Workers' Party MP for Seng Kang GRC, Associate Professor Jamus Lim has expressed concerns over the breakdown in communication between government departments in relation to the Allianz-Income deal.
He pointed out that there appeared to be an “information gap” between the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth (MCCY), which had implications for the oversight of the deal.
According to Assoc Prof Lim, this lack of coordination could have led to inadequate risk assessments and delayed sharing of crucial information.
He raised questions about why relevant government agencies did not coordinate more effectively, particularly on a transaction of such importance.
Assoc Prof Lim urged for a review of how departments exchange data and proposed that future deals of this nature involve a more structured multi-agency approach.
Improved coordination would help prevent such communication failures and better protect Singapore’s interests in strategic financial transactions. #singapore #JamusLim #Allianz #IncomeInsurance #GovernmentTransparency
