to trade for one because we don't have picks or young talent that is highly desirable for that kind of player outside of Cade. Let's use the cap space to take on bad contracts and actually get 1st rd picks for it. That's what we should use the cap for. And then also add inexpensive B & C level players that fit so our young talent looks better on the floor to increase their trade value so we actually have options.
