Some Westerns have become a member of family in my household,watching them endlessly for decades,OVER AND OVER...The Virginian is on now as I seen he passed,turned my belly..RIP VIRGINIAN...

Drury was born in NYC (April 18, 1934 - April 6, 2020) and contracted polio as a child. He got a big boost in his acting career when he played one of the bad guys in Sam Peckinpah's "Ride the High Country" (1962) with western hero legends Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea. He got his trademark role in 'The Virginian' shortly after that film came out.
Just found out that my favorite western star has passed. Love the theme music, and James Drury's character was so cool and laid back. From a born and bred Virginian, R.I.P.
I loved this show- (James D. )The Virginian and Trampas were some of my western heroes . When the show changed its name and added Stewart G.? As a star with a longer gun barrel, it didn’t last. all of the seasons James D. Was the star , well when somebody else got the starring role the show got cancelled. Goes to show just who we wanted to see. ‘The Men From Shiloh’ didn’t last because our guy James Drury wasn’t in the starring role any more. Was it 8 seasons The Virginian was playing, with good ratings. The only western series to play 90 minutes. What a wonderful offering to the public. I sure enjoy all of them
