Fabulous! Just bursting with character & brio. He was even better than I'd expected. Janie P. was a gorgeous, strong, supple, vivacious & dramatic dancer, who would've been a jewel in the crown of any of the top companies at the time. I always felt she didn't get the level of attention & acclaim she deserved, due to dancing primarily with the Geneva and Houston ballets (both excellent co.s at the time, but not as widely known or high-profile as ABT, NYCB, Royal, POB, Joffrey, Stuttgart, or even Natl. Ballet of Canada or Béjart's XXième Siècle. A friend who worked w. her in Geneva adored her personally, portraying her as completely down to earth, with no pretension, a great sense of humor & a big heart. Wish I could've seen her dance more. Ben Stevenson is truly a great artist, teacher & director. He's developed so many wonderful dancers, including many dancing now in his Texas Ballet Theater. THANKS for posting this!
I met him last week and he is one of the most inspiring individuals around . The Queensland Ballet is most fortunate to have his directorship & creative vision .
Wow! so very lucky to have miss Janie parker teach the black swan variation at our dance studio this sumer! I love this video. She was an amazingly beautiful dancer then and is a great teacher now!
damn that dude is fluid. not like some men who dance like it's a gymnastics routine or something. excellent book by the way, was written by Cunxin, Mao's Last Dancer. I recommend it to all young male dancers especially.
@@loveispatient0808 You can see for yourself, there are clips of him dancing in a film as well the whole film and you can judge by yourself. To me he was. Just type in Mao's Last Dancer
@rafyful I stand corrected. Well, then I amend my comment to say "That's strength. I would like to see all those powerlifters attempt these lifts." And might I add, with the grace and fluidity of Li Cunxin. Better?
