I’m a 71 year old Rocker and this message is to all the younger generation please keep Artist such as Janis ,Hendrix,Zeppelin,Santana around in your Hearts and Soul’s as long as possible Peace😊
I'm a 62 year old Black mother of 3, and 3 grandchildren! Everybody's gone for the night! So I started putting up Christmas decorations and got 5 rooms to do. 5 hrs later 4 1/2 rooms still to do! I can't get out of my room in the basement. I've been replaying it over and over for 4/12 now! I keep saying I'm gonna listen 1 more time and I'm gonna go finish 😂 Kids today don't know what good music is! Hope everyone had a Blessed Thanksgiving .
I hear ya Dawn.... LOL ...and I love it!!! Same thing happens to me! I'm 65, 6 kids, 9 grandchildren....how time flies by!!!! Not sure where all the time went, but here we are! Love ya ❤
@@paulmm5175 Thank you, I wish the same for you and everyone else! I finished decorating last Thursday. I wonder if I can do the outside by Christmas 😂😂♥️
This is from Festival Express...1970...not long before she passed. You can feel all the emotion of somebody pouring it all out there...like a candle burning down. I saw Janis twice...both times in 1968...I will never get over it.
No doubt. I was on a road trip yesterday, flying through a mountain pass as the sun was setting and this song came on the radio. I felt her emotions and the power of the words so intensely that I wanted to cry and at the same time a feeling came over me of wanting to be better and try harder and not let life drag me down. God Bless Janis Joplin.
the best artist, above all women and also above all men, elvis, michael jackson, bowie, mercury, hendrix, above all, what she does is humanly impossible, in every sense
Enjoy Janis even more than yesteryear!!! 2:11 i saw Janis live in Denver about 50 yrs ago. Big Brother and the Holding Co was also performing with Janis. I was about 10 ft from her stage and I was dancing free style like everyone else!
All these years after her death(similarly like Jimi Hendrix) both are continually spoken about today. Had they both lived today, they would roughly be 80 years of age. Sad!
14 year old kid in communist Poland, I wore black, I had nobody to talk too, my soul was aching, western music was salvation for us. Thank God for that and the memories.
Era otra época, entonces los artistas tenían talento,no necesitaban enseñar su cuerpo ni montar espectáculos dantescos, simplemente era necesario una mujer con mucho talento,un micrófono y sus músicos(por supuesto también talentosos)❤
@@ryanjones4150 It can be true trust me. I'm 53 and while i've always known about her existence, I can't remember ever hearing her singing anything since i've always played pop radio stations and veered towards buying pop/disco type records when I was young. Rock was just never my type of music so I never exposed myself to it and if the music was before the 70's, I never really cared to hear it. That could certainly be true of the OP. Sadly my hearing has gone away so much these days that music is inaccessible to me anymore but I still enjoy watching old 70's/80's music videos on YT while remembering in my mind how they sounded. Anyway, one day recently I stumbled upon a Janis Joplin thumbnail and clicked on it out of curiosity and even though I can't hear her singing, just watching her perform leaves me mesmerized, and I now regret never tuning into her music when I could hear well. Big regret! But even by just watching her without hearing her voice, i'm still so moved by her performances and thankfully some of her videos here are closed captioned (like this one) so I can follow along to the lyrics while watching. I think it's a testament to her greatness that even people like myself who can't hear her can still enjoy watching her perform. Hopefully when the time comes for me to cross to the other side to where she is, she will give me a personal concert of all her songs and I can then hear and appreciate them all. That would be so cool....(and yes, I do believe that is possible!) ....Sorry for the rant....I didn't expect my reply to be so long ha.
as some of the comments have mentioned, what made janis joplin stand out leagues above other singers wasnt her skill at singing, it was her skill of invoking raw emotion through music, which has been unachievable for most if not all other modern day singers. skill like this hasnt been seen since ela fitzgerald and the lords of blues
Eine Legende halt und das wird sie immer bleiben. Schade das es keine neuen Lieder von ihr gibt, das wären wundervolle und unvergeßliche Songs geworden, wie alle von ihr. RIP 🌈
The way I describe Janis to people who never heard of her is. There is nothing pretty about her. Her voice is all over the place, not traditional. She is not flashy. She is not a pop star or anything like that. But when you listen to her you will feel pain, you will feel exposed, you will relive any trauma you might of faced. You will be amazed how one person can transmit so much pain and raw emotion into you heart. You will listen and think why I am I so addicted to her songs when I feel so much pain while listening..... But just like any addiction, the addiction is powerful. Its not easy to escape an addiction. Janis is by far one of my favorite singers. I can't say I enjoy her music when I listen to it. Because as an empath and someone who has experienced a ton of child hood trauma it make me feel hurt knowing how addicted she was to alchol. But when I want to feel alive and listen to someone else to relate to the pain I carry, I listen to Janis, Amy or Kurt.
It makes perfect sense to people who can relate lol ironically that's what music is 😂 you'd understand it in your own way as you relate in your own way. By judging anyone is just ignorance towards music lovers. 😅
I agree with you. I think what you said was perfect, it made perfect sense & it made me feel good (and totally understood) while reading it too - just like I do when I listen to this song. Gosh, she was taken far too soon. How old was she here?? So much felt emotion - so much DEEP emotion, for somebody so young. Just amazing, imo 💔 Edit: I know somebody that died young (30 yrs of age) due to addiction to alcohol - and several other substances too, so I totally understand where you're coming from. Please take good care of yourself - and to anybody reading this that can relate also, PLEASE get help if you're in this situation. You're playing Russian Roulette with your life if you don't, and I can tell you...it's the most painful thing a human will ever go through when the person they love dies, and you can't bring them back 😪
@@pauldoyle1864 not a competition. Just both the free spirited, troubled, renegade anti establishment types. But I'm sure you like award shows and prefer either the Beatles or stones better or vice versa but that bores me too.
This performance is from the documentary festival express 1970. Woodstock on wheels across Canada. The band, the greatful dead, Buddy Guy, Sha Na Na flew in for a show. It's one of the epic moments in music history. Festival Express a must see for Rock and roll fans. Janice poured her heart out in this one.
Janis Joplin is The Best Female Vocalist of Alltime ❤ Pearl brings people to tears when she sings , Thats an Artist!! Janis Joplin is an Icon!!! Everytime i hear this song, this version live It brings me to tears , the pain, the soul in her voice is Pure Magic ✨ ❤
Two thumbs up, two hands lifted in praise, two hearts dancing in joy, from such a great journey. 😊 I have been the tail, and God knows long suffering. I love God, and your love and truth. 😊 I was comforted earlier this morning, when I needed Her. Thank you Janis Joplin.
There are no comparisons of any musician, any band, any genre, live or studio, nowhere on the planet that can rival, equal or compare to this performance, UNLESS it is another masterpiece by Joplin..
It is a pity as can be detected, the pain that she carried inside her solitary soul in her singing, poor woman, she suffered a lot for those people, who belittled her and used her, even though she was a very simple, loving and talented woman who was looking for the love of someone sincere, her songs are beautiful but in this one she expresses a lot of pain
I'm lucky to have been blessed with knowledge of this woman since childhood. Screaming for my Supper is still one of my fav albums. Even when she was doing it rough she was a phenomenal talent. Skin, Favourite Things, Mama that disc was poetry. gawd she's always been brilliant!
@@phillsimpson456 hahaha that’s what I thought you were referring to. I thought there was some hidden Janis album that I hadn’t heard of by the same name. In the meantime, I’ve checked out the Beth Hart album and it’s great so far!
No one ever had song this song like her. This song matches all: the music, the lyrics, the performer. I am so happy, that this recording exists. No one will ever perform this pearl of a love song, this poem like Janis ever again! She3 essentially IS the song!
@@Srt_Kelly exatamente kkk fica meio difícil comparar com outras artistas de gênero ou epóca diferente... temos Etta James, Nina Simones e até mesmo Amy Winehouse
