I just love when he talks about the purpose of dance music, and the comparison to food. It really resonates with me, and to hear that from LCD frontman (a band which two days ago made me panic, because I could never make such awesome music as a techno producer, and that kinda bummed me out) that he kinda had a breakthrough by just focusing on the basic: making people dance. Golden, just love this
The comment about the three albums being “the arc of a humiliating rock career” is so spot on still. Even with the new album containing so many thoughts on existentialism and uncertainty
I wholeheartedly share his outlook on life. Seems like a great guy. Looking forward to more LCD Soundsystem whenever he gets round to making it. Enjoy your garden James!
ghostly606 Oo I love it when you get sassy. Matter of fact he has ruled it out: pitchfork.com/news/50476-james-murphy-reiterates-that-an-lcd-soundsystem-reunion-isnt-happening/
Chris Matthews As much as I love LCD Soundsystem, I don't think they would have anywhere else to go if they did reunite. They put out three fucking perfect LPs, two stellar live albums and 1 great instrumental composition. They have a great legacy that doesn't really need to be expanded upon. On the bright side, James Murphy has said that he's started writing music again.
Great interview. he says he doesn't know famous people near the end, but earlier he said Adrock gave him a boombox with a keyboard built in. Adrock is famoux. +my video errored at 45:33. ha
James instantly recognized that these two grown men are among the biggest LCD nerds (fanboys). I don’t blame them considering that Sound of Silver is easily a top 5-10 album since 2000.
So I did believe based on the title that this was an interview of James Murphy regarding the topic, sound opinions. No shade, it’s something I think he’d do.
