Somehow a mystical enlightenment wave seemed to have 'popped up' troughout Europe around this period. Meister Eckhart, , Ruysbroeckthe the writer of the cloud of unknowing Julian of Norwich , etc, They seem to desribe the same 'énd- phenomena' so many nondual eastern mystics desribe & aim for , I wonder why & how this quest for a direct experience of únion with god' got lost within the Catholic tradition
