He received permission to take as many as 62 course credits per quarter compared to the normal limit of 19, while still continuing to act; receiving many of his credits from independent study for his involvement on the set of Spider-Man 3. It's great to see that even a famous actor gets a bit uncomfortable when his poetry is discussed. Writing poetry requires you to put yourself on the line unlike almost every other form of art and because of that it is far from easy to find the courage to show it to others.

Do people not know that our teeth are naturally off white? Of course, with age they might stain, especially if one drinks lots of coffee or wine, or doesn't take care of their teeth, but people commenting that his teeth are "yellow" are exaggerating. I have seen yellow teeth... His are not. They're just not super whitened.

How are people not aware of his more classic roles like Tristan & Isolde? Everyone only focuses on the comedies he's done. His performance in 127 hours was simply incredible. He was nominated for an Academy Award for crying out loud. If anything, I think it's amazing that he can do such notable films & still decided to do movies like Pineapple Express. It means he enjoys diversity & doesn't care what people think or about "hollywood". People that have followed his work through the years & not only the recent silly movies know he's genuinely talented.

Some of you need to realize that a talented hard working, emphasis on hard working person such as James Franco is deserving of showing and talking about his work and always new and upcoming accomplishments because he works hard to achieve them. He earns it and has accomplished immense amounts of things and VERY difficult to achieve things as well and deserves to if you may call it "boast" about them, give the guy a break because he doesn't give him self one.

Matthew Britzius Actually, I've taken poetry classes before. I agree that those classes can't produce the next poet laureate, but they can teach you the elements of poetry writing. There's a lot you have to consider when writing a poem. If you're going to use rhymes, the arrangement of lines and stanzas, the use of extended metaphors, show don't tell, etc. A poetry class doesn't guarantee you'll become a literary genius, but it can give you the tools to start. You're not interested in writing, so it's unfair to diminish the power of words. Writing is one of the hardest, most anxiety-ridden activities I know. If you've never experienced the hardships of writing, then you're in no position to say it's "pretentious garbage." A MFA isn't about the title itself. It's about improving one's craft and learning from a community of writers. And that's how you learn.

Gema Guevara Workshopping is great, and having others critique your work is massively important. I've taken creative writing classes too, and they were great. But a master's in poetry? It's almost counter intuitive. "You're not interested in writing" -- How can you make that claim? I love literature and poetry. I've just never enjoyed any of the writers and works that have come out of the academic world. They strike me as sterile, even as they try to be avant garde. I'm not saying there cannot be exceptions, I just don't place a lot of value in that system.

Matthew Britzius You're right. It was an awful claim. I apologize for assuming. And one of the pros of pursuing a MFA is that it forces you to sit down and write since you're going to be spending thousands of dollars on it. The MFA is an excuse to devote your time writing. There are plenty of successful writers who do not have advanced degrees, but in today's work force, an advanced degree boosts your chances of getting a job. Yes, a Creative Writing MFA counts, too.

Dude, they are not yellow. They are natural .. unlike those of 90+ percent of other actors. Not everyone likes that fake-ass pearly white type of shit .. nice, straight teeth with a natural color(not yellow, but not the whitest either). I think it looks good

BTW, I recently read this "Of Mice and Men" book. I came across it at one of the Moscow bookstores. It's kinda thin but very special. It's worth reading and now I guess the play is worth seeing especially with James Franco in the title role.

I think it's really motivating on how busy he is, he is ALWAYS doing something. I'm the same way, I'm 19 and have two jobs and goto school. I don't have a day off. But I like it because I'm the type of guy that has to always be doing stuff. I know he is the same way but he does things that are much more interesting than what I do, it's really motivaing.

I find him very interesting, he started as a young hot thing that was on a teen movies on the 90´s, never spected he was this smart and was going to be interested in studies and all that work behind the camera, even painting, he is still very handsome, and you can tell he pushes himself on a suit for things like this, he looks tired and he is always single with no kids, is like he doesnt have too much room for relashionships. I hope he doesnt give up completely on his looks and being an actor, because we like to watch some James Franco on movies looking good.
