I'm personally not a huge country fan, at least not modern country, but everything I've ever heard from James and the Shame has been killer. I don't know why it doesn't get radio play, why it's not everywhere.
Probably because it doesn't pull numbers the same way other radio country does. A lot of it probably has to do with marketing, and Rhett doesn't market James and the Shame. It's a side project.
Part of it probably has to do with the subject matter as well. Most country is about god, country, backroads and trucks. He sings about leaving god behind most of the time. The typical “country listener” wouldn’t be into that I’m sure.
@@ok9176 I listen to fair bit but I will admit I mainly listen to rap/hiphop and very heavy metal. Like metal and deathcore, etc. I’m only generalizing radio country music. Oliver Anthony and people like him are not who I’m referring to.
I used to listen to a lot of country, folk, and bluegrass because of my PawPaw. He loved sharing music with me. Its become harder as I got older. Theres a bit of a stigma around the genre. Plenty of unsavory people in the space. I'm happy theres someone I know is a good hearted person, singing about relatable struggles and singing from their heart.
Rhett, as a disabled musician and hopeless romantic, this song is so amazing. Music is my passion, I'm a mix engineer, guitarist and producer. Thanks to you and all the things you do over at Mythical, that's why I'm still alive. This is fantastic music, you touch so many people so thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Just happened to being watching GMM and, lo and behold, I found country music that I like! Thanks, Rhett. I've been playing you a lot on my amazon music!
This really hits somewhere deep, knowing you wrote this for someone you love whole heartedly, I love how vulnerable you are with your music Rhett and it really means a lot to many people listening. Love this song and the message it conveys. I’m not sure if you know just how many people you impact with your music but I am definitely one of them💗I have always loved your show and your music has hit a deeper cord with me and many others. Love what you do, keep doing it
I thought this wasnt due to come out until Friday 😮, i absolutely love this man, can't wait for him to release the album. I feel lucky to have lived in the same time as this man ❤❤❤❤❤
Stunning setting! the sunlight on your face couldn't be more appropriate . Must have been there awhile waiting for that special moment. I'm hearing a bit of John Denver on this one. Beautiful song Rhett!

Long shot in the dark but was listening to Willie Nelson other night and the song night life was on and I be damned for not ask so , have you ever covered that song and if not I feel like your voice would pay some great tribute to that song. Anyways hope all is well and life is good. -be love-
People get so much approval from others on the internet for the things they do these days. Don’t get me wrong ol boy I’ll be the first one to let you know I’m a country hater and I think every song you’ve put out under James and the Shame has been honestly fantastic and emotionally touching for me personally. But my deepest, most genuine wish and hope for you Rhett is that YOU feel proud of what you’ve done with your life and with your music. That someone could respond to it negatively and that you would know with your soul that not only is that person objectively wrong, but more importantly I wish and hope that you wouldn’t care either way what one idiot had to say. You and link both deserve that truthfully. You have come a very long way. At the end of the day I just hope everyone at mythical feels happy, because you all deserve to
Love this. .. also. my brian went straight to Rhett talking about role play with his wife 😅 Just imagined him referencing a sweet game they maybe play with the lights off or something.I think it’s cool though how, like intimacy, so many things can be involved and incorporated. How being playful doesn’t make things any less lovely. Obviously I know the song has more abstracted and metaphorical meaning to it too but, maybe it can have both meanings as the same time
