Just beautiful. I knew Rhett was a great songwriter, but it's glorious to see the depth and breadth of his talent on display. Can't wait for the album! -John
This! Believe Me was very good but I think I felt that way because I knew the backstory from following Rhett & Link's deconstruction etc. This song is truly beautiful and something I'd have liked with or without the GMM fandom.
I’ve always said it. If they wanted to Rhett and Link could have made it in the music industry. Rhett’s new tunes are proof that their talents go beyond comedy.
I've always loved how much Rhett (and Link) adore their wives, and how they support each other in every way and take joy in each other. I feel like this video and this song really highlight that.
I mean.. anyone who doesn't love their significant others like these guys do aren't doing it right. My wife is the most wonderful, beautiful important thing in the entire world to me.💜
Knowing yours and Jessie’s story, “a few hours on a wooden bench, that’s all it took to do me in.” Thirty seconds in and you already got me shedding a tear. This is fantastic.
Might have to be my wedding song 🥲 Started my relationship 9 years ago as teens watching GMM. Now engaged (still watching GMM) and then you hit us with this beautiful song. Thankyou Rhett
"More than a savior, we needed help." Damn, this line hits me right in the evangelical upbringing. It hurts, but it's so good to be reminded that I'm not alone.
I really hope it resonates with you. the main reason I decided to go through with this and turn these songs into an album is people like you. Thanks for listening.
@@jamesandtheshame thank you for sharing. i may be a person of faith but, as far as i can tell anyhow, life is about empathizing with other people and projects like this open me and other folks up to other perspectives we’d never be able to explore otherwise. it takes courage to create art, especially something this personal but it’s making a positive impact.
My wedding is coming up in October and I would love for this to be ours. The only issue is the bit about moving to the devil’s town and the part about laying down the crosses. I’m cool with it, but I know my partner wouldn’t be unfortunately.
Crying so much right now!! My hubs & I were raised evangelical but have since deconstructed for a much better marriage, a life full of love, and two people just figuring it out as we go. Thank you thank you thank you for putting these complexities into a song. This is going on my love songs playlist :)
Almost immediately started crying watching this and had to send it to my partner.... We're both from Fayetteville NC and both understand exactly what it's like to grow up together in the south. We've been on our journey for 11 years and while we've ended up in many crazy places, as long as we're in it together I know everything will work out.
I thought you could sing just from your speaking voice. You both blew me away. I wish my husband could have listen to this. He enjoyed your shows online so much. At 60 years old he developed aggressive cancer and after 3.5 weeks after finding out he passed away. I watch Rhett and Link not cause of my husband but because I get a kick out of you both and the crew. Well, to be honest I feel connected to my husband through you both. Brings good memories and smiles. I just miss him.
Just a stranger passing through the comments. So sorry for your loss. May you find many more memories of your husband and wells of joy as the future unfolds. Much love ❤️
I’m literally in tears seeing you two and your children while listening to this beautiful song. My wife and I are due with our first child in less than a week and we love watching GMM together. Your views on the things and the way you talk about and describe your family is a huge motivator for my wife and I to attempt to build a family different than the ones we were born into. I can’t wait to make sure she hears this when she gets home from work.
“So much we were warned about, ended up being pretty good” if this line doesn’t get put up on every billboard in the southeast Bible Belt. Rhett I love this song, I’m glad ur wife joined you, this is absolutely beautiful and made me cry. Also question, was some of the footage of you holding one of ur boys part of the baby dedication they do in churches, that’s really like important and bold to put in, and glad u did it. SO PROUD, AND it’s so AMAZING!
@RonRoss yeah I think they know that especially if they’re hardcore fans but I have no way knowing that for sure lol. But I still feel it’s still impactful even though they’re not religious anymore because it’s showing where they’ve been and how much their lives have changed and that even though they still can’t predict the future they want to do it together.
“As long as you’re there, that’s where I wanna be..” I can just hear this being played at so many weddings in the future. Love is so beautiful, and this song portrays it so perfectly❤️
Rhett makes incredible music. I wish everyone would quit saying "i dont like country but i like this" stop closing yourself off! You like country! Its just a different type than you are used to hearing. Look up tyler childers, willi carlile, sturgill simpson. Come on guys, you cant say you dont like country and then act like this is the only country that exists like this! Anyways i love this stuff im glad to hear rhett make such heartfelt and emotionally saturated music.
Exactly! Every genre of music is connected. Wouldn’t have country without rap…wouldn’t have rap without classical. It’s all intertwined together💜love your comment
@@heathermarriette5415 They're offshoots of blues, independent of one another, not affected and completely dissimilar. We would absolutely be able to have one without the other. lol
The world needs more agnostic country music. It's a beautiful sound that has become bastardised by nationalism and religion. Keep the music coming. I love this.
Damn you're actually so right, i remember loving country music as a kid but then when I grew up and started understanding that it was just "beer, truck, i love my submissive housewife, church, god, merica'" I stopped listening
Had no idea Jessie had such a beautiful voice 💗 this was so precious, you can see how much love was put into it. And the fact that Lily helped produce! So special, congrats to everyone involved
Love the whole lyrics. This one stands out: "Moved west to the devil's town/losing old and makin' new friends/finally put our crosses down/watch those two boys start to turn to men." Great music video. Nice to see Barbara in it too.
i literally never listen to country, and i’m realizing it might be because of it’s usual political and religious connections because this song has been on repeat for me all week, both of you are incredible! what a phenomenal song, hope to hear more in the future! 😊
@@LifeLongMETALHead83 and do you think they have like, substance to their music? cause that’s another thing i have noticed about radio country, it doesn’t have that much depth - in my humble opinion.
Beautiful song. Its different from a generic love song, there is heart and meaning behind it. It's for the love of your life and its so beautiful to hear.
Holy crud! I thought, "that looks like the guy from Good Mythical Morning." Clicked and confirmed... and then was BLOWN AWAY by the song and the performance. At the risk of stating the obvious: he can REALLY sing!!! This is exceptional, not because it's "that guy from GMM," but because it's a genuinely great listen. He's been holding out on us! 🙂
Obviously you haven’t seen any recent episodes of GMM? They’ve been talking about him putting music out..this is his 2nd song. The first one was Believe Me…enjoy!
@@ShinoaburameX3333 WAs about to say. They started out writing jingles for comercials and the like, and have done tons of sketch-type things with songs.
He and Link each have a long standing musical and writing career. They may not have released songs like this, but made commercials and more comedic pieces like "Rap Battles of Manliness"," Nillawaffer Tophat", and even in their RU-vid Red Original series, "Buddy System", just to name a few. If you haven't checked them out, you're living under a rock :)
Rhett, I cannot thank you enough for bringing this song to life. It speaks to me and my husbands relationship. Both grew up in the church with only one view of the world. Slowly and individually we both started questioning. Don’t know where we’re going when we die, but if I have him that’s enough for me.
At first I was thinking this was a generic love song and I thought I wonder what his wife thinks about him singing this song with that lady. Then I realized that's his wife, that's sweet. And then I realized the lyrics are talking about how they met as evangelicals and throughout their marriage they've moved beyond that together. And I actually got kinda teary eyed. That's a good love song.
This song gets even better when you think of how cute it must have been for them to sit together to practice all those times before they recorded this. Their love for each other shows!
If I wasn’t already married this would 100% be our wedding song omg I’m sobbing!! The music video makes it that much better, I love the chemistry and the lyrics are beautiful. As a mother of two married to her high school sweetheart I related so much to this song my god, I can’t say this enough. Rhett and Jessie did an amazing job, I’m so excited for the album!!
I shed a tear, this is so beautiful Rhett. I love how much your songs have shown so much vulnerability from within you. It is so gosh dang beautiful. And y’all’s relationship through that footage, so so lovely. 💝
This song is just… it just came out of left field… always seeing Rhett as a silly, tall goof on GMM and hits us with this…amazing song and wow, what an absolute talent. Love it!
Rhett, I am 67 years old and I hope that before I die someone will look at me the way you look at Jessie. Man, I cried and smiled through this whole song.
"Caring less and less about the destination" is such a wonderful way to describe a separation from faith. It's hard to tell people how much better it feels to accept that you just don't know and are along for the ride with the people who you love.
@@yankis. 100%. But remember an ethic is unprovable as well, we just hold it because it works well. Faith doesn't equal a magical man reading everyone's minds, but faith does allow for a held ethic that you use to guide your life and specifically to give you an ideal to strive for. I'd argue that everyone has that. Even the scientific view does, as a scientist accepts the fact that what they know isn't fact. That's by definition unprovable, but it's followed because it works so goddamn well. That same paradigm finds itself everywhere, and can be seen explicitly in ethical analysis. So at the end of the day, we're all doing the same thing. The Christians just put a concrete magical man in the sky up there just because it makes the ethic more concrete or tangible, especially when the magical man is a man
@@JonahNelson7 A lot of Christianity also holds the punishment of eternal damnation over the head of members if its ethics aren't followed. I was raised Catholic and think no child should be led to believe that if they don't confess to a priest that they disrespected their parents in some miniscule way and atone for this sin by praying that their chances of burning forever just went up. Doing things like not hurting other people because it "works" seems an oversimplification of just not doing horrible things because you can recognize they're horrible. Fear doesn't play into my reasoning, nor do I need a written code of ethics.
“Caring less and less about the destination”. That..is true love. When you can set out on an adventure with someone and commit to a vacation or a trip in general and just the trip with that person is the best part.. you’re in love.

What a beautiful song. You’re really killing it Rhett. you have a beautiful life. I hope to have the same level of happiness with my soon to be wife, whom I am marrying in october!
As someone also going through a deconstruction from Catholicism, the line "Finally put our crosses down" hits me really hard. Followed by the sweetest line about their sons, tears automatically start to form in my eyes. I don't even have children of my own, it's just really sweet and beautiful. I'm one of those not so much into country music, but I genuinely cannot wait for the whole album to drop. Proud of you, Rhett.
This isn’t usually my style of music, but now after two songs, I’m super into this. It’s a more modern country folk and I love it. Super excited for the album.
Choking back tears! This is so beautiful and you can see the love between Rhett and his wife. Makes me think I’m with exactly who I’m suppose to be with❤️ Might need this song at my wedding someday
As someone who wasn't raised in a very religious household, been atheist since I was 16, and is very single; this song still hit me pretty deep and had me crying within the first 30 seconds of it. Its a beautiful song, Rhett. You both sound fantastic and I'm glad you two had each other through your religious deconstructions. I can't wait to hear the rest of this album.
It sounds like you've got empathy and emotional intelligence. It also helps that Rhett wrote a good, heartfelt song. Those old videos and genuine smiles between them get you too. You feel that love.
It isn't a bad thing to have a set of morals and feel a greater good watching over you. They are only spiteful because of the religion type and people they were around. Stop considering religion as joining a cult and make it your own. God isn't the enemy, it's people who misinterpret or force their idea of what god should be onto others. Otherwise you can join the California cult of depression, anxiety, and lack of direction.
@@ajcf6gze38jvf Rhett mentioned that his religious deconstruction is a huge part of the album. I bet you just get offended instead of bothering to learn about the context of things.

I never post on RU-vid, I've been watching gmm for 7 years now and I have always known you had extreme musical talent. My mother and I lost my father last year and country music has gotten us through a lot since then. I listen to death metal mainly, but as far as my country music knowledge goes, this is up there with the greats. Dolly, Johnny, and the rest.
This isn't my own story, although it's simply wonderful, but I can't help thinking of my husband when I hear the refrain "I don't know where we're going, but I know I want you to go with me. Don't know much about the destination; as long as you're there, that's where I want to be." I can still say that after 45 years, although time is growing short in our old age. ♥️
Oh My God. This is SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I'M LEGIT CRYING!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 I LOVE THAT IT'S A DUET, WITH JESSIE!!! 💖💖💖 LOVE that it tells your story!!! 💖😭😭😭😭😭 THE HOME VIDEOS. 😭😭😭 LOVE the lyric change in the end! 🎶 As long as you're there, that's where I wanna be. 🎶 -> 🎶 As long as you're there, that's where I'm gonna be. 🎶
Not me sobbing on my morning commute over a couple on the internet that don't know i exist 😭 I've been a mythical beast for 11 years, now. And I can not express how happy it makes me to see Jessie there with him. Their voices are so beautiful. and their story, as told by the images and video in this MV have expressed, is equally as such. thank you. I'm so very proud of you ❤
That’s what I said!!! I’ve laughed until I cried but I never thought he would strike this nerve in me…. Crying many tears! Rhett we love you!!!! And Jessie too!! So glad to see her coming in on the album!
Yes..Never realized this was within the scope of his personality, lol. So very sentimental and sweet, I wish him luck and hope his music career goes far 🙂
Jessie sounds like Carrie Underwood and I am so hoping we hear more from her in the future if this musical persona takes off for Rhett (which, honestly, I hope we see you at the CMA's next year bud!!!) This is so candid and beautifully done 💕
Altought I came here from GMM and automatically clicked "like", A couple days ago I was listening to my RU-vid supermix play list, and I'm like "Wow, this is a nice song, lets open the app and see who is the singer" and I was surprised(and happy!) that it was Rhett. So I love the song, and not because of Rhett, or GMM, but just because it is a fun listen. Now It is on repeat.
this had me tearing up. i seriously LOVED "believe me" and this song is just as good. incredibly proud of you rhett and so very excited to hear the rest of the album
Oh how lovely. I couldn’t help but have the biggest smile on my face the entire 4 minutes. Such a beautiful way to celebrate Rhett and Jessie’s love story - harmonising gorgeously with some highlights of their journey so far.
Wow, this actually made me break down in tears. As someone who also grew up as a christian, and have since left the faith and felt kind of lost, this really resonated with me. "Finally put down our crosses" that hit me really hard. Great work as always, Rhett!
Hey just asking, I thought Rhett wasn't Christian anymore? I remember watching one of their ear biscuit videos about their spiritual deconstruction or something.
This makes me so emotional. I'm not a country music person but I really love this song. The message definitely gets through and I love how this video was put together. Often times music videos have nothing to do with the song and don't really add to the experience but this one did! 💞 Great job!
This made me tear up! Especially when you sang about watching your two boys turn into men. You've both come so far and grown so much and stuck together through it all. True love!
Seriously I don't even like country music at all..not even a little bit..BUT..you have literally been part of our familys daily routine for well over 10 years and I know when my husband says will you please listen to the song I just finished hes getting out what's inside therefore showing something I wouldn't normally get to see...Because I feel like you're my little brother in a strange way I listened....All I can say is I think you're incredible and I could listen to you sing the phone book 😁 I also want to say I'm proud of you..I'm a stranger I know but it takes guts to give a part of yourself to the world and let us fans see a different side of Rett..Thanks 😊❤ Much love to you and your family and of course to Mr. Neil for the smiles and laughter every day and for just being Rett and Link from the Hendricks bunch ❤
I have never felt lonelier 🥲 On a more serious note, y’all are adorable. Loved seeing you two through the years. This was the perfect music video - simple yet effective and brought me to tears. Can’t wait to stream it nonstop!
Not much of a country man, especially American country (not from America :D), but honestly this is great! Reminds me of those "old-timey" folk songs but in a really good way.
This moved me to a few tears. Their love and connection is so genuine you can hear it and feel it in these lyrics, the video was such a beautiful bonus. Can’t wait to see and hear what comes next!
I'm only a minute in and someone tell me why I'm literally crying 😭 Rhett!!! This is absolutely beautiful. And I'm so glad you get to sing this song with your wife. I'm thinking of playing this song at my future wedding. All the love to you 💖❤🧡💛
