Some people might understandably not be big country fans but Rhett is harkening back to country’s blues era; it’s a genre used to tell personal stories in a relatable manner. one keyword from his deconstruction for me was: ecumenical… When I first became a believer, i remember that spark of feeling that universal, unconditional love for someone, for the world, for all of reality… it was almost childlike, and so special. The word ecumenical reminded me of the hefty layers of “veil” (reminded me of old testament separation of man with God, at least how i was taught) that seem to separate us from something larger than any system (or body of churches…) mankind can create… time for a replay

same. i was raised in a very similar church setting as him and link, and i had begun to struggle a few years back, but always found a way to justify and sef identify my self as "christian" because thats who i "was". as in that was my whole identity, but when i started to question the religion, my entire foundation came under fire, who was i if not a christian, and i think thats kind of the point of it, it has to shape itself early as your whole world or else you might realize that its stolen your independence. but thats the appeal of religion, it gives you an out when that nagging existential dread tries to settle in, a clean blanket answer to all of life's mystery's. it took the deconstruction of faith videos to finally put into words what i was feeling, that i was finally ok having questions that couldn't be answered in my life; in fact it even preferable than having an answer that couldn't be questioned. i wish i just knew how empty i was going to feel when it first happened.

Not gonna lie this took me 2 listens a whole day apart to really take it in. And at first I wasn't a fan but the second time I listened there was a storm outside and my headphones were in. And this song took me somewhere very emotional, I was worried the production would be overdone. And as many apprehensions I brought and expectations and hopes countering them. This is FIRE. I really feel the emotion and love that as a single from the album it gives you a large range of vocals. Falsetto and those country staple low growls. But at the end of the day you're not asking me to agree, you just need me to belive, and I'm whole heartily awaiting the full album.

At first I thought the idea of Rhett doing a country album sounded kitschy but Rhett is really capturing what makes great country music or just great songwriting in general. He's being introspective and vulnerable and true to himself and it's most definitely not kitsch. Some people try to write songs that everyone can relate to and they make them generic and then no one really connects with it. Rhett is showing us here that to really connect with someone you have to write *from the bone" as a creative writing teacher I once had told me. The more personal you are when you're writing the deeper you're able to connect with the audience. Wonderful song and lyrics. Also the melody and guitar in the verses reminds me of a song from my teenage years that I loved by some temple pilots called "and so I know"

Separating yourself from what you’ve learned and always believed to be true and coming to terms with the fact that you no longer believe them and see things differently is not easy and can be a long process especially when those around who do still believe can’t or won’t accept your evolving beliefs and feel you are betraying them. @@ExtremeWeatherGroup it's really, really not. Learn what the definitions of words are. You do offend literally billions of people by calling their way of life a cult because you disagree with it. The underlying foundation of the entire Christian belief is that it's a choice you're making. A cult doesn't allow choice or freedom. Certain sects and certain groups of people can be considered cults, but those are the outliers. And the majority of the time, they're not even Christians. They call themselves such, but then have a "prophet" or figurehead that goes against Christianity for their own gain. Normal, everyday Christians aren't in a cult. They aren't forced to stay anywhere, aren't forced to believe or do anything. It's a way of life that is your choice, and that choice is the underlying foundation of the belief. You take that away to become a cult, you can't call yourself Christianity.

@ExtremeWeatherGroup
@ExtremeWeatherGroup 2 года назад
@@higglybiggly1174 it primarily looks like a cult because for vast majority of Christians and catholics there is somewhat forced beliefs. If you are gay and a Christian in most churches (because that's directly what it says in the bible) you have committed sin. Thus you are no longer welcomed to go to heaven (which ultimately is the main goal for Christians). Not to mention all the pick and choose in different Christianity "groups". Some of them follow the bible exactly who usually end up racist, homophobic, or limited to how they live their life. Next you have the people who decide they don't want to be homophobic, great! Now they aren't aligning to the bible. Lastly the people who are using Christianity as a stereotypical cult tool. Like when a leader convinced 900 people to commit suicide to go to heaven. You probably like to believe they did go to heaven because it sounds nicer. But according to the bible suicide is a sin so what is it?

The "When I say I didn't leave 'cause I was hurt, but there goes my pride, with this refrain that I be seen as justified" really spoke to me personally. A lot of times, when I tell people I used to be Christian but not anymore they expect me to have some story about how the church hurt me, or that a priest did something to me. For me, nothing bad happened, no one hurt me, I just slowly lost faith with time and after a lot of research into the religion, I no longer believe. For whatever reason people seem to have a hard time believing that I just lost faith, they want there to be some traumatic reason for me leaving, and because there is not one they then believe they have a duty to try and bring me back to the church.
