Until now I had only heard about the name Jamaica coming from the Tanio (Arawak) people. They called it Xaymaca meaning the land of wood and water, that would predate what you say. Not to dispute Ghanas links to Jamaica just curious where exactly the truth lies...nice this is being discussed though!
Look trust me the Akans especially the Asanti are people who fabricate lies the least chance they get. I will not be surprised this is a new fomulated story knowing that people were brought from Ghana they fabricated that story to fit the link. They may have said this to a few Jamaicans and because of the link some Jamaica ave believed the fabricated story. The people are crafty. Beware. We are sharing a nation with them and we know who they are. I am sure when they meet you, they tell Ghana belongs to them too. Dont trust them, they are liars. Very crafty. They go as far as saying they founded Jamaica. I am sure there were others Africans who were brought earlier before the Akan group were brought later but they claim they founded Jamaica. Beware of the liars.
