In case people are wondering why his carry distance is that short: he's hitting into a strong wind and they use a trackman. At 140+ mph club head speed you'll usually see a carry distance of more than 340 yards.

Jaw-dropping. 140+ mph CHS, with nearly 200 mph ball speed and hits it ~300 yards. I can only hit get it around 102 mph CHS, and my club members are already impressed.

285 carry with over 130mph club head speed seems a bit short ^^ I expected around 300 carry with that speed aswell as 143 mph club head speed and just 303 carry

***** I'm pretty sure those are range balls. Somewhat impressive distances with range balls. I say somewhat impressive because I have a cousin that can carry it 350 with shit range balls (unofficial WR swing speed 171)

***** The distances don't make any sense at all. These are range balls 100%. I have seen other clinics he has done, and the distances are completely different. Do you really think a long drive champion only hits his driver a little over 300? You're off your rocker. I have 25 mph less SS and have hit drives longer. I don't think they want him to crush it into the people across the range anyway.

I have seen other clinics aswell and they were further, but this shoot was done at the pga show with all companys and booths. So I would think they have their own balls there and not some range balls. Have you seen Ricks video with the vapors, he was hitting there with the rzn balls.

Leigh Bresnahan He tried to play on the Web.com and only made 1 cut in his short career. Goes to prove distance doesn't mean shit if you can't hit it straight, or have a bad short game/putting.

Callum Ferguson Massive lag and I am sure there is some de-lofting there. In all honesty who really cares though, the guy made one cut at his stint on the web.com tour, goes to show how little distance can mean.

petecabrina not correct at all actually. He has not had a"stint" on the web.com tour. He has played 3 events on web.com all on sponsors exemptions and made 2 cuts. The cut he missed was in 2012. Rumor is he is thinking of transitioning to playing more. Would be curious to see how it goes seeing as how he has actually played well in the events he has competed in...that tour is ultra competitive along with the field being cut to fewer than PGA tour events. And then add on the fact that he has not even prepared for pro golf and has prepared for long drive, so imagine what he could do if he were to fully transition and prepare.

brian cross Well fair enough, but I still bet he makes no transition over. I imagine it would mean making serious changes to his swing as well, doing this for years would seem not helpful at all.

He swung the 29 inch driver 124 mph. Most putters are in the 32-35 inch range. So yeah, 116 mph with a half ass swing is definitely believable.

Man a good 3 wood goes about as far if not farther than a driver. I think you can swing the club faster due to clubface being smaller (less drag).

I wonder what loft he plays? I'd like to think 52 degrees but because pros are so good w/ ball striking, I often wonder if they play lower lofts for their wedges and just open the face/flaten the blade more when they need more loft? So like would Bubba Watson, or Jaime in this case, use a 46 degree PW, 48 for a gap and 50 or 52 for a SW where I'd use 48 for a PW, 52 for a gap and 56 for a SW. Side note, who the fuck is hitting a PW 165 on average, smh? I'm lucky if I hit mine 130.

That's how I started playing - 9-iron for all short shots, with varying degrees of opening of the face. Pretty effective, too.

They should have turned the normalization feature on. Also - his smash is so damn low... shows that this "XR" driver is bad. Even if its a range ball his smash should be way higher.

+Zv Zvarko - 2011 Jamie played 2 Web.com events and made the 36-hole cut. Average driving distance 364 yards. Bubba 2011 315 yards. Jamie GIR was 66%, Bubba's was 69%. Jamie needs to work on chipping and putting and then he can contend.

+Zv Zvarko There had to be a head wind or something. When you listen to the numbers they just don't make sense. 143 club head speed is what they do during comp, and they can bomb the ball 400~ with that speed. Edit: at 8:23 they say he is hitting into a strong head wind. Nobody on tour does these numbers into a strong head wind.

He just thrashes and long drive comps...no feel on his swing just full out hard as he can hit it. No accuracy obviously or he'd be competing.

+JorJor812 you have to be extremely accurate at those distances in long drive competitions. Some drives go out of bounds because they try to kill it as hard as they can. Jamie swings 15 mph faster than the average tour pro. Im sure if he tuned down the power he'd be even more accurate and still hit it as far as anyone else on tour. The man just needs to develop his short game (although i have not seen it) and boom you have a tour pro
