I´m sorry but Janet at her peak was the greatest entertainer to ever live. Not even Michael was going this hard. I´m sorry but fact are facts. This is insane. Shout outs to Tina Landon for the choreo.
Yet you can still see the influence Michael has on Janet. I saw quite a few MJ moves while Janet was dancing to the side letting the dancers dance. I don't think anyone can top Michael and Janet.
Her show might be better than his show, but Michael was more talented than Janet. Nothign wrong with that, both are world class, but Michael Jackson is the Michael jordan of entertainment.
This was a memorable performance. I love how the entire performance was done in a freeform kinda way like her n her peeps were all at the club having fun n challenging each other's dance expertise. It also highlighted her fabulous dancers n choreographer Tina. That whole Bohemian vibe that her 'janet' album had was n still is way cool!
Absolutely not! She made the best of it which is why she came out, but she was extremely depressed, which a failed relationship couldn’t only make worst. She tunneled it until one of the most creative themes anyone’s ever seen.
Tina Landon 🇲🇽🇨🇺 did her thangggg on this choreography!!!! The biggest and most iconic Janet dances were choreographed by Tina, she’s a beast in dancing and never really gets her props ❤❤❤❤
I was 12 years old when I watched this live on SNL. I was mesmerized by this performance and have searched for it for so long. I wish there was a better quality out there because it is amazing.
OMG for reals! There is a better version of this dance but it's an entirely different SNL performance but with the same dancers. But this was the best one.
And I recorded it on VHS yes!!!! VHS. lol I still have it somewhere. Anyway, I had enough time to buy a new VHS tape for this to record coz prior that weekend they were advertising it that Jan was going to be the musical guest so I went to my local Walmart and bought a VHS tape to record this. I was 14 goin on 15 in ‘94
You can’t teach spontaneity! The reason this dance piece is so phenomenal is the way in which they make it look unrehearsed. That’s what makes a great dancer, amongst naturally being able to ride a beat. Dancing shouldn’t look like an 8 count.
They all ate it up, but Omar- with those perfect lines! You can't take your eyes off of him. And Shawnette is giving Josephine Baker banana dance in that skirt. ❤️❤️❤️
I remember reading the lyrics to this entire album on the cassette pamphlet. It's one of the few albums that you can listen to from beginning to end, without skipping.
...you kids don't know...YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!! ...Janet was on the 'Because Of Love" single the time this performance (May? of 1994), and, she JUST released "Anytime, Anyplace"...So, she SHOCKED us, with this intricate, avant-garde, DEFTLY choreographed piece for the ALBUM TRACK "Throb"....and, it BLEW our MINDS!! ..Even the costumes here, were ahead of their time; Kilts, schoolgirl pleated skirts, Mohair vests...this was equivalent to Madonna's MTV Awards performance for "Vogue" with the "Dangerous Liasons" period costumes...but FUNKIER! ...A CLASSIC Janet performance, if not her GAME-CHANGER...go ON, Gurl.. >missJanet
Thanks for sharing this clip. I was 16 years old when I watched Janet Jackson on MTV. I really love this song and just dance to it. ❤❤❤ Fantastic memories.
Me too. But if u pay close attention this is the rehearsal version cut. Because the one male dancer with the fur vest, he is not wearing that on the one that air on SNL plus in this video he tears his black pants on the crotch area and on the one aired he is wearing an oranging color plaid pants without the fur vest. Ps in the this version after the rip pants he tells Shawnette and Tina about his pants being torn as they are dancing pay attention to him you see this.
I love Janet Jackson, Her brother Michael as well. I saw this performance on TV on SNL. Heather Locklear was the host. Janet inspired quite a few lady singers who became big pop stars, including Britney Spears. Britney Spears said Janet Jackson was one of her inspirations to become a singer.
Yes the one that air on SNL because the one male dancer with the fur vest he ain’t wearing that vest and his pants are more color oranging plaid vs black pants. Ps in this video he rips his pants on the crotch area he even tells Shawnette and Tina about as he is dancing. Pay close attention to him. His rips it when he is doing his routine with Shawnette as he makes that split that’s when he rips it. I think this the rehearsal version. Not the one aired on SNL that night.
The best live performance for this song ever, from SNL (I too have it on tape (VHS) lol I swear one of the male dancer ripped his pants either prior or during the performance hence why he has a jacket or something wrapped around his waist haha
This group was Janet's best dancers! Tina bringing it with the choreography.. Sis in the green top was always a beast! And my boo Omar in the kilt, sexy asf with them moves.
This is an alternate performance of the version we're use to seeing in the better quality. This looks like a dress rehearsal or something but then again there's a studio audience at the end so...🤷🏾♂️But there are definitely 2 different performances. This is probably just the one that wasn't broadcasted
This is the rehearsal cut. And ps the one male dancer with the fur vest he tore his pants on the crotch area he even tells Shawnette and Tina about it as he is dancing. The one that air on SNL he is wearing a plaid oranging pant without the fur vest. Love this performance I have it recorded in vhs yes!!! VHS 📼 somewhere in my house
So this is a different performance from the one that was aired back in 1994. Most likely a dress rehearsal. Sean Cheeseman ( one of the Male dancers) is wearing a different top in this video vs the TV performance.
