Dre Vision When I was A kid in 1968 Mr. Brown mezmorized me at Flint Michigan's Whitting Auditorium and there will never be another Entertaining Artist ever in any living persons life will measure up. He was like a Earthquake that changed the shape of music and dance. He could sing and dance like nobody else but changed everybody else. He came from the woods and built mansions. My hat is off to you Mr. Brown.
He came across as 'uptight', but he was really a hip cat. He was a real connoisseur of American culture and he embraced all kinds of talent. He wanted people of all ages to be entertained. He was a brilliant newspaper columnist and he knew all about contract law. Remember, he paid all of these acts that appeared on his television show, and being on his show was very important if an act wanted to make it big in show business. If he appeared a little stiff in front of the camera, it was supposedly due to the fact that the lights in that small studio were incredibly hot----even for that era. For those of us who grew up in the 1960's, the Ed Sullivan Show was must-see TV!
Omar Torrez Yeah, James mixed so much dance moves in his move set to the point he became such a unique dancer and showman. James was so full of everything on stage, it's crazy, that's what made him stand out from the rest in my opinion.
Wow, he did not only had a great voice, but the moves to... he was far beyond for the time, he REMAINS the best bleus/funk/soul man ever lived....Peace!!!
To have seen him live was off the hook.A great talent the likes of which will never come again. I saw him at the Regal Theater as a kid and the Holliday Star,my dad’s treat to his 5 children and spouses.
I remember both my mom and dad told me back when he performed on this show … there was not a black person on street …. 1960s was the last true decade of black and pride … this performance on the Ed Sullivan Show meant a lot to black people at the time
James switched the accents from 2 and 4 to 1 in Jazz and R&B, and created his own brand of FUNK. He changed music forever. In this video he didn't even break a sweat. It was just a mike check! This band and The Flames are so tight.
Known as the Godfather of Soul, but maybe a little unnoticed as a genius when it comes to performing. If you loved his records and wanted to hear him live, he mezmorized a crowd by performing his tunes in a completely different way, style or tempo. "Pure Dynamite" accurately described him and very personable. From the early days with a complete show with 30 people, down to the 80's and 90's smaller group of maybe 12, he never shorted his audience. Without a doubt "The hardest working man in show business".
The One, The Only..."James Brown, and The Fabulous Flames!" I saw James perform at the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport. As his final song was ending, he was in a single spotlight. The entire building was in darkness. The curtains were closing as he was singing and dancing, and the single spotlight turned into a strobe light. The most incredible thing I've ever seen. The entire audience exploded in screams.
Get uppa get on up!! James was a huge part of my life! Our local 7 sounds and Black Society solidified soul into our very being. Soul was our passage along with rock, and folk.
He was so full of energy 😁I would have loved to grown up in his time,, what a performer what an artist..👏👏.. what a dancer!!!..love from Ireland 🇨🇮🇮🇪💚💚..
When I was in elementary school in Washington DC I was a Safety Patrol (you know, the kids that would direct their peers to cross the street safely). We used to get free tickets to the famous Howard Theater to see wonderful entertainers like James Brown, the Temptations, Gladys Knight and the Pips, etc. Didn't realize how blessed I was until much later in life to be able to see these greats in person.
Every single part of this is tight as fk....the band is playing there stuff at full wack...the command james has over them..just mind blowing good...no dought prob could be over working them etc..but after all is said and done ...and the sun goes down...look at the results...... just absolute class... can't touch this level these days...you can get near it ..but ya can't pull it under.. the skill of those guys ...still amazing to watch
What a masterful performance by a master of his craft. This performance illustrates the difference between a virtuoso and somebody who is just "good". His dance routines were as perfectly executed as his vocals and he didn't miss a beat, key, or step.
At the same time, there was this little kid who sat in front of the tv, studying and watching the Master at work, this little kid would be later on called, The King of Pop
Sahil Khan Literally every black musician can trace their work back to this guy. Prince, MJ, Rick James, Stevie Wonder, and so many more. James Brown probably has links to people like Chuck Berry.
+jeffbatpa24 who is worthy of it then, smartass? He was being called King of Pop back in 1984/5 by the tabloids- he only started pushing the name in '89 onwards. The media also called Elvis the king of rock and roll, and then he and his manager started pushing the name themselves. Maybe do your research before typing random dumb shit Jeff
he seized the stage and won. I'm a child of the 1980s and I personally think today not a whole lot of male singers can sing as effortlessly as James did, but they do take his moves and dance style.
there are some very talented singer/dancer performing today... but this MAN was just simply a LEGEND in his own right!!! God i love these 2min45sec... i wish i had actually been born during his peak... such a wasted opportunity!
I wish the current artists of today would incorporate more big band on stage during there concerts/performances. The Big Bands just gives the audience a whole different energy and excitement that you can't get from a dj's loud speaker! PS: I'm not talking about you Bruno M. you understand what I'm talking about! B-)
These so called artist today can't touch real talent. The thing is he had no tv radio computer or any technology to prepare him for what he could do. A gift is a gift. I wish I could sing but with a true gift. Wow no technical enhancement of the voice just pure J.B. Sanging..
IGUAL NUNCA , VAI EXISTIR ...ELE ERA O REI DO SÓUL(MUITOS IMITARAM ) MÁS NÃO CONSEGIRAM ...É O COMETA QUE PASSOU EM NOSSAS VIDAS .🎤🎤🎤🎼🎶🎵🎼🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵💕💓💞💗💖💖💗💞💕💕💓💞💗💗💕💓💞💗💖
This is assuming that today's music would even be possible without the legends... Switching time periods, you could say that a lot of today's artist wouldn't be successful in older periods. People's taste changes.
