Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee - ft Kayla Reeves - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Janis Joplin’s version of “Me and Bobby McGee” was just the second song to reach number 1 in the US by an artist that already had passed.
Who out there knows what the song was that achieved this status before Janis? Share with me in the comments!
Joplin recorded the song only a few days before her death and songwriter Kris Kristofferson did not even know she had recorded it until after she had already died.
Don McLean’s reference to meeting “a girl who sang the blues” in “American Pie” is apparently referring to Janis’ version of the song and an encounter the singer had with her.
The tune went on to become Joplin’s only number one single and next up our own Kayla Reeves is taking on the tune.

Funny story 2002 - 2004 I had a vocal instructor ( excellent singer btw ,) whom absolutely idolized Joplin . Definitely impressed as to how this lady pulls off these songs . Ken Tamplin gave me this link in a comment I made on his channel . I know this took a lot of study and practice to attain this level.

Just came across this video, talk about channeling Janis Joplin, if I had not seen the video itself, I would swear I was hearing Ms. Joplin herself. Without a doubt, Ms Reeves is so very well talented and a delight to listen too and the fact she can sing songs from various genres so very well is a strong reflection of how versatile and talented Kayla is. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more of Kayla in the future!

Oh man , I dont think there was a voice timbre left out this one. She covered them ALL. How does she STAY right on that "edge" of "crunch/ clean"..LOL..Oh yeah , she OWN this for sure .
