Thank you for this review. I bought the Highgbury's recently and have found them comfortable (right out of the box, no need for any "breaking in"), stylish and versatile. Your reaction to the feel of the leather was spot on and mirrors my own feeling. You have affirmed my decision to purchase these shoes. Thanks again.
I ordered these from you a few months ago and totally agree with your review. For me I love black and I feel they may even be more versatile, I would wear these even with Black Tie all the way down to jeans, great range up and down the formality scale and instant modern classics
I understand what you're saying about the soles, but they're made for 007 to run/fight, etc.! Rubber city soles will make us feel like we can do all of our 007 moves without slipping and looking like double-O s--t! :)
Hehe I don’t think anyone would do those actions or really run, but hey if it makes you feel that way it’s awesome! I wore these now today in a row and my god the leather is spectacular.
Finally! Welcome to the C and J fraternity! I must say that the quality of the upper materials is what really speaks to me as well! That and the 325 last, which fits me like a glove, I have three pairs on that last!
I just got my first Crockett & Jones and it is "JAMES", the oxford in 007 limited edition. One thing immediately got my attenetion is the touch feeling about the leather. The butter soft feeling like you said! I truly love it. I have been watching couples of your video and I enjoy it. About English shoes, I haven't not seen you reviewing any John Lobb shoes. I am curious about your opinions! :)
The James is waaaay too expensive for what it is. Still a good shoe and wear it in good health! And yes their leather is lovely. As for John lobb I would never bother paying so much for machine made shoes.
I don’t like Dainite soles. They’re not good on concrete so nice to see they’re fazing them out. Had my eye on a pair of rough out suede Chelseas but didn’t buy because of the Dainites.
I got into shoes a few years ago but always bought them with Dainite soles (my shoes are mostly Allen Edmonds brand). Recently I bought a pair of brown derbies and took a chance ordering them with regular leather soles. They are SO comfortable! I can’t believe what I was missing all this time. Not going back to Dainite.
I think the best shoe for James Bond would be a balmoral Oxford boot with a dainite sole. Ankle support and traction in a shoe which could pass all the way up to black tie
I have the same pair of shoes , and they are part of my favourite shoes . They are part of my rotation and look lovely will all shades of greys and dark trousers . The only thing i don’t like is the creases. They look amazing when polished with mirror shine. I have found the best shoe trees for me are the premium ones due to size . I wear 8.5 uk and the only way to reduce creases is using the premium option , because they are covering sizes 8 and 8.5 . For size 8 i can recommend the standard shoe trees which are 631 last . I hope that will help people in case they purchase a shoes which are like in between sizes , just like me . Greetings from London 🇬🇧
Hey Bobby, the creases are normal, it’s a plain toe and leather creases anyways. But thanks for the tips for the shoe trees. Mine creased beautifully and I wore them 3 times this week. Superb leather
Since creasing is problematic, I wonder if there is too much leather between the vamp and forefoot, as this tends to be my problem from another shoemaker.
Creasing depends on the last, your foot and the leather thickness. Crust leather tends to be a little thinner. That’s why Saint crispins creases like mad. Aniline leather usually is tougher and thicker but also takes longer to break in. Bad fit can also create worse creasing.
Are they an E width? And if so are they narrow? Loake and Oliver Sweeney have F as a standard width which fit me great. And love the sharp dressed look in this video.
Hi, I wear these true to my UK size like I mentioned in the video. I can’t give recommendations based on sneakers. If you have other welted shoes just write which ones and what size and I will tell you 🙏
I’m sure I’ll appear as a Cretan but the plain black derby reminds me of a meter maid shoe. I’m sure the build is beyond reproach. I prefer the whole cut oxford
Hey Jeffrey. No you will certainly not appear like that. I have so much in my wardrobe at the moment and it’s just personal taste! Wear whatever feels best for you and matches your taste. This is a great shoe, I cannot fathom how nice the leather feels. Thank you for watching! I am a bit more of a wholecut person myself!
