Oh my goodness Jan Garber is my grandfather's brother!! I am oh so proud he bought me a violin 🎻 when i was 6 yrars old❤

Phyllis Kenny has the sweetest voice, and it's smooth as silk! "Lookie Cookie" seems custom-made for her to sing. I like how in this clip, "Lookie" is sung first, and then in "Thanks for the Memories" which is subsequently sung, "Lookie" song is mentioned in the lyrics. I like the delivery of the baritone singer's voice here too; it seemed to compliment Kenny's style perfectly. Wish there was a little more background about Phyllis Kenny available somewhere, as I could't find much in online search. I did find a few bands mentioned that she sang with, and a list of recordings. Interestingly enough, the band in the video here was not mentioned. "Thanks for the memory" with this posting of a special video!

Well Cookie sure didn't stand the test of time.

What a terrible band, the lugubrious male vocalist is better fit for singing at funerals. And those ghastly sounding saxes, unsophisticated trombone, bah! I can quite believe Jan Garber's children as schoolchildren being ashamed of their father's totally un-hip band. In response he led a swing band for a couple of years that got very little exposition due to the war and the 1942-1944 Petrillo recording ban. But Garber's heart wasn't in it and he went back to mickey-mouse music soon after the war making terrible sounds but a very good living.
