The Fab Five revolutionized basketball, there weren't *ANY* teams playing all freshman back then let alone long shorts and black socks and shoes, even the Jordan Bulls copied them in the mid 90s with the black socks and shoes. They made it cool to bring the streets to the court
@Keepdapocket

Not true. Who brought street to the NCAA was Houston and phi slams jamma, then UNLV, then Fab Five

@Keepdapocket
@Keepdapocket 4 года назад
@@btmusicman5589 dont need to read it again. You said, and I quote, "they made it cool to bring the streets to the court". They DID NOT do that. That belongs to Houston as many pundits criticized their "playground"play for their propensity to dunk and high five. Then UNLV with the brash, I'm your face style of trash talk and the gold teeth, high tops with parts, and gold chains. So, no Fab five didn't start that. They also didn't copy Jordan. Jordan started wearing baggy and longer shorts because he wore his UNC shorts underneath. UNLV had baggier shorts as well, as I know this because in 1989, my junior year, we specifically asked our coach for baggy short like UNLV. In which he said the minute we lose a game we go back to the original. Also, Jalen SPEXIFICALLY said on the documentary they wanted baggy shorts likeJordan's, but longer. You're only argument that is valid is popularity. That is only because white kids thought it was cool. In the hood, I saw more Georgetown then Michigan. Fab five wasn't any more popular in the hoods than georgetown. They started five freshman and came with the bald heads. That's it. Hell I saw more homies rocking Arkansas and their 40 minutes of hell more than Michigan gear, even though it was well after the fab five.
@btmusicman5589
@btmusicman5589 4 года назад
@@Keepdapocket They *ABSOLUTELY* did make it cool, I was a 13 yr old teenager in Detroit in 91 and it wasn't just "white kids" who were in love with the Fab Five, and I'm not saying UNLV didn't begin to bring the streets style to college basketball but the Fab Five took it to another level and made it a revolution Also, where did I ever say that they copied Jordan? What I said was that Jordan and the mid 90s Bulls copied THEM which is factual as they were the 1st NBA team to wear black socks with black shoes which the Fab Five started so you need to read it again.... I grew up in Detroit in the early 90s right around the corner from where Chris Webber's mother taught in middle school and I can assure you that we who were in "the hood" were definitely copying everything they were doing. When we see a "Arkansas" 30 for 30 on ESPN talking about how they changed the game then come talk to me bruh but most people can't name a single player off of that team
@Keepdapocket
@Keepdapocket 4 года назад
@@btmusicman5589 youngins, I'm talking to you now. We are talking about basketball. So what in the hell did Gab fab sue to change basketball, not the image??? They started five freshman, the shaved their heads (well, actually only 3 did), and they wore black socks. What? Because they were brash? Nope, done well before them. What, baggy shorts? Nope, done before them. I'll give you they made shorts longer, but as I said, we tried copying UNLV with longer shorts. That was 1988 homie. Slet me.help you out. They didn't change basketball. They had proper Marketing, just like Jordan, Bo, Andre Agassi had proper marketing. Jordan didn't do anything that David thompson or dr J did flying in the air, but get his ass whooped by my Detroit pistons. Bo didn't do anything. He wasn't the best in baseball by a long shot, and he wasn't the best in football. Andre Agassi didnt do anything stefan Edberg and Boris Becker couldn't do, but why was he getting top dollar. ,That marketing was called NIKE Cannon. They changed the business of college basketball, they didn't change basketball. They won nothing. Those are just examples That's like saying Iverson change basketball in the NBA. Did he? Crossover is Zeke Thomas and Tim Hathaway. Being little? Again, Zeke Thomas, JohnLucas, tiny Archibald to name a few. Nah, be didnt change basketball, he changed the image. There is a difference. Hell, if you want to get technical, I know it's just a taste before your time, 5he shaved head started happening in the hood when singer Aaron Hall shave his for the "dont be afraid" join. Before that. Mr. Graham of the 83-84 Hoyas. So, yeah, fab five changed the image of college basketball, but they didnt change no type of basketball in any way.
