You are one of the few Jamaican YTers I've seen put the full recipe in the description box. Makes it so much easier and your food looks good. I will definitely be trying more of your recipes.
I was looking for a dairy free pumpkin pudding recipe but couldn't find a good one. I tried this recipe with pumpkin instead of sweet potato. It was delicious. Thanks so much for the recipe.
I made this yesterday and I’m sure it will be gone by tonight 😂 the flavor is perfect, ginger and all the spices are just right! My first time baking pudding and I can’t wait to make it again and again. Thanks for sharing!!
Update! I’ve made about 5 puddings since this and now people are asking me to sell them 😄😄😄 definitely gotten better and if you’re reading this I suggest grating over blending. Flavor is the same either way but the texture from grating is much better!
My family has been trying to make sweet potato pudding for about 6 years now we fail at every recipe we try its normally too soft. However this turned out perfectly I loved it thank you so much ❤
Thank you for this recipe, and for your amazing channel. Tried this recipe this week and it was lovely 😊. Very tasty, great consistency. Would recommend!
Great recipe, it tastes wonderful ❤ but the middle of mine is not firm, its very soft, almost mushy. Now did I use to much custard on top or should I have baked it longer and did the clean knife test?
Hi, I love sweet potatoe pudding. I followed your receipe and made it this weekend and mines came out so soft, I don’t know what I did because I followed it to the T, any ideas?
I've used your cornmeal pudding recipe several times and it came out delicious each time! 😊. Will be trying this next. What size baking tin are you using?
I have been making Sweet Potato pudding for my husband for years! It always seems to be too soft, I follow your recipe exact...only difference is I use 1tbsp Appleton rum....do you know what I am doing wrong? Loved the video!
You might want to add a bit more of the flour or cornmeal to bind to pudding. Don’t add too much where it overpowers the pudding. When you say soft do you mean porridge like and you’re unable to cut a slice? Pudding should not be too hard it should be firm enough to cut a slice. Ofcourse it depends on the pudding however, in this case and most other Jamaican pudding, it should be firm to cut a slice and soft when you bite in.
@@AuthenticPlantbasedEats The consistency is firm enough to cut, but soft enough that its like a firm mashed potato....LOL sounds bad....I have made this I swear 50 times, so I have to do doing something wrong. I have played with flour and cornmeal, even thought about adding an egg....but that would just ruin it!!!
Oh ok then that’s fine. For the most part that’s how it is. It will not be like a cake consistency hence the name pudding. If you’re not a fan of the soft consistency I would suggest adding more cornmeal to get a course texture, and yes the egg would probably ruin it.
Candyz1111 Try adding less liquid and sugar(I’ve realized that too much sugar makes the pudding soft). You can also place it in the refrigerator to get it a little firmer. Pro tip: Try enjoying it with a slice of cheese 🧀 😁 Do tell me how it turned out next time👍🏽
Honestly I’m not quite sure, it might work. The flour and cornmeal helps to bind the pudding. The oats flour can have the same effect so it’s definitely worth a try. Try it and let me know.
That all-purpose white flour is not good for our health so I'm going to substitute it with quinoa flour or something of that nature can we use almond or cashew does it have to be coconut milk
Great recipe & technique, but I would like to suggest something to everyone: best health is necessary, even with desserts. Spend the extra money for NON-IRRADIATED SPICES. Most spices & herbs have been irradiated, a process that conventional companies use to allegedly destroy insects, bacteria & so-called harmful substances in the preprocessing phase. Not only does that process destroy the essence of the spices, but it radiates them, making them CARCINOGENIC (cancerous). Avoid them and like products as much as possible. Also: NON-STICK (teflon, “copper” or “diamond” coating, etc), Aluminum and like metals are poisonous, leaching and letting metals. The manufacturers & distributors know this, because they own and invest in the CHEMICALS, INSURANCE, PHARMACEUTICAL, HEALTHCARE & MILITARY industries that are killing us with cancers & a plethora of other ailments. Where there is a GENERAL, there’s a WAR & EVERY COUNTRY has a SURGEON GENERAL and he/she is NOT FIGHTING FOR US, but against us. Sorry for the caps, but need to stress that like them when they CAPITALIZE OUR NAMES.
In general sweet potato pudding as well as other Jamaican puddings is Plantbased. Some add butter which might not be "Plantbased". But over all this is a great recipe and it tased amazing.
I do not remember in Jamaica we add corn meal to potato pudding. It's either corn meal pudding plain or potato plain without corn meal....this recipe is potato corn meal pudding.
