A great song by two terrific and similar sounding singers, Michael Macdonald and James Ingram. But here, James shows his greater range, more inventive and more supple voice. It's James that starts off with the high falsetto intro and the first verse, and it's James with the highest falsetto ad libs. One of my very favorite cuts from that era.
This song is pure gold. These two have performed it live together over the years and it’s magic, but this will always be the best version. Such an uplifting and great song with such powerful energy. Great reaction dude! Thinking of a few requests for you to check out! Keep the reactions coming brother! 👏👏👏
James Ingram (RIP) past away in 01/29/2019 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 superb singer writer Michael McDonald is the singing I’m a free man I love him good production great classic James does the high pitch vocals 😁❤❤❤
Michael McDonald was a member of the Doobie Brothers. When they added him to the group, they put out some of their best music. It became very soulful. Check out "it keeps you runnin" and "real love". He has an incredible voice!
Hi Jack, I just wanted to point out that when they sing Yah Mo Be There, Yah is a shorthand way of saying Yaweh. They shortened it as to not scare anyone by singing the word Yaweh. Which means, I'm certain you know Jack, but to anyone who does not know it means God in Hebrew. So the title of the song, Yah Mo Be There - means God will be there interpreted as God be with you. I was still singing I'ma be there though & some of y'all were too, lol.😊 Also Jack, Quincy Jones produced this song & co-wrote it with Michael McDonald, James Ingram & Rod Temperton.
James Ingram sang on Secret Garden with Barry White, El Debarge, AL B. Sure. Michael McDonald sang a duet with Patti Labelle. I think you reacted to it.
Excellent. Thank you Jack, and whoever it was that requested that song. I think only you and one other person on RU-vid has ever reacted to this classic song. It's always been a uplifting song to me, and it's ironic how the lyrics, mean so much more now, than they did back then, when the world wasn't so crazy as it is now. Anyway great reaction as usual Jack. God bless.
This man's music is awesome....his duets are amazing! And let me just say that I have watched so many USA for Africa reactions and no one ever knows James Ingram. I believe he also does that signature 'thing' in that song that he does in just about all his songs. If it isn't him, then someone sounds a lot like him. His voice is very distinct to me. His brother, Philip Ingram, was with Switch. They put out some great songs as well. And even though Michael McDonald had a great solo career, he was previously with at least two famous bands, The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan.
This music video takes me back to 5th Grade. The symbolism in the beach part @ the end always intrigued me. No movie, Jack. Just a high concept bc the song is deep like that. Thanks, Demetria! This song, that most Gen X and Baby Boomers know, rarely gets any reaction love in these RU-vid streets. ✌🏽
James had a great voice and was one of the nicest people you ever wanted to meet. Michael is still kickin and selling out shows. When you did your reaction to Lisa Fischer “how can I ease the pain” they were there too. It’s from a dope concert called earth voice 92. It featured James Ingram, Michael McDonald, Lisa Fischer, Breda Russell, Anita Baker, Roberta Flack, Bobby Caldwell, Maxi Priest, Lee Ritenour and many more they all sang background for each other all night and it was amazing.
