I love James Drury. I've been watching his westerns reruns daily. The Virginian is one of the last cowboys left on the screen that portrayed a cowboy of dignity, honor, integrity. A great role model for younger boys. They dont make shows like that anymore. I'm sad that he just passed away.

Iconic, beautiful horse! He was an expert horseman. I have always wished Breyer would feature that beautiful horse. I read the horse was part Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse. IDK.

I Love The Virginian then, and I still Love it now! James Drury and Doug McClure were some of the greatest cowboys on TV, and you can tell that they really knew what they were doing! I never realized that it was an hour and a half when I was younger! I just wanted to watch them every chance I got! It's really sad to lose a friend like these men! Just found out that he passed. This was an intelligent western that also held the attention of women and girls -- something that westerns rarely do. Thank you James and Doug, for the wealth of great entertainment that you have left for us.
i literally received an autographed picture i requested from him the day he died in the mail......it looks like it was sent out to me on april 2nd and he died the 6th.....love the guy....so strange the timing
I'm from the UK,I grew up on westerns,I loved them all, James Drury in the Virginian played a good man,and in real life he was a good man, the world is a poorer place without him.R I P James.
James was perfectly cast for 'The Virginian.' I loved the episode where he was in love with the stunning Dolores Hart who promptly became a nun after filming!
Still watch 'The Virginian' today, thankful to see them , a great actor, character and a good heart, loved your introduction to some of the stories, you will be missed, hope to see you someday in Heaven!

Thank you for this interview. He was my favorite westerns actor. I just found out he passed right before his 86th birthday. Sad to learn of his passing. Great show, The Virginian! Loved that it was 90 mins long. He was a wonderful actor! ♥️🌹🌿
I loved James Drury he held up the code on and off screen. I watch the Virginian 7 days a week 6 times a day on different channels. I cried when I heard of his passing. I was watching one of the episodes when found out. I don’t care how many times I have seen an episode I will watch it again. R.I.P. Love and miss you.

Same here. BTW, last August (2019) I was traveling through Buena Vista, Colorado. The motel I stayed at had an autographed picture of Mr. Drury....as “The Virginian”.... in the lobby. I asked the owner about it. She said he had stayed there only recently and was flattered she recognized him! Oh how I wished I’d had been fortunate enough to have been there to meet him as well! One of my favorite cowboy TV actors.

America lost the very last of the Western legends.Clint Walker and today I learned of Mr Drury's passing. There is no one remaining. "A morality play" "Westerns were our Camelot"

I love James Drury any time any place, love hearing his voice, love to see him on screen pictures interviews anything. Love his talent. He is so handsome and such a gentlemen. This was a real treat to see him today.
The thing about James Drury is, even when he was a guest star on another show, that episode was a stand-out. The Marshal from The Rifleman; Freezeout from the Bronco series and so many more.

Love him in the Virginian and miss him. Yes, the show is about the triumph of good versus evi which is sadly very rare today. Now I watch the Virginian very early for me at 7AM Monday through Friday. Wish it goes back to the previous time at 11AM.
Warmest congratulations from Ireland, James. I still remember with the fondest of affection your first trip to Ireland around ten years ago with your good friend, Eamon Finnerty. You came in to do a guest spot of around half an hour on my show on Mid West Radio in Mayo .....and we ended up doing over two hours!!! So many people rang in that night to convey their special memories of what The Virginian meant to so many of us growing up in rural Ireland in one-channel TV land back then. You were our hero ....along with Trampas and all the other folk. We had a fantastic response to the show that night. They just loved you on that trip to Claremorris and the west of Ireland. Absolutely thrilled to hear you have been honoured with the Walk of Western Stars Award. A true legend, a gentleman, and such a part of our childhood memories. You will always be welcome in the Emerald Isle. High Five, James!
He was so perfect for the part. When I was young I always watched western and this was a favorite. I still watch every day while doing my computer work and enjoy the show just as much now as then. I'm so glad he was honored. I was so sad to hear of his passing. R.I.P. Virginian
I watch every episode that comes on TV. I also record those and love watching 2- 3 times or more per episodes. I am amazed at the many great actors in each and every show and simply never tire of The Virginian!

My wife and I have this tradition. We watch The Virginian every day on Satellite. (SEWS) James Drury, Doug McClure, and all the rest. The best guest stars in the business. A different drop-dead gorgeous girl guest star every day. Elizabeth was an angel. Everyone looked good on a horse, all could ride and shoot. There was good morals, and good always triumphed. I still watch westerns every day, glad they're on about 4-5 channels these days. The Virginian is one of the best right there with Gunsmoke and a few others.
James Drury, the famous Virginian! Still handsome, sexy and so gentleman! I met him on the 50th anniversary of Virginian in CA. I wish I could hug him AGAIN!!! ❤️
He was among the last of the TV western cowboys. In the 50 and 60's at any given time there was at least a dozen westerns on TV. The good guys always won and the bad guys were dispatched post haste at the end of a 6 shooter.

I really appreciate being able to see them I Wish more TV shows were put on RU-vid especially the old Westerns, here in Canada it's really hard to find the old western TV shows and able to watch them. Thank you for your devotion to the character of the Virginian, I am 72 and don't look up to too many people, but I watch you closely in your Virginian episodes, and I am very pleased to see you hold true to the character of truth and fairness as best a man can, that is what is most important to me! Just got through watching your RU-vid Q and A and was not surprised at all ... that the reason you played the Virginian so well, is because you are in truthful and a man of character, it was easy for you! I am 72 as I said, had my first son at 60, retired the same year for the National Park Service, Sequoia Park in central Cal. after marrying a Beautiful Chinese Lady, had my second son at 62 and have a step son 20 in college at Fresno State, straight A student. I bring up my boys with character abovy all else, because it is what will shape them to be good men; and it doesn't hurt they are top students too. Great man you are ... Fine interview! Yes, western shows have a lot to say to the people today. I found that by watching all these shows during the "lockdown" showed how much compassion the characters had, even though some of the rough gruff.
Congratulations! TheVirginian was weekly must see at our house. Recently I had knee replaced and was in a rehab for a time, when I walked into the gym for exercises all the TV’s had The Virginian on all the patients were glued to them! I loved you and Doug, horses, and all things Western from then on. "The Virginian" was a unique, quality western production that, in my opinion, was never matched or exceeded. Love this man! Watch all the Virginian shows, that was when our weekly tv shows were actually good! The shows now are all violence an to pc. Give me these good ol reruns anyday over the new ones! I wonder ifbhe still has horses an rides? God Bless you Mr Drury!
