@@martinhealy6813 you heard him in the interview, he was new to the scene of those bikes and his 2 stroke just couldn’t keep up. that along with rickys knowledge that james didn’t have yet, of course he was gonna beat him. but straight up, fastest ever, it’s james stewart. he took risks no one else would even though it may have cost him titles and even wins. he was willing to take those chances just to win. he was the fastest to ever do it. there were times when james would literally toy with ricky while being behind him until he actually wanted to take the lead. no doubt in my mind james is the fastest to ever do it. rickys the greatest to ever do it.

It is crazy because Ricky Carmichael watched James Stewart come up as a kid under him. Carmichael was around the Stewart's a lot. You can tell that Ricky wanted and thought James was going to be next. I feel (just my personal feeling) that Ricky left a year early expecting it to be James time. You can tell by the smile on James face when talking about Ricky just how much he both respected Ricky but wanted to beat Ricky straight up. To see a racer smile that much when talking about his older competitor shows more then their words could ever say. That said you can tell James hates Chad. Even though they are older you can still see that deep in his soul that he does not like Chad Reed.

@@hernandocanencio6517 The numbers are there bro... you only talk about tittles, you forget other numbers, like races win 98, the second most after RC, sx wins, etc. JS7 has more sx wins than RC, JS has a perfect season, he has the record for best rookie season, having won 10/12 Motocross races in 2002. James has 5 FIM World Champion titles from Motocross of Nations, and World Supercross. 4 AMA Supercross Champion titles, and 3 AMA Motocross Champion titles. He won 28 times in the 31 125cc Nationals he raced, which was better than Carmichael, Mark Barnett, Steve Lamson or anyone else. @@genenorris2564 Lol James isn't the reason he retired. He retired because he was tired of the constant grind of training and racing. He was tired of beating himself up when he had nothing left to prove. He literally holds almost every record you could possibly have. So why keep racing, risking injuring yourself, when you can retire and go out on top? He easily could have won one, maybe two more championships both SX and MX. There was just no point.
@RicardoSilva-qp4bb

Yep. James was great at supercross (one of the very best ever - even better than Ricky I believe) but outdoors NO ONE had ANYTHING for Ricky. It is just how it is. Ricky had a way of stepping up to the chalenge to whoever and whatever was thrown at him. He was at the top of the game speed wise, agression wise, physically and mentally. The only outdoor motocross race I remember Stewart having a change of straight beating Ricky was Ricky´s second to last race in Redbud in 07, and even then he hadn´t broken Ricky - he was right there pressuring James. The other few wins were due to Ricky crashing while at the lead and not all of Ricky wins came at the cost of Stewart crashing (example being the blown engine James talks about in this interview, in Southwick 2006, when Carmichael was leading confortably by then.). The only guys who beat Ricky straight out outdoors in a few races were Windham and Tortelli. And any rider in history would get beaten by Carmichael 9 out of 10 times straight up outdoors. Ricky was just a machine back then at motocross. He was really the GOAT outdoors. His records will probably never be beaten.
@michaelbuckley7884
@michaelbuckley7884 4 года назад
He’s the only guy who could crash twice, get a cup of coffee and than get back on the bike and win it. Fast is an understatement. I would not want to race with him, he’d run you over. If he’s in a race the excitement level goes up ten fold. He was one of a kind, a great racer. He had to put fear in his fellow racer, he came to win and either move over or get ran over, he came to win, not play. After listening to the interview. I respect the guy. He earned everything he has, nice guy and one of the best who ever raced, he was tough, crashed a lot and suffered a lot of pain, got back up and continued to win. Easy to understand why some did not like him, he kicked their butt on the track. I would love to race against him with 250 cc, as long as he had two flat tires and primary and pilot jet on carb was clogged with dirt, and my 250 was perfect.
