the thing i love most about james spader is that he is such an intellectual eccentric without any affectations. he seems like such a fun non-judgemental person.
Well, then you didn’t come of age with John Hughes. His phenomenal acting was too convincing. His characters were literally out of a Bret Easton Ellis novel.
@@princesssprinklesthecat4192 lol, thats hilarious kiddo, the first episode is probably one of the worst in the entire series. maybe. the show got better and better until about season 8 or so. still better than most of the bs on tv now or at any point in time.
Every talk show appearance James makes I think,”He can’t possibly have any more stories to tell.” But there he is, a new story from his past. I don’t even care if they’re true or not. It’s such fun to watch his style of speaking and storytelling. I love that man.
@@dcool2u2 But they got to hear a great story. I guess my favorite killing was-I can’t recall titles-but it was in an early season. Raymond had tied a man to a chair and poured bourbon, or a bottle of some alcohol all over him. Then he put a lit cigar in his mouth. Raymond was sitting talking in a conversational voice, waiting for the cigar to burn long enough to drop ashes. Then he’d get to see the fire start and feel the man got what he deserved. He wasn’t feeling patient, He just stood and said,”Oh the hell with it!” and shot him. Throwing in little things like that are what makes Raymond Reddington different from anyone we’ll ever see again in TV. Thank goodness for DVDs and streaming. We can always watch the ones that are our favorites. I need to rewatch the entire first season before I jump on to others. I surely do miss him.
@@cards0486 Yeah I remember that scene. It was hilarious. One of my favorites was when he and Lizzy snuck their way into a uppity party where they were looking for the bad guy. Lizzy gets caught and was tied to a chair in a room with a guard. Red comes bursting in and acts like he's her personal butler. He says something to the guard like "You don't have to tell me sister!" I have watched that scene a bunch of times on RU-vid. I'm actually watching the series for the first time through and am on season 5. So still enjoying it. I have to be careful that I don't research anything on Google even for the simplest thing because I've run into spoilers a few times. I only see 9 seasons on Netflix. Is there actually a season 10 somewhere?
They offered him Ultron for What If and also for the video game but he turned them down. He works as little as possible, and he focuses all of his work energy he is willing to give to The Blacklist.
this interview listening to Mr. Spader made my entire wonderful day that much better...TY Seth for letting us enjoy your show with anticipation ...love & hugs
James Spader's memory reminded me of when we'd run out of a New Release title at Blockbuster, and they trained us to either push a different film of the same genre or another movie with the same star when we (inevitably) ran out of copies of tremendously popular films that they'd only sent us 7 copies of. 2 got eaten by VCRS the first week, 2 were never returned and 1 was stolen. A lot of people who came in to see Mike Nichols'(s?) "Angels in America" went home with The Graduate or Catch-22, which I don't think was what they came looking for. It's like someone coming in for "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" and your only on-shelf option is "Revolution #9 b/w "What's the New Mary Jane?" It feels morally wrong. :) Also, am I having some kind of Mandela-effect moment, or did James Spader ever have his name credited as Spaader? I can't get it out of my head that I've SEEN it, but also maybe it's just bleed-over from learning the title "Baader-Meinhof" around the same time and having a TBI in the last couple of years... It just 'feels' like I've seen it so I'm wondering if anybody else has that recollection. Also Also, The 'Some Girls' callback reference @4:21 was brilliantly understated. Also also (also) Sorry: I just relocated to Michigan, and I think I underestimated the potency of gummies this evening.
@@carlpop2324 Bwahahaha... I doubt anyone hopes I've 'saved' any for further loquacious, disjointed rantings, but your comment made me smile, so Hi. :)
If the title of this video was "Guess who spent 2 days looking for quaaludes in Mexico", we'd still know it was James Spader. I've not watched it yet, but there's a good chance it involves a Kennedy.
Or the total opposite to Spader's Record Store....the busy 2000 film "High Fidelity" Record Store. Where John Cusack worked together with Jack Black & Todd. Louiso.
I love him so much! He’s the master of storytelling! And I love the way he simply jumps from one story to another! Hahahahaha James, you are welcome to come to Celaya in Mexico!
Mexican 'ludes. I remember those days. And when they went from Rorer to Lemmon. Listening to James relate his tales is so much like when Red goes off on a tangent. I'd party with both/either.
I loved him as Steff in Pretty In Pink. I know he wasn't supposed to be likable but i thought he owned that movie! There's a small scene when he's talking to Blaine on the stairs in the school. He says "You're going to be late buddy" and points up at the late bell a second before it goes off and has this great smirk on his face. I see that and think nobody can ACT that cool and not BE that cool! 😊
He and Robert downy Jr. Started out in a movie with Kim Richards! I wish, I could remember the name of that movie now, it was in the 80s! Lord he was a handsome devil! He still looks good for his age and just as humorous as always!
Wish I had some Quaaludes right now!! Back in the seventies and eighties always kept some in my pocket because the girls really liked them, and so did I after..hehe.. now somas have taken their place if you can even find a doctor to write a script for them..😮😮😊😊
@@JB-pp1kt Yeah, not legally but you can buy it on the street, apparently it never went out of fashion there. I have a friend who ordered some online from there once.
