No. He definitely had no fear of dying. He wanted to see his enemies, especially Vincenzo, dead before he died. I think the most terrifying scenes of his rage was the bloody steak scene, the speeding car scene and the prison scene. The prison scene the most not because of him biting off dudes ear twice, but his rage and almost breaking free from the guards.
