June 2012 David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash on CBS. They're back on tour! CSN 2O12, THE FIRST LIVE PERFORMANCE FILM OF CROSBY, STILLS & NASH IN OVER TWO DECADES, TO BE RELEASED JULY 17 IN BLU-RAY, DVD/2CD AND DIGITAL FORMATS
I'm 73 and right there with you. Actually met them all, after several years of being a fan, backstage in West Palm Beach at an open air concert. I will never forget it!
I saw them on their Last Tour performance in '74 at the Oakland Coliseum California. They went right into "Love the one you're with" and really got that crowd going. Even with outside acoustics, they still sounded great!
I saw CSNY at Winterland (a former ice skate rink converted to a light show concert hall) in San Francisco just after Neil joined. Everyone would bring a blanket, a snack, and a joint. We all lay down and watched the most amazing light shows while listening to the intro bands, waiting for CSNY to play. It got real quiet.... then this high pitched clear voice... "Be on my side baby 🎶 .... (Down by the River song) and I sat up completely melting inside. That was Neil and I had fallen deeply in love with his voice. I had been to Woodstock just before he joined CSN. To this day, I still love listening to their songs. AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL AND PROFOUND BLEND OF TALENT 💎💜💎
@@wallacecleaver4485 No. I was born on the Army Base in Nuremberg, Germany in 1972, since that's where my Daddy was stationed. He was discharged honorably in 1973, and Mom had divorced him and remarried by 1977. The Louvin Brothers, Alabama Band in country music are my cousins. Other musicians hail from this area. As do uneducated idjits that actually DID support Roy Moore for our Senate. I'm very good at BOOK LEARNING. I taught myself to read musicand play Chess by the time I was 6 years old. Sacred Heart Gospel and Hippie Folk/Southern rock.
i was glad to meet these guys in person me and crosby had a great talk about one of his albums the one with the three of them on the couch with the old house well they werent sitting right so they went back but the house was torn down sorry
These three very talented men have made some of the best music , the best to me personally. Neil added to the group but they did awesome without him as well .
@@ginnybloomer5132 they are all talented. Stephen controlled the studio though, that's for sure. The CSN sound is a byproduct of Stephen's drive and technical savvy.
THEY ARE RIGHT BUT NEIL YOUNG IS UP THERE WITH DYLAN AND BETTER TAHN ANY OF THESE WRITERS (what has Crosby written - 4 decent or good songs and a one line from 8 miles hight. THESE GUYS ARE WRONG ABOUT PAUL BEING A BETTER SONGWRITER or having better melodies THAN JOHN. They were already fighting behind the scenes when they did this interview. Nash was just doing his public relations thing. The slow-motion car wreck took another three years (December 2015) to finally screech to a halt.
I love how they have the nerve to ask them about Neil after he totally ditched Stephen on the BS tour with like 30 dates to go. Leaving him holding all the mess.
The group is so much better when Young is not with them! Interesting comment on them getting along, but this was 2012, ten years ago before Crosby and Nash decided not to talk to each other! Stills is my favorite musician of all time! That man is magical when he wants to be! Wow Stephen just gave a shout out for Brandi Carlisle. I can't agree more!
Love that Croz gives credit to McCartney for inspiration. He’s a solid fan of The Beatles, check out the press interview in Pasadena (I think) 1966. Croz was there
Although the digital era has arguably contributed to the death of artistic and meaningful music, it has also allowed kids to go on RU-vid and ignore the crimes against humanity you hear on the radio and instead listen to all the greats of the 60s/70s. I was lucky and heard Hendrix when I was 13 (21 now).
sounds like someone judges the entire generation on music based on a cursory listen on mainstream radio. There was plenty of cheese and blandness in the 60s/70s, too.
Now the Beatles invented three part harmony in pop music? Jesus. Ever heard of The Andrews Sisters? The Lettermen? Peter, Paul, and Mary? If I thought a bit, I could come up with more. All were the pop music of their time.
Yes, it's annoying that Neil is brought up here. That tour wasn't the only one he quit during their partnership. Stephen has said that Neil left a lot of people connected with that tour out of work last summer too. He says he's "not mad" at Neil. What a forgiving guy! I think I would not be so generous.
Exactly. Young walked out on Buffalo Springfield with 30 venues left on the tour. I am not Young's biggest fan! Stills is my favorite musician and has been for decades!
Too bad this band is dead. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young is definitely dead. Crosby burned all the bridges. So sad and a true loss for all music lovers.
@@lastnamefirst4035 Happy New Year to you Sammy it's now nearly 9pm New Year's day here in Victoria Australia and still quite warm. Although it's Winter in America guessing it's still pretty warm where you are. All the best for 2021
@@michaelrose3101and Crosby had issues with several groups. I talked with Roger McGuinn after a concert in 1969 in Ft Worth, along with Chris Hillman. Roger said the reason he was no longer with the Byrds because of his drugs and inability to get along with the band.
@MikeHinshawNomadicTexan No doubt. I spoke to Hillman in 2012 and I mentioned to him Stills and Nash signed a record cover for me,but David no chance.

Why in the world do interviewers constantly ask the same stupid questions, "why do you keep doing it?" or, "if you were not doing music what would you be doing?" Would you ask this question to a banker, a doctor, a news moderator or a university professor? Or does it mean that they don't like what they are doing and want them to quit and do something else? What is the point??
He says, after listening several times that he likes Nash's songs and then likes Crosby's songs, but one of the interviewers interrupted him as they did several times!
apparently Crosby is a bit more of a jerk out of the 4 of them (see Nash's interview "he tore the hear out of CSNY" as well as what Crosby had to say about Young's newest wife; a statement he'd late retract). *sidenote: I absolutely love Crosby!
Sunshine Ray. Try finishing his biography. He's so far up himself but not averse to savaging those around him.Lent book out to friends to hear their take on it they agreed.
Gord Goble, I don't understand people like you. Not only is your comment negative and lacking any purpose, it is an oxy moron. You say you have no interest in anything they have done , then why on earth do you waste your time looking at them on this site? These guys are musicians and visionaries, their talents and harmonies at the top. Please look at your life brother, I feel it may be lacking somewhere.
"Mainstream media" is the result of American capitalism and unfettered regulation AKA corporate monopolies. Other countries have publicly-funded media but everyone here in the states (at least, the right wingers) always cry "SOCIALISM! to that idea. You can't have it both ways.
Cream rises to the top and the grounds go to the bottom floor of the Universe or Galaxy. I'm into the Milky Way. They go one way, and I go the opposite.
"Is all of that in the past now?" Sure until David trashed Neil's GF (Daryl Hannah). That ended any hope of a reunion or any friendship or anything other than distain toward David. They will never play together again.
Amazing guys, talking or not....But the never ending sensation that Mt. Nash is all about himself never leaves me...Watched a Hollies doc recently, and it was back then that view arose. Watching this interview said it again.....Thank you for the music, but it would be so much better if he toned it down a bit....It was a group, not one person.
The questions were geared toward the general, which is to be expected on a show like this. So they didn't say anything surprising or even substantive. They might have said the music today is just crap. Many of the old artists such as Keith Richards will tell you flat out what they think: “There is no new rock ’n’ roll. It’s pointless. There’s great musicians and some great singers and stuff. Unfortunately, to me, in music, it’s been synthesised to death,” Richards harshly stated. “Once you start synthesising things, you’re not getting the real thing.” He then added, “I don’t want to go into a long discourse on what’s wrong with synthesisers and music these days, except to say they’re cheap and corny.” Instead, Nash just offers some trite statement about how there's always been good music and bad. Does he really believe that or is he just trying to alienate anyone?
PDowns: Here's a couple thoughts: The olders almost always trash the youngers. Hieroglyphs from Egypt tells that very same story. On the other hand - what would you think Mozart would have done with a synth? Talent seeks expression and finds it. It has to be heard and seen on its own terms, though...
As we say in France: never insult the future... And, to say things the simple way: "Neil is neil" and there's no way around it... Neil happens to be the only one who's actually still a star...
You have to be kidding. Stephen Stills is the best musician in the group and can sing great. Young is always leaving tours and people holding the bag. Like with 30 venues left on the Buffalo Springfield tour he just left, leaving the rest of the group to pick up the pieces. He has walked out on these guys several times also. His early music was great, but I cannot agree he's the best musician left.
He's partially deaf from all the loud music over the years. I am guessing he's probably very self-conscious about it and doesn't talk strong, because he's not able to truly hear himself. What is worse for me is the way the interviewers keep interrupting him.
I wanted Charlie Rose to shut up . . . I liked her question "What else do you like to do?" besides music . . . He ruined the interview and I ordinarily like him.
I was lucky enough to hear the Byrds play in Ft Worth Texas and my date and I walked around to the backstage door. It was open so we went in. McGuinn talked with us for about an hour and Chris Hillman for about 45 minutes. Both said they just couldn't handle Crosby's drug habits anymore. Probably one of their best decisions!
@John Brown Rejection Steven Stills stood school boy like Flowers in his hand With the gift of a guitar new made Martin brand Begging her to keep him Judy Blue eyes stared Steven went on stamering saying that he cared my now Steven that was nice said the hippy Qween We can be the best of friends I m not really mean Your not Gordon Lightfoot and I am not your bud Go on back to Croz and Nash Il never be your blood.
Croaby's voice was awesome still 2000-17 or so. havent seen him since then but even last time i saw him he killed it. Nashs voice was still good too Stills voice has been pretty wiped put for awhile but hes a phenomenal musician
