Thanks to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Janet somehow managed to have a "singing" career, and please be reminded that we should use the term there very very very loosely. Madonna is THE ARTIST - she doesn't do the typical military type of choreography that the Jacksons are so fond of but she is a fantastic dancer, certainly way more creative and artistic with her body than Janet, she is someone who actually has thoughts and translates them into amazing performances, definitely a better singer as well, and most importantly she is a genuine songwriter and co-produced most of her stuff. There's no comparison really - they just happened to be in the same era or period of time.
