Hey there, could you do Chris Knox's Not Given Lightly? One of the greatest love songs ever from New Zealand with a climactic build-up and ending. Check it out.
I think you would also like COSMIC GIRL, SPACE COWBOY, DEEPER UNDERGROUND & TOO YOUNG TO DIE. Jay Kay the singer is actually English even though he has an American singing accent..
Being from the UK, I'm with you on all these, Jenny, loved Jay Kay and Co, they were big in the here but, I don't think that they were so big in the USA, apart from 'Virtual Insanity', I hope that he does more of their stuff in reactions/reviews.
I would just add "Corner of the Earth" to the list to show his range. Amazing vocalists that is only known in the US as the dude dancing on the moving floor. Probably why he never tours over here anymore
I'm so glad Jamiroquai is getting some love, suddenly. They made some of the best music of the last 25 years. There's an extended version of this song - the last bit was cut off prematurely in this radio edit version. I have to admit, even though I saw them live once, life got in the way and I lost track of the second half of their discography, but from what I know, there was NEVER a Jamiroquai song that was less than BRILLIANT!
Acid Jazz and Funk is Jamiroquai's style. They heavily utilize jazz chords and voicings, even for the strings (which are real strings, not just a synth string pad)
I grew up a rocker/metal head and always watched MTV and MTV2 for the videos back in the day. I was such a snob I’d switch channels when non-rock would play, looking for something heavier. This is one of the few songs I just COULDN’T skip. There’s just something about that groove that is undeniable. Thanks for the reaction!!
There's a little bit of rock 'n roll in Jay Kay. He was doing the exact opposite of what was supposed to be popular at the time, and doing it successfully.
I was supposed to see Jamiroquai live at the Jazz Festival in Nice in 1994, but they cancelled due to sickness. I was really bummed out. Went to see the replacement that I had never heard of... The Roots. Still haven't seen Jamiroquai live, but that Roots show blew my mind and opened up a whole new world of music to me. That's my story of how I never saw Jamiroquai live.
Oh my! You must listen to Little L, Cosmic Girl, Seven Days in Sunny June, Alright, You Give Me Something, Cloud 9... I love these songs they are high on my feel good groovin' playlist.
Yes yes yes, knew you’d love these guys more. I’ll keep saying the same list too lol: ‘little l’ ‘space cowboy’ ‘you give me something’ ‘love foolosophy’ ‘cosmic girl’. Also Jamiroquai is the band name, the lead singer is Jay Kay 👍
The 90s: Opened with "Vogue" by Madonna and "Groove is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite Ruled by Massive Attack Closed with "Canned Heat" and (the album) by Jamiroquai
This is my first time hearing this song. When ever this song came out until now is how many years I’ve wasted! This song is a damn jam! Great reaction Jamel!

I LOVE JAMIROQUAI ever since receiving his NEW FIRST ALBUM for my birthday back in the early 90's and then seeing him in a small club BEFORE he got famous!!!! EVERY SONG on EVERY ALBUM from his first until his most recent have been stellar. He took the ACID JAZZ genre up a notch and perfected the FUNK DISCO ROCK RETRO ELECTRONICA sound with his perfect voice and wonderfully clever COSMIC lyrical references and metaphors. This piece is a great autobiographical take on the origins of his musical shift in consciousness! GREAT songwriter of slick funk jazz driven influenced rhythms along with beautiful soulful ballads. FYI If you know or learn the history of his influences you'll find much of his inspiration comes from 70's jazzy atmospheric funk bands like Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Lou Donaldson, EWF, Grant Green, Sly Stone, Gil Scott-Heron, of course Stevie Wonder and a slew of lesser known greats from that era...
Jamiroquai brought back the groove from the late 70's, the real one, not the disco one (although I like(d) it also), listening to this guy is pure bliss and transports you out of this world, each and every time.
I’m glad you’re getting to Jamiroquai! They’re so good. You have to check out the album A Funk Odyssey. Songs like Feel So Good, Little L, Corner of the Earth. Thanks!
I came across your commentary about Virtual Insanity today and now I’m watching this. I went to Jamiroquai’s concert in Vancouver Canada, I used to travel to England a lot long time ago. Almost 20 years ago. I could never understand why people here and US, could never really appreciate his music. Maybe too complex for them. Hahaha I found your video so refreshing and entertaining. Wow I’m impressed that after all these years here you are, reintroducing Jamiroquai music to the masses in North America. lol your energy is fantastic and infectious, you are a musician at heart, beautiful soul. The world needs more people like you. Love and peace from Vancouver Canada. You rock.. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos. ❤️❤️❤️🥰 What about Neneh Cherry, “Woman” , “Manchild”, Yousou N’Dour and Neneh Cherry -“7seconds”, “Kootchi”, “I’ve got you under my skin’ , wasn’t she amazing?
First time I ever heard this song was when it was in Napoleon Dynamite, during the finale presidential debate. That was a good summer, I’ll never forget it or the soundtrack that summer gave us!
I'm soooooooo happy you reacted to this song! I knew you'd love it! You just can't sit still listening to it! It's one of my fav's, like one of those, if you're stuck on a deserted island, this would be on my playlist kind of song, lol. Thanks for all your videos and all the hard work you do to bring them to us. Love all the words on all the shirts you wear!!
Damn, i'm a HUGE Jamiroquai fan, I always love it when new people find them and have the same problem i've always had ... no matter what, I hear Jamiroquai and I can't help but move! Doesn't matter if it's tapping my feet or like Jamal here, getting up and dancing, you can not help but move your body! Great reaction man
I had dinner with them about 15 years ago. They were playing at one of our casinos, they liked our energy, sat down with us , we ate, drank and had a memorable night ✌
i remember back in 1998, i was visiting relatives in Lyon, France, as i was living in the UK at that time... it was summertime and i remember seeing this guy walking fown the street, with the tattoo of Jamiroquai's silhouette from his first album... i thought : 'damn, this guy might regret it in a few years'... ... i bet he still has this tattoo, and he's probably still showing it off proudly!
I bought that album when it was new. I still love Jamiroquai. I had a lot of fun watching you enjoy yourself. I saw a couple of Rerun moves in there. Had me laughing so hard. Keep spreading that joy.
He doesn’t write music, he writes the lyrics and comes up with the melodies (or borrows the melodies from other musicians) Toby Smith (keyboard player) was his co-song writer and wrote the music along with the other band members 👍🏼
This would be great to have as an alarm clock option -- you'd hear this and be dancing while you were still in bed, and you'd be waking all the way up by the time the song was ovah.
