Taking me back to my youth when I used to travel with my Ras Bredren from Baltimore to DC delivering reggae albums from DC to Baltimore record shops. Those were the days. I never saw any violence at all. I was blessed.
I lived through this era in the city and now it makes me very mad because I realise how they were jumping out and illegally searching brown men specifically when the drug problem has never had a race. I also realise that having a record brings its own form of discrimination which can drive people further into poverty, recidivism, and mental health issues. The following statement is not meant to be racist but more of an observation. Everytime this city has an influx of white residents and gentrification; it wreaks havoc on the pre-existing communities of color. You would think it would bring more jobs and opportunities but more than anything; you start seeing the news start being more racially prolific and the crimes start going up. And you start seeing white drug addicts in weird parts of the city. If they searched white people in the manner that they do us; the narrative would change. They know this. I've seen reports. We should never take out our own. Especially over some paper and chemicals. The gunplay kills opportunities, families, and shows others we have no respect for ourselves or what our ancestors went through so we could be here today. Niccas jumping off cliffs just because they have a gun. How are dudes reppin for hoods and killing dudes in their hood? You can't make it make sense.
I'm relocating to DC from Indiana so I'm doing my homework in depth on the DMV. Besides, research on jobs, cost of living, overall economy, I'm doing my homework on the streets as well. I lived in Baltimore and Virginia for a short time when i was a kid but that was in the late 80's early 90's. Great content
@@reggiebell1611 seems like DC been off the hook, but upon my research DC is too expensive for me. Now, I’m looking more at PG County, MD which the crime seem pretty bad there. Now I’m Indianapolis and not a day goes by someone is killed. It’s everywhere but I know how to move in these streets up here. I haven’t lived on the East Coast since the late 80’s and moved to northern Indiana in 1991. I’m still moving no matter what.
