JAN AKKERMAN SOLO ACOUSTIC, ZUNDERT 2009 

Zelfs als hij niet vlakbij zijn versterker staat kan hij niet van de knoppen afblijven. Ik moet altijd lachen als ik Jan zie spelen. Geweldig. Hij blijft mijn favoriet. Miljoenen kereltjes en meiskes zitten zich de takken te oefenen in hun slaapkamertjes, en allemaal denken ze dat de beste de snelste moeten zijn. Iedereen kan spelen wat Jan speelt maar niemand klinkt zoals hij klinkt: uniek, kippenvel, eigenwijs. Dat is wat de groten groot maakt; een uniek, niet te imiteren geluid. Zet 5000 gitaristen op een rij, zet Jan in het midden en, met je ogen dicht, pik je hem er binnen een paar noten uit. Is hij de beste? Niet interessant. Hij raakt me, meer dan wie dan ook, en dat heeft Vai nog nooit gedaan.

Inderdaad, emotionele muziek uit het hart in fel contrast met wat men gemiddeld brengt de dag vandaag.

Jan is simply The Best. Great playing here.

One of my favorite players since his days with Brainbox & i was lucky to see Jan with Focus in 73 here in the States . They just get much better than this man. Awesome composition with such feel & great tone & you know it must have sounded so good there than on film. Of all the players Clapton has had on his Crossroads fests. Jan should have been there even if he doesn't come to the States anymore to play. He is the great one .

I read an interview with him in guitar player magazine, early 70's where he was asked about other guitarists and without putting them down, he said been there done that. Eat your heart out Eric.

Great stuff! This guy is so versatile and creative. If you like this song, do a youtube search Night Coach (Tony Rice/John Carlini) - similar haunting style phrasing on acoustic guitar.

There would appear to be a giraffe being sick in the audience at around 5.00 ish. Have the poor creature put down, so that we can enjoy this wonderful music.

Jan Akkerman and Jeff Beck are the two masters that make the rest sound like amateurs. Maybe they should team up, like jazz players often did.
