Yeah, that's alright if you're playing some loose jam to a regular beat. You can mess up in lots of little ways and it's not too big a deal. You might even accidentally play something better than what you originally intended. But if you're playing in an odd time signature like with this song, if somebody misses a cue or whatever, things can fall apart really quickly.

@Skip R I disagree. Their goal has always been to create the music they want to create - they were saying this even way back when Cliff was alive. Its up to us as fans to decide if we like each new album or not. If we don't, that's fine by them. A band shouldn't be held to the constraints of what their fans want otherwise all artistic creativity is out the door. Each to their own but I think they do alright by their fans by touring all over the world and ensuring they deliver a kick-ass concert at each and every location they visit.

Shit, if Lars had not suddenly decided sometime right after the black album to completely stop practicing playing drums forever and ever, NEVER to pick up drumsticks unless he's recording or playing a gig, refusing to even tap a solid beat for a few seconds with his foot while he's riding in his private jet(idk lol), Metallica would still sound good live, and I think they'd currently be making kick-ass...ier albums, that just my opinion though.

Lars always jumps in early with the beat to the main riff after that harmony part. The other guys always go along with it. So I thought it was kind of a dick move on Lars' side to just stop playing when for once James jumped in early, instead of trying to go along with it. But I'm not a drummer. I guess it's probably not that easy resetting to 1 halfway through a 7/4 bar.

The intro for the request shows had them shout a couple of songnames and kirk (I think?) actually said "play lulu in the break" and then the other guys were looking confused

When I was younger: As a death metal fan I thought these guys were sell out's. But as I grew older and wiser: 'What? Are these guys still at it? Godamn, my lower back envies them. Sarah! (hypothetical daughter) Put that John Meyer shit off!! I'm about to show you real men/musicians.' Plays No remorse (Full volume)

@@alexquintanilla8012 yup. I actually prefer most of the studio live versions to the album version. I think James vocals shine through better and the snare obviously is easier to tolerate. Although I do like the studio version of the album as well as a piece of art or a moment in time when they did something different. It’s memorable.
