My brother was murdered in around Kingman Park (honestly, I've always considered it part of Rosedale) on his 19th birthday in November 1993. My mom's house was on the 500 Block of 25th PL. N.E. Whenever I visit that area, I would sit at a stop light and sit for 2 light cycles before finally driving off, shedding a quick tear while thinking of my brother. R.I.P. Danny.
My brother died around 21st and Vietnam in 1996, his name is scoop 5/20/1996 his funeral was on my birthday 5/31 .I'm from 3rd 🌎 43yrs. Did 14yrs Fed all over the B.O.P . DC is like the early '90s now. I'm in Houston tx, been here for 8yr since I been out. Really don't go back that often, because so many of these youngest is losing their life

Not glorifying or nothing but I watch videos like this from that era and hearing people talking about how "bad" it is now I just shake my head like Really🤔 Compared to THIS type madness🙄 Listen! And again not glorifying, but America from the late 70's up to the mid 90's was on an ENTIRELY different level of savagery in its urban areas! Not only in DC but EVERYWHERE! I'm not even from DC! But it was the same struggle up here in the NYC area! Boston! Philly! Newark! I mean it was even popping off in little areas like Long Island! Westchester County! Ct! And smaller cities like Patterson, Jersey City and Camden NJ! Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers NY! and Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury and Hartford CT! And this is just in the area I came up in the Northeast! We not even including Chicago! Cleveland! Detroit! LA, Miami, St Louis, Memphis and Houston and Dallas areas! My point...yeah..its bad! And we need to do something! But feeling like there is no hope! Nah! Not even! Because if we can overcome what it was at these times nothing is impossible! And I am not just talking! I came up in the street during these times! I know what I am talking about! RIP to ALL those who fell during this area! It's almost incomprehensible when I look back at those times! We literally lost almost an entire 4 generations across the nation! That's crazy....😢
Crazy I use to live around the area and E St was probably one of or the dangers streets in the city back then in the early 90s. I use to lived in Azeeze-Bates Apartments
My family moved on Hst in 1937, I was born in 73. We have pics when Hechinger Mall was a grass hill plus other streets. Late 80's to late 90's shots were heard at any time of day any day from the 3 neighborhoods around Hechinger Mall. It could be where you were hanging at or around the corner or on the other sides but it was rare you went more than 2 days without hearing shots somewhere. It takes a lot of shootings to get to the point where ppl wait to hear an ambulance before they go see what happened.

Can you do a video on Fairmont and Valley Green? My folks tell me bout they old hoods and some wild things they saw as kids/teens but don’t go too in depth with it. I think they still traumatized from the stuff they seen.
