James Taylor inducts Crosby, Stills and Nash into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and David Crosby, Graham Nash and Stephen Stills accept awards during the 1997 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. rockhall.com/inductees/crosby-...
I wish it could bridge the gap between Graham Nash and David Crosby once again. Love Crosby Stills Nash and Young. The music of a generation for certain!
Joni Mitchell left Graham for James so I often wondered if Graham and James speak to each other So I’m very happy to see that James is doing his induction.
They were a group that changed history not only during Woodstock and Kent State and veitnam they shook the world with there music like southern Cross . Ohio . Judy blue eyes . Teach your children. And so many more to many to mention
Such a great speech by none other than Mr.James Taylor (a virtuoso himself) on the ''installment'' as he himself said, of CSN one of the first ''Super Bands'' and one of the best Rock, Folk rock/Acoustic and Harmonies based bands that came out of the late 60's making the 70's one of their best decades. I considered myself lucky for watching them live well lots or rather several times; sometimes with Neil but most by themselves. Long may they run! Thanks for the upload. t up Gus
I had the great pleasure to crew for David on the Schooner Mayan, and met them all - I call 'em Da Boyz. They are remarkable human beings, aside from their music.
Wish Joni Mitchell would get more acknowledgment. She was a MAJOR influence to all theses men. SHE wrote Woodstock!!! This woman needs to more if her Due!
James Buckley -- CSN’s harmonies are as legendary and timeless as music itself. I have been a huge fan of the Everly brothers. They too had the most recognizable harmonic blend of anyone before them and it’s only been since CSN’s arrival that Phil and Don Everly had competition. Musical artists can only DREAM about matching the unique and haunting harmonies like CS&N. Sorry we lost the Everly Brothers and for me, I’m enjoying as much CS&N’s music as they will make.
Crosby hit the nail right on the head there!! Music is the thing that binds us, particularly CSN Music!! Love you guys! Awesome group, and all have an awesome voice!! All three of you guys ROCK!!
❤️Croz 💔humility🌹”honored”😊 “MUSIC IS MAGIC”-His 1st solo LP- Music is Love-masterpiece🎶 Thank my wife-you’re the best friend i’ve ever had- Jan- and i love you!!! Thank the 2 men standing next to me-been brothers to me-love them dearly!!!
Great speeches. Fantastic musicians. First concert I ever went to (The Band opened) saw them over a dozen times. I'm just sort of sad that nobody mentioned Neil. 3 chances. I know Neil can be a difficult guy, but they did great things together.
I have met this man some many times at the restaurant Kintaro's in Kappa he was a super man he never let it show when I would bring someone to met him I tried to not do it because Kauai HI was a place that everyone just knew everyone and if you were an honest business man you had it made that UIsland so special once David was There. Glenn Fry RIP Lived there also!
Most of these inductions don't do much for me, but this one really got to me. The father (Stills), son (Nash) and the holy ghost (Crosby) - as Don McLean referred to them - live up to their reputations. To see Crosby so grateful after regaining his life, and now to look back over 20 years later and know he really did manage to quiet the demons, is pretty inspiring.
Stephen Stills wrote "Find the Cost of Freedom." With lyrics, "Find the cost of freedom buried in the ground. Mother Earth will swallow you, lay your body down" The song plays as the credits role at the end of the countercultural celebration of the "anti-heroes" Peter Fonda and Jack Nicholson who are murdered just for being "hippies" at the end of Easy Rider. That song became an anthem largely because of the movie. I don't know why this is never mentioned.
Wow.. theses men are the bomb. Didn't have to look at paper. What they said was from the heart. Now they grew older. All have white hair. I wish they could come back to gether again and sing to us all.
CSN no Y? No one even acknowledged him or his contributions to the group? I loved he first record and no one has ever made anything like it since, but Deja vu really brought these guys out there. Neil wrote Ohio a well as Helpless, & Country Girl. He was always apart from the trio but he should be part of this legacy IMHO.
Love CSN ❤️ it sad that there was no mention at all of Neil Young’s contribution…. The Kent State that was mentioned by James Taylor ❤️❤️ was actually a song written and composed by Neil which made a huge impact on an entire generation.
As a player I might agree with you but this group isn’t mainly about the playing, it’s about the singing. I’ve see Crosby and Nash by themselves and I can assure you they aren’t eclipsed in the singing/harmonizing department by Stills. The reason the group formed in the first place was what they sounded like when Nash harmonized with them at the party JT mentions which no one agrees where was, hence the reference to “Laurel Canyon.” As a writer, it’s kind of hard to ignore Teach Your Children, Our House, Just A Song Before I Go, or Wasted On The Way, all of which were written by Nash, or Long Time Gone or Deja Vu or even the changes that became Wooden Ships, all of which are Crosby.
I was at Kent State University on May 4, 1970. Neil Young wrote the song “Ohio”. This should have included Neil Young! The most normal Crosby has ever appeared.
Neil wasn't on the first album, was already inducted as a solo artist 2 years earlier, and that same night was Inducted (with Stills) as part of Buffalo Springfield. Probably isn't necessary to induct them all over again... surely everyone feels suitably honored since all four of them are doubly-inducted (Nash with the Hollies and Crosby with the Byrds)?
After watching this many years later I found that bitterness still hold strong ontotwo hearts. David Crosby was the only one that spoke from his heart he also has asked for forgiveness and also called Nash and Stiles his brothers. For Nash to say that he was a Christian he still has total hate in his heart. Stiles never said anything except to Nash and his family and his crazy characters in his life. What the three of them need to remember is that the three of them is why they became famous not one not two but all three. Very sad
Complex, sophisticated, soulful. ? They ran Public Television in the Pacific Northwest during the eighties. Their performances where so responded to when they performed - PBS kept dipping into their well in order to pay for them due to public demand. So much for Jacque Cousteau. James, tell them to please cut us a cheque. La Donna. Xxx.
They could have at least shown some class by burying the hatchet and acknowledging the contribution that Neil Young made for a short time when it was CSNY. You can disagree strongly with someone but still acknowledge the magic that was. Oh well .. a missed opportunity to show who holds the moral high ground. I still love everything they recorded and their tolerance for Crosby's difficult dance with the Devil himself. Their music lives on ... forever ... would love another album boys ...
The conventional thing would be for a group to act as if it was all great for the event, even though it wasn't. Easier said than done when it's not your life.
Jesus, judging from the comments here, I can't think of another "supergroup" with fans who hated certain members more than the members hated each other.
As much as I think James Taylor made a wonderful, touching speech. The fact he mentioned two songs written by Neil Young and Joni Mitchell probably wasn't wise.
